【岡山・美観地区】まるで江戸時代!レトロな街並みを歩く【日本観光】

We are strolling through the Bikan Historical Quarter in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. Japanese traffic signals make a pigeon sound. Japanese summers are extremely hot. There’s a sign for “Orthocyan Lunch.” This is the International Hotel. We’re walking toward the Bikan District. There are shops that look delicious. Kurashikiya sells Japanese goods made with denim and canvas from Kurashiki. We’ve arrived at the Bikan Historical Quarter. This is one of the most famous tourist spots in Okayama, visited by over 3 million people annually. The beautiful townscape, with white-walled storehouses from the Edo period harmonizing with Western-style buildings, fascinates visitors from all over the world. There are many souvenirs for sale. We’re moving to another location. Now along the Kurashiki River, a classic sightseeing spot. Okayama is famous for peach-based sweets. You can ride a sightseeing boat for 700 yen for adults, 350 yen for children. A parent and baby swan were swimming. There was a Tully’s Coffee available only in the Bikan District. Blue foods like “Denim Buns” and “Denim Soft-serve” are popular here. The “Denim Soft” ice cream costs 500 yen. I bought a Denim Bun for 400 yen. I used a 500-yen coin. The change was 100 yen. The Denim Bun is freshly made and hot. Be careful not to burn yourself. It’s really blue. It didn’t taste very good. Tourists were riding the sightseeing boats. For lunch, I’m having udon. This is the original self-serve udon restaurant. The restaurant is called “Kurashiki Meigen.” 1. Take a tray and some water. 2. Order your udon. 3. Pick tempura and pay at the register. Here’s the udon price list. It’s about $7. They also sell condiments. I ordered chilled bukkake udon. Tempura options include shrimp, crab stick, squid, chicken tempura, mixed vegetable, and fish cake. Let’s eat. Achi Shrine We climbed the stone steps. In Japan, celebrations are often held at shrines. We cleanse our hands at the water basin. It’s a very old and beautiful building. The trees are lush and the air is refreshing. But after climbing all the stairs, I was very tired. I’m making a prayer. Many ema (wooden prayer plaques) are displayed. You can see the cityscape of Okayama. There are several smaller shrines within the main shrine grounds. This is my first visit to this shrine. This is Sugawara Shrine. This is where omikuji (fortunes) are tied. Omikuji are a form of fortune-telling you can draw at Japanese shrines or temples. I kind of wish I had eaten lunch here instead. Premium beef ramen. It’s quite expensive. I found a curry restaurant along the way. The curry and chai set looked very delicious. Ivy Square Kurashiki Ivy Square, 7-2 Honmachi, Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture Even the Bikan District, known for its white-walled scenery, is a hub for industrial tourism. Kurashiki once flourished as a distribution center for cotton and rice under the Edo government. In the Meiji era, it was revitalized with the spinning industry, and the Kurashiki Spinning Mill was built on the former site of the magistrate’s office. They sell croquettes and Mitarashi dango. The croquettes here are especially delicious. Thank you for watching.
