We have sadly heard that it’s been closed for over a year. But again, when we got up to the top here, points closed. [Applause] [Music] We do exactly what everyone else does. Put the bait on, put it in the water, sit patiently, and nothing. [Music] Sue Ro just took off. Got a fish, baby. [Music] Proudly brought to you by Itch TPMS. [Music] Well, it’s a wet start to this episode. I’ll tell you what, I’m so glad we packed everything away last night. Otherwise, we would have had wet chairs. Our table would have been our stuff would have been wet. We only got to pack the splitter away. And I reckon we could hitch up and navigate our way out of here. Do you know where we’re going next? Uh I I do. I just have I think we looked here. It’s about an hour north. It’s about an hour north. So, this rain is only supposed to stick around for the day, I believe. I mean, it woke us up this morning. It’s like4 to 7:00 at the boarding. I heard the rain. I thought, “Oh, I better run around outside just to make sure that I had packed everything away.” And why don’t you come up out the rain? Oh, yeah. It’s raining. And uh all we really got to do is concentrate inside. But we got to start the day with a quick cup of coffee. Let’s whoop around here. There’s no need you sticking around. Let’s hitch the van and find out where we’re going next and we just keep going. Look who’s just got out of bed. Uh, good morning. Morning, buddy. [Music] [Applause] Derek’s latest trick that he’s enjoying is leaving the door unlatched. Hey, love. I’ll get it. It’s why it’s handy to always do a walk around. [Music] Happy. [Music] Hey. [Music] The old Apple Maps or Google Maps can take you on some really um what what’s the right word to use? Um interesting roads. Yes, you’re right. That was crazy, but it was absolutely beautiful. [Music] But we’re taking it on. The problem is we haven’t found a servo yet. We haven’t put a servo in the um um GPS. We put a location, a camp, and I was hoping just to pass a servo so we can get diesel into the diesel heater in the van, but I’m holding thumbs. There’s still another half an hour drive to camp. So hopefully we pass a servo. Sure. Pass something. Well, we always do, don’t we? In 1 kilome, turn right on hill end road. There you go. [Music] Well, it turns out that you have to book this camp we’ve just arrived at. And Sue only read it like 2 minutes away. But what we’re going to do is I’ve got to back it out cuz I can’t turn around and I don’t just want to go onto this gentleman’s property. We’ve text him and we’ve tried to phone him. So, it’s I’ve just got to back her out. Got about a couple hundred meters to go. Let’s have a look how good my reversing skills are. Here we go. Fortunately, it’s pretty simple if you just stick to the track. And we haven’t crossed a servo yet. So the plan is to get back out of here and look for a servo, wait for the gentleman to get back to us. If he doesn’t get back to us, then um we will look for a another camp. There’s nothing wrong with that. So we managed to get out. Sue reckons. What? What? Nor Park Beach is about 40 minutes away and it’s a little town with a servo. So, we thought why not? Well, we got the time until we It’s about the journey, not the destination, my love. So, what we’ll do is by the time we drive there, we get fuel, get you a coffee, etc. If Mate hasn’t gotten back to us, well, then we’ll start looking at other options. Yep. I didn’t I don’t think we really had a backup, but there’s still a few camps around this area. So we’re just just north of Bundberg. Found a service at the where we more Park Beach. Park Beach. And I’ll fill the I’ll fill the Jerry as well. Eh. Yep. Top up for everything. Yeah. Pull it over. Oh no. This is the difficult one. [Music] We put these on here. Yep. So, I put the diesel heater on this morning and it wasn’t getting hot. So, I have to check that out. So that’s I only put jeez like not not even a dollar in that one. Well that’s a 20 lit Jerry. I’ve only put 18 18 L in that and that. So something’s not right. So I’m going have to check that out. I bought a new hat. My old hat is in the drawer next to the bed and it’s just tippled over the back of the drawer and I can’t get it out. So, I got myself a new one at the servo at More Park Beach. We’ve just headed into town while we were waiting to sort out our camp booking cuz we’ve got such bad planning. But turns out there is absolutely a spot for us for two nights. In 3.3 km, turn right onto Lindman. There you go. Okay, while Sue is chatting to Peter, absolute top bloke, had this property running as a camp for I think he just mentioned 4 years. So when we originally came, we went into his actual driveway. But that’s where the dump point is. He’s actually got a dump point. So for those that need a dump point for the chemical toilet, etc. How good’s that? We’ll get to the prices now. See who’s having it. So actually, we go to the left. See? Welcome to the Cohen River Retreat. You know, we’re going to follow the cane fields all the way down. I don’t know if you can see. There’s a path all along the front end down there. And then um camping down there. I have heard him say there’s toilet, showers, bins. Um possible drinking water and also um irrigation water, what he called it. Um not really drinking, but you can wash your boat down in that. He’s got a boat ramp here. He says there’s a gentleman down here. Now look, I’m not getting my hopes up high. There’s a gentleman down there. It’s been here for a for a little while, couple of weeks or a week or I can’t remember what Peter said, but it’s got 32 flathead. It’s catch and release, though. but he’s shown me on the map. So, if we stay long enough, we might get the boat off. If not, we’ll have a flick off the bank. But I did get some prawns at that servo that we stopped at this morning. So, I’m pretty excited, mate. I’m feeling good about this one, mate. I’m excited. It’s such a beautiful drive in. Look at this fields on your right. Hey, look. We’re going to stop. What’s this here? This is the wood box. So, Peter’s neighbor sells wood. Yeah. 10 bucks a bag, mate. That That’s a win. And hey, listen. It is private property, so a lot of people get like think about the expense, right? For two nights was $15 per person per night. So, $60 for two nights. 60 bucks for two nights. So, 30 bucks. I don’t think that’s bad. Hang on. What is this we have here? It’s my little stash. That’s laundry money. And we’ve got a little money stash going on that I don’t know about. Yes. And look, we got 20 bucks. Two bags of wood. Yes, Bob. Keep the coins. Good job. Good job. There you go. There you go. 10. Two fives makes it 20. You got to watch you. Yeah. [Music] Good job, Peter. Good job. Slot in the top. Nicely done, Howard. Now, pick pick two good onens. Yeah, look at that. Oh, I like a man carrying heavy things. One. Very attractive, huh? Give it a big one, two over the head there, love. Little bit of a workout. Yeah. Oh, I love a wood box. [Music] Sue doing a great job here. Now, we have a few options at camp. We can be up here at the dry stuff. I think what we’re going to do is we’re just going to park this for a second while we deliberate on where we’re going to park. Where do you want to park, love? The river is on that side. Yeah. So, basically, the river runs all in front of these guys over here and all the way along and around the bend. And the boat ramp is down there. So, that’s the red tank. There’s water. There’s Dunny’s over there and there’s fire pits all over the place. So, it all depends on what you want to do. Like, let’s stop over there. Is that like all I don’t know. Yeah, it looks like it. Eh, that’s cool. So, we either got to I think what we got to do is we got to backtrack along this little track here to the end and then down onto that flat there. So, yeah, we can go and park like all the way up. There’s fire pits over there if you want to try and get there. Got [Music] to do this. Always the first job when we arrive. Jockey wheel. Jockey wheel. So, a lot of you people ask us, “How do we go with a boss jockey wheel?” This is the second one we’ve had on two different caravans. So, on our vacation, we we we ordered and paid to have one. We absolutely loved it. We’ve also had the blackjack, which is the electric one. What we found with the electric one, very convenient. Oh, it’s it’s so good because it’s just a power, but we found the switch on it sometimes would work and sometimes it wouldn’t. And you would have to jiggle it around a little bit. Was a little temperamental. the old blackjack. But still a great hitch and super easy, particularly for me cuz I literally just pushed a button. Yeah. And it worked. With the boss, you just get the drill. Taking the pin out. Take the pin. Find the hole. There. There it is. And away you go. And we can lift it up. And obviously cuz it’s mechanical. Yeah, there’s grease nipples. There’s one there. So you can you can like grease them up, which is good. And um we’ve never had a drama with any of the Boss ones that we’ve run now. We’ve had the van for almost it’s worked out almost 9 months already. So So we’ve been running a bus for over two years, 2 and a half years. Yeah. Yeah. on on Yeah, that’s right. And it would be our pick, wouldn’t it? Yeah. So, to save yourselves a little bit of money, you can jump on to Camper. I’ll put a little um scan code in the corner here. It’ll take you straight to the website if you scan it. Chuck in JVR5 for 5% discount. Get yourself a jockey or you can also buy the blackjack on there. So, it’s entirely up to you. Just if you want to save a little bit of money. But anyway, I want to get this off cuz I want to check out the fishing situation. Here we go. All right, a little change of scenery. We’ve moved sights. Look, we’re right at the boat ramp. How did we manage this? Well, when we arrived here, there were couple of campers here and all mates said that um they were due to stay another night and for some reason they left. When we come up to the bins, we realized, oh, we just took a bit of a drive down to the boat ramp here and we realized they’re gone. And Sue said, “Mate, this is a great spot because the boat ramp’s here. We can fish. We can have our rods in the water. We can put the boat in, which we’re going to try and do tomorrow. We’re just running out of light here today. So, what we’re going to do is set up the rods. We’re just going to go over there and have a little have a little throw. Got some prawns. Just putting fing over here. Key dramatic music. The reason Oh, like by the time if we rush to get the boat off now, I Yeah, it it would be just too dark. So, what we’re going to Yeah, we’re going to fish here tomorrow morning. Sue is going to help me get that boat on before she starts work. So, that’s a little bit like I am hypnotized. I don’t know what I should make of it. Read between the lines. If you got out the backseat of this car with me. If I told you what I’m thinking of, would you marry me waking up slowing going on over there? Hey, I will say this. We do exactly what everyone else does. Put the bait on, put it in the water, sit patiently, and nothing. Well, you can see by the sunlight that we’ve must probably been here for about half an hour, 40 minutes. It feels like forever. Uh, it’s been more than half an hour. Um, if you’re wondering, yes, Bobby is in the van because he Yeah, if you’re new to the channel, he goes crazy around fishing rods. And we’re just trying to do this peacefully and see if we can catch a fish. But no guy. [Music] All I want is just to call your name and be interwined. If I asked you, would you say the same? Would you call mine? Waking up slowly, dreaming of a holy kiss. This is the moment. Got to fl it. Yes, Derek. Oh, flatty. Nice job, brother. There you go. There you go. Nothing wrong with that. I mean, we won’t be eating it, but that’s great. Just got him. Look at that. Oh, look. I’ve just got him, too. You’ve only just got him. Cool, mate. Just look at him. Oh, good job, loves. Doing it for the team so we don’t pull a donut. I am in appreciation. There we go. And he’s off. Suz Rogers took off. This is the tide. Hey, slow down. Just having a nice slow down. Hey. Oh, wow. Oh, this is a good fish. This is a good flat. I reckon this is a good flatty. You reckon? Yeah. I’ll tell you what, there wasn’t a bite. Holy shivers. Whacked me in the face. What? Stingray. It’s a ray. Jeez. I didn’t think it was a ray, eh? Well, that was a crazy few minutes, but it’s gotten too dark, so we haven’t been able to continue fishing. But I’m excited for tomorrow now because that’s just giving me just a little bit of um energy. The the spirits the spirits have been lifted. [Music] Well, it started off this morning with a lot of fog in the sky. And if I remember at school, that means it’s going to be an absolute cracking of a day. So peaceful here. Almost no wind, but we are on the boat, baby. Here we go. We are floating. Look at it. [Music] We’re going to be targeting sort of banks like this. It’s almost the turn of the tide now. Got all these little mud banks in between those little islands there. So, that looks pretty good. Also, I was thinking nice big bar in front of me here that I might start with because that tide’s still gently going out. So, maybe it’ll pull me enough down this side and then when the turn of the tide comes in, we’ll start working our way back up. So, that’s the that’s the plan. [Music] Woo! [Music] I’ve just stumbled. Massive stingray. You can see him in the water there. We don’t want him on my little light gig, light rig. Beautiful nature at its best. [Music] Got a fish, baby. I don’t know what it is. I’m filming by myself. There you go. Yes. Yes. I saw him take it. [Music] Beautiful flooded. Wow. Oh my gosh. Oh no. What the bloody hell? It is. It’s a massive mullet. Never seen a mullet that big. I think it’s a massive mullet of some sort. Come on, buddy. It’s huge. The size of this thing. It’s massive. It’s massive. Get him back here. All right, buddy. All right. That’s I don’t know what that is. Look at the size of that thing. All right, let me get these things. Get the lure out of him. Jeez, he’s engulfed it. Bit more. See how muddy? Oh no. [Music] So cool. They say when you catch a fish on a on a lure when they just smash it like that. That’s amazing. [Music] It’s been a hot minute. I have fished hard for the last 3 hours since that fish I got. I’ve been right up the river, drifted all the way back, vibing the mud banks, trying my best. Oh, look. Almost full moon. I’ve reverted back to some prawns that we were using the other night. I’ve most probably only got an hour of light left. So, I’m here. I’ve been told by the property owner it’s a bit of rock here. Let’s try the brim lock to hang around here. So, that’s what we’re going to try and do for the last hour. [Music] So after cast, after cast, after cast, and again another cast, I called it a day with just the one fish. And I couldn’t wait to get back to camp to tell Sue all about it. [Music] This camp turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. It is absolutely beautiful. Amazing views, clearly good fishing, some really great amenities, and definitely one to add to your list. But for now, we have to keep heading north. [Music] Well, it’s another beautiful start to the day here at this camp. The weather has just been so amazing. But what I didn’t do last night was get the boat in. Ah, shivers. Someone’s got to get in the water. We got the tides a bit. Um, so the tide was a lot higher last night and then this morning you’ve only got a half tide. So not too bad. Got to just get the boat back in. I’ve got to go around. Got to get the boat around there and then straight back up on the car. So the first thing we had to do this morning while the tide was sort of good enough to just not battle with the boat, we’ve got it in. Uh we’re moving on today unfortunately because this is an amazing Oh, a sprinkler. Good morning. I honestly did not even see that. Eh. Wow. In the car. You haven’t had a shower yet. Wow. I tell you. Anyway, there’s another one. Watch out. No, I’ve got the bloody window closed now. Yeah, we’re moving on. Unfortunately, great camp. Loved our stay here. You could easy stay here a week to be honest with you. But we’re heading we keep heading north. And I think you can tell in my voice I’m super excited. We’re going to a town that we hadn’t we haven’t been back to since 2001. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Wow, that was a close call. I didn’t even realize. I’m down to 54ks plus my I need to add blue as well. 264 KS left. I was out of everything. [Music] Bloody hell. Let’s go, Ed. Blue. Okay, we can’t hide your sneaky bacon and egg roll. Hey, look at this. Freshly cooked. That’s a great bacon and egg p uh roll. Oh, listen to me. Freshly made. And then we’re not far from camp. Maybe 25 minutes. Oh, no. We got to get water first. Got to get water. I need to camp. Bloody hell. We’ve woken up to some more rain. Crazy weather here in where Agnes Water. Tell you what, the game last night was bloody great. But the cider of origin game three was was crazy. The the energy in the in the pub or the tavern was great. [Applause] Yeah. What a weird It’s not cold. Look at the skies. Crazy crazy crazy weather at the moment. We’ve had another superb stay at the Summit 1770 and some really great amenities to base yourself from if you want to explore the Agnes water and 7070 area. Costs are 35 for an unpowered site per night. And if you’re looking for some power and water hookup, you’re looking at about $50 per night. Top attraction at this park is how dog friendly it is. I’m just done clipping Bobby cuz I brought him out to the dog park for a run. And um wait till you see this area. Ready, Bob? Ready, mate? Come on. Let’s go. And he’s off. Are you off? Go. Hey. It is a fantastic run. shaded areas for you to sit and they’ve got a nice pond down the bottom that the dogs can have a swim in. Humans aren’t allowed to swim in that, but you can see it’s just an enormous area. I believe they do dog training here as well. And um Bob just loves coming through and having a runaround off leash completely free. [Music] So, we’ve um had a slight issue. We would love to have stayed longer in 1770. I I honestly think 1770 is a is a little town or Agnes Water 70 and the town of 1770 is a place that one could actually stay um for a week. But because it’s school holidays, getting accommodation cuz we don’t book ahead, we’ve just rung up and we’ve managed to extend by one night. So panic stage is subdued. Subdued. That’s a big word, isn’t it? I’ve just finished work Friday. So, so it’s rained for a day and a half that we were here. So, we managed to extend. So, we’re not going to be able to explore as much like put the boat in, etc. Because unfortunately, we have to move on for other um commitments, but we’re coming down to the foreshore here. It’s just on that sort of sunset now on a Friday evening cuz we’re going to walk Bobby. And if I remember, it’s been 4 years since we’ve been here. So, I was a lot younger then. I don’t even know what the tides are like, but we’re going to try and walk Bobby a little bit along the foreshore here. We’re going to go back. We’re going to have a nice little campfire night because we are allowed campfires at um the summit. [Music] Wow, we are experiencing a beautiful sunset. I have been blown away by Queensland sunset. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Wow, we could not have scripted a better sunset than the one we just witnessed down at the foreshore. We’re back at back at camp. I’ve sorted out the helmet here as you can see. I’ve got me cap on. No, it’s actually to stay warm. And also mozzy’s and midgetes. So, got some long pants on, long top just to keep myself safe. And I’ve put the man to work. Look at this. Yes. I thought I heard some grunting from inside. Oh, mate. You know, happy wife, happy life. You know, you know the way, love. Happy. And happy Bob because look. Yeah, he’s got a stick. He gets a stick. I must say, oh, we’ve got full moon coming up, but it seems like there must have been maybe like a bush fire or burnoff somewhere. But because that’s in the air and the moon that orange and it’s just peeking through the trees now. But I got to also admit we may be on the last site near the dump point, but we’ve got nobody moving forward. We like the last campsite. So that is the benefit. You know, with every um cloud there’s a silver lining. And that is the silver lining. Campsite 12b. Yeah. Like we can’t even smell the the dump point. Um I’m going to have to chop up some kindling cuz we don’t have any kindling. Then I’m going to get some fire lighters. to light the fire. I have no idea how dinner’s going to turn out tonight. I don’t even know what’s for dinner. But you know what? We have taco shells. It’s Friday. Yeah. Friday. Yeah. [Music] [Music] Okay, you beauty. We have dinner on the go. Now, we actually use chicken mints. I know that sounds really strange, but we find it’s actually a little bit healthier. There’s no oil and um yeah, just we’ve been doing it for a couple of years. Actually, Sue’s prepped some sauce. So, we’re just going to tiple that in. Look at that. You’re cooking dinner again now. I am. I am indeed. And I will say to you, I wanted to cook on the fire again tonight, but in all honesty, we’ve cooked on the fire a lot. A lot. So, we thought we’d just change it up a little bit. So, I’m just going to mix that sauce in. We got the pasta going on the left. And I got to tell you, what an evening campfire. We’re not going to put any more wood on the fire because it is now oh about 8:00 and we’re going to cook this um spag bowl. Going to tuck into bed cuz we got a big day ahead of us tomorrow. So by the time we’ve cooked this, the fire would have most probably almost burnt out. Pack us all up and yeah, I’m looking forward to tomorrow. One of our absolutely favorite spots is the paper bark trail and we have sadly heard that it’s been closed for over a year. So, we’re not sure whether that’s for regeneration quite possibly, but that was next up on the list of things to do. So, yeah, sadly can’t do that, but we’ll make up for it and we’ll go and um check out something else. Well, I’d just like to say something as well. There’s a actually there’s still a lot to do here in 1770. The 1770 Tavern, there’s this beautiful beach hotel that we’ve been to. The beaches are beautiful. Kangaroo Sanctuary and there are two national parks as well. And then there’s some other beaches on the other side that are awesome to to um go and look at as well. So, we obviously can’t get everything done that we were hoping to do. So yeah, it’s still a great place to come to offering a variety of things to do for different people. We did do the paperback trail though in some of the national park last time we were here. So you can drop in the um link to the last episode. Yeah, I’ll drop the link in the description below if you want to go and check that out. That was 4 years ago. So some of our earlier episodes, we were a lot younger then. Oh yes. So, um it only leaves one more thing to do really do for us. [Applause] [Music] [Music] And that’s the lookout here in um 70 and 70. Beautiful. But again, when we got up to the top here, one part of the um uh lookout points closed. Just a lot of things are closed. It’s not the most exciting ending to this episode, but this is absolutely stunning on this side. Eh, and just really important to remember that it’s actually a memorial for all the lives lost at sea. There have been a number of shipwrecks off this coast um from as far back as the 1800s and I think the most recent was in um 2017. Six lives lost. Well, if I remember correctly when we here 4 years ago, I did come down and record about it in that episode that’s down in the description that you can go and and and and um click and watch at the end of this episode. Um, which actually gives you a little bit of a vision of of of this lookout more than what we’ve got here. Where we actually currently are in this because we can’t go further says no drones. So, I can’t even pop the drone up on this side here cuz it would just show beautiful. But that’s okay cuz the link below has a bit of droning. It’s got the information about the lookout. It’s got the national park. It’s got the paper park walk. It’s got fishing. Everything. So, you kind of need to combine the two to get a real view on um Agnes and 1770. But, um this is the end of this episode, guys. So, we’ve had an absolute smashing episode. I can tell you that after it, but we’ve enjoyed it. We we fished. I caught a fish, found some awesome a new awesome camp, returned to another camp, come to 1770, one of our favorite little towns on the East Coast. But, um that’s a wrap, baby. So, from myself, Sue, and Bobby, guys, thank you so much. You’ll see a QR code here in the corner. Scan to subscribe that with your phone. We believe it’s a lot easier for people to subscribe that watch on the telly. But um just remember one thing, guys. Our last little quote for this episode. Get out there and enjoy. Take care.

This week we travel to a popular small coastal town where we realise travel days don’t always go according to plan. Two of our planned attractions were both closed forcing us to change our travel plans.

We discovered a hidden dog friendly off-grid riverside camping spot—the perfect place to set up camp, fish the river, and unwind by the campfire.
🎣 Caught fish straight from the river
🔥 Cooked dinner on the open fire
🌙 Slept under the stars next to the peaceful river
🌴 Day-tripped to the beach at Agnes Water and explored the historic town of 1770

Our big lap around Australia all started in 2019 when we lost a dear friend and something like that opened our eyes up and decided to travel and make memories as tomorrow is not guaranteed. Took us about 7 months and we were on the road. We decided to create videos to share with our family and friends all around the world and to inspire some right here in Australia to do the same.

  6. We are on the road at Wooramel WA at the moment but we were driving out of Geraldton and I had not checked the stabilisers and one had dropped, fortunately some kind people informed us of it and we popped it up properly

  7. You need to flick some orange or red soft plastics mate for a good flathead but don’t worry I love chuckn a prawn and having a beer to bro…. It’s all about the serenity. 🇦🇺🇦🇺✌️😎🙏

  8. Hubby reckons that was a blue salmon not a great eating fish but a good sport fish. Nice catch glad u got out on the water.

  9. Hey guys love watching your videos every week. We have just ordered a new van and hopefully be on the road soon doing some small trips until we retire. Derek if you are ever around the Armidale or Inverell NSW area I would to catch up and give you some of my fishing lures that I paint. Just message me and I will give you my email address if you’re ever coming this way. Happy travels guys

  10. Love your honesty about the dump point! If you hadn’t told us, we really wouldn’t have been able to smell it through the screen😂😂😂

  11. Great show on 1770. Love the place even though we haven't been back for 33 years, but looking forward to a return thanks to your vid. BTW: have you upgraded your drone and or Video equipment or using 'LUT's' – seems a recent improvement?
    Keep the passion going, guys.

  12. Hey there, have been watching you guys for a long time and never said anything but I love watching you guys you are great fun and always positive. Keep it up 👍👍👍👍

  13. Who said you didn't know how to catch fish!! Ya proved them wrong. Why was it catch and release for flathead? Are the fish in decline or not edible?
Thanks guys. Some great shots there.
I've had my Sunday fix. Wooohoo 😊

  14. wow I can't believe you got the same spot at the boatramp. We were there just before you and loved it. We took our boat out to the heads which was just stunning. What a great camp. But that spot is the only one you want.

  15. Can you Jaapies not read ?
The fuel bowsers clearly say no phones or electrical devices to be used while fueling up , it’s in every service station , just because you make YouTube videos doesn’t exempt you from the rules
I work in the fuel industry and it makes me cringe everytime I see this

  16. Oh no! We got Google Mapped on the exact same route, except when heading south from Agnes Waters. That bridge was insanely tight.

  17. Looks like youre both having a blast! And well done with the salmon catch! 🎉 some fab campsites, youre on a roll with those!

Might be my eyes, but theres some very clear, looking like pro footage in this vid 👌
