Cozy Van Life in Heavy Rain Storm. Camping in Mythical Glacier Viking Fjords. Relaxing Travel Vlog
That definitively looks like new snow up there That’s incredible the Mythical
Olden Fjord Cozy van life The freedom of off-grid living Beneath the largest glacier in Europe Heavy Rain New snow Vikings & Trolls Now I should’ve had starlink The rain is coming down hard this morning. Really hard. and it’s cold as well. Five degrees ish. Supposed to be sunny. Good morning, my friends. It’s been raining a lot on and off. Now the sun is actually out for a little second. It was just raining like crazy a few minutes ago. Got the most important meal the day coffee. It’s actually noon. I’ve been working for a couple of hours here replying to comments. and editing a video so I’m not sure if I’m gonna leave today or if I’m gonna stay here. There’s a few places here that I might want to go to It’s a place Call Olden or Lewen I have a spot I stayed in a few years ago that is really epic And I might drive there I don’t know if that’s going to be super crowded yet or how it’s going to be It’s a holiday in Norway on this last day of the holiday, there’s a lot of traffic. People are going home We’ll see. I’ll work for another hour and then I’m probably decided. Please like and subscribe if you
enjoy the video, it helps a lot! I’m in Nordfjordeid Just managed to get some groceries and one out of few stores that are open. And now I’m heading towards Stryn and towards Olden and Len, which is where I’m hoping to find my really cool camp spot. In 800 meters at the roundabout, continue straight to stay on E39. So a bunch of new roads today. Hope they’re pretty. Hope the weather is clearing up. And it’s so funny. It’s Monday today. And later this week, it’s going to be 27 degrees Celsius. We’re talking we’re talking in 85, 90 maybe, Fahrenheit. And this through the night, it was down to 4 degrees Celsius Strange weather this is summer in Norway Gonna head in towards the mountains there now This is a Stryn adventure town of the Fjords. Funny how much it started raining right now The forecast is actually quite a lot better. That’s’s OK. Not gonna stop here since I stopped in Nordfjordeid, so I’m gonna head to Olden All right, this is Loen with the Gondol, the Loen Skylift, Tourist destination. In here, it’s gorgeous. You can drive in that valley and it’s just stunning in there with the glacier and stuff, but there’s absolutely nohere to camp in there. there And in this rain, I’d rather wait. Maybe I’ll go in there tomorrow. Kjenndalsbreen Glacier I could see a cruise ship out in the harbor here somewhere, so. probably a bit busy today So in here, we got Olden got a small cruise ship in there. Oh, what a pretty place. This is the heart of your country for sure? This one on the smaller cruise ships. could almost be a yacht world explorer. I’ve seen that before this summer actually. I think it’s Italian. So I’m gonna continue in this valley although the main road goes around a f here. I’m hoping I can get my camp spot that I used before. It’s pretty epic when the clouds lift in there Everything here is Lord of the Rings or Skyrim Green glacier fed lakes here are just gorgeous Glacier is starting to show. This is all part of U to Dbrand Glacier, which is a huge glacier. It’s like Arctic glacier rainforest out here magical light extremely wet and so lush and green with glaciers Gotta love it All right, we’re getting really close to the place I’m looking for. It’s not looking good. It seems like people are just filling up these places. I could grab a place there. Here it is. Let’s see if I can sneak a place. I think I can. All right, I did find my spot here. I was able to park with this incredible view of the glacier and the waterfalls in the end of the valley here. Have a look So this is the view from my living room. Can’t beat that. I think it’s clearing in there. That’s Jostedalsbreen glacier, the largest glacier in Europe or northern Europe I think It’s a pretty spectacular place in here I turned around, so I can have this view with the glacier and everything. The waterfall right out here. That’s pretty amazing, isn’t it? Gonna be a good place to stay. I think I’m gonna do a couple of nights here, work on some videos and finish up video or two and upload from here. Got full four bars so far you here. So pretty good spot The view is just amazing. So happy I found this. It was a tight spot to turn around in, but I made it without dumping myself. into the lake here. Pretty tight fit, but all good A lot of vehicles driving past here. There’s not really many options to camp out here, but if you want to know where this place is, you can find it in my maps on my Patreon or you can find it in my maps if you join us a member here on YouTube. So I share all my camps and maps and stuff with patrons and channel members. All right, it is dinner time, and today I’m cooking with the door open. I’m making some burgers.gers with Cheese bun and caramelized onions today Get that done with open doors, just to enjoy the views No Need some jalapeños as well, of course always jalapenos and cheese, of course. How about this? Hmm. I’m Amazing. That is so good. Hey, bird. What a beautiful place is this? All right, so these days I’m reading The Black Echo by Michael Connolly. about it’s the first novel in the Bosch series. and I’m kind of hooked on it. It’s really cool. Awesome stuff. It’s just way too cozy here now. Started raining again lovely sound No And it’s 4 o’clock in the morning and it’s misty and gloomy towards the glacier. Quite beautiful. Come here. Here’s my friends. Look at this. So I was able to move my man a little bit when people left. So now I’m just kind of turned it a little bit. So I have a straight view of the glacier there So this is where I’m gonna stay angled for another day or two while I’m editing this video here from Jotunheimen Can’t beat this for a workspace office. It’s like my mobile office here. Not sure if you can see how green the water is it’s absolutely beautiful All right, we’re back in full rain territory again. Heavy rain? Spent the day here just editing videos And the wetw’s pretty nice, and now it’s pretty bad. I wouldn’t call it bad. It’s just turning raining. And much colder, apparently. Yeah, 10 degrees now. It was almost 20 earlier. So, big difference. Well, good morning. It’s looking to be a beautiful morning. It’s Been raining a lot through the night. And I’m pretty sure. I’m staying here another day and finishing a new video. It’s a good spot for uploading. getting the most important meal of the day ready and then back to work. Cheers, my friends. most important meal of the today. And this is gonna be my third day here. I’m staying until I up. uploaded this new video, and that could take a while. It’s a big video, so Also, this spot is amazing. Apart from that, I had some people really just get really close to me last night, and that’s a little bit too close for comfort. I enjoy not having people sleeping on top of me, but it is what it is. Very popular place with very few campsites out here. So I just have to accept that, but I don’t know, when people get in at 10:30pm and squeeze on top of you, it’s a little bit annoying. like there’re some snow in the mountains. They are fresh snow in the mountains, well. Not very much further up then. where I’m now, probably just a couple of hundred meters about me. That’s crazy That definitively looks like new snow up there beautiful Actually got sunshine over there for the first time now I I I Now we’re talking. It’s a bluebird day by the glaciers. Super clear morning. Blue birthday. Beautiful. Cheers, my friends. It’s,Asolutely stunning day here in the Olden fjord. It’s the 12th of June, and today or tomorrow, it’s going to be get super hot. It’s going to get up to 30 degrees. That’s around 92 or 93 degrees Fahrenheit, I think. So that’s pretty awesome, although it’s going to be unbearable in the van. I don’t have any air condition and I might have to go up into some higher elevations for that. Look at the bluebird day with the glacier here and the waterfall and everything Can you have a better place than this? And the most important meal of the day. Awesome. Well, it’s time to leave this amazing place now been here for three days or three nights rather So now I’m going to go looking for a place to empty my toilet and maybe get some water, get some groceries, and stuff like that. But maybe I’ll go up to the glacier first up here and see if I should do that hike up to that main glacier, which is up a side Valley. Maybe I’ll do that, maybe I won’t. It’s. I saw a lot of buses coming come up, so there’s maybe a cruise ship out in the ford here, and if it’s tourist Trappy, I’m not going to go up there today. I’ve seen them enough of the glacier, to be honest, but time to pack up. Bye. I think I can retire this. Winter jacket. All right. I’ve basically been Staying here for three nights, working and working on my computer, draining a lot of power from my battery, but because we have such long days now in summer, I’ve been getting a lot of solar power, so my battery is still at 80% after three nights. So it’s working so well in summer. the off grid life is real. But now I need to empty the toilet, and I still got half a tank of water, and I’m starting to run out of… my preferred breakfast and dinner food. So I need to go to the store and get some stuff. Now, let’s see if this van is performing because that’s always something a little concerned about. So now I haven’t started it for three days. Let’s see what happens. Very scenic spots to empty your toilet and refill water. Haven’t seen many more beautiful spots than this. All right, let’s go to the glacier. This is.. Gryta camping. It’s 100 kroner to empty your toilet and empty gray waterater and fill up water. That’s like $10 or 8 euros ish. in the most most beautiful location in the world. Awesome. That’s a beautiful camp. And here’s another one. Both. Wow. This is amazing. Olden camping. Absolutely stunning. Imagine living like this under the glacier so beautiful Like a fairy tale in here So this is old water. It’s glacier water. They selling bottles in stores. There’s a certain ring to that glacier water or glacial water All right, I decided I’m going to do this, even though it’s a super touristy hike, and there’s a lot of buses from cruise ship here now. I’m up here. It’s noon, and the weather is beautiful. So why not? So this glacier here is the goal? I think it’s about a mile to go in around 1.8 kilometers. It says six kilometers roundrip, but So I’m heading up to Briksdalsbre Glacier, which is part of Jostedalsbreen Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Europe The whole mountain plateau here for miles and miles and miles is made up of this massive glacier resting on top of the Mountains. All right, here we are. Let me give you the verdict in a second. Is it worth it? Well, I think that lake is worth it, but the glacier, you can see a much better view of a glacier like this at Bayablan, where you can just pull off the road, basically. This is… The glacier itself is very underwhelming right now. It’s been pulling back a lot over the last years. Anyway, I’ve done it, and that I did. All right, back to the van. I’m glad I did it. But I’m sure it’s been much more prettier before it melted so much. It’s actually a better view further down. And bring your zoom lens. No This is a pretty good spot. You see the glacier from? Awesome. And the other way, it’s this It’s pretty awesome too, that waterfall. Okay. That was nice to have done. Now I’m gonna drive for an hour and a half and get to the store. My favorite store is.. Cop Extra, and that’s where I usually find what I need. That’s gonna be in Sundama, so I’m gonna head over there now and see some new areas. So let’s go It’s a lot of nice camping here. But I don’t usually stay at campgrounds. It’s not a principle at all. It’s just I like to be off grid.. That’s the whole point, space, basically, of doing this for me, but If there’s a really good paid one, I don’t mind that old. Seems we got ourselves bike accident. All right. It looked like it was a biker on a twin bike. That had fallen off. There was a big bump in the road right before or right after the accident accident place, so I’m pretty sure that I couldn’t hit that. All right, this is a new one for me. towards Sandana. Oh, this is rough road. Really bad. Beautiful views. have big stuff here. Beautiful. Absolutely amazing. Love it. Is Sundana down here? Never been here? It’s gonna be interesting to see. Looks like there’s a pretty big road closure down here, so. You’ll do a little detour around the harbor, I think. Continue straight out to Nordstr Vegen. Yep. That’s closed. Gott to go here? 300 meters. Not Much life here on this beautiful day. Quiet town, as the killers sing so beautiful their song. But there’s an extra store where I need to get my groceries What a beautiful area this is. Quite spectacular. I’ve never been out here before. This is a little bit further west than I I normally travel. So getting out further towards the Atlantic Ocean or the North Sea Sea. So my error message returned again. Haven’t seen it in a few days now, but now it came back. Now the check engine light. is lighting up again. So good thing I have that service appointment in 10 days time.. I call them today to see if they have the That was bad driving from that guy there. He had a pocket to pull off right next to him. Anyway, I have that service appointment in 10 days and I called them today to see if they have the part that I think it is, the brake light switch, and they said they probably had that or they could get it in a day and then they could fix that for me the day after if that was the error. So, fingers crossed I’m going up this valley here, and right on top here, you can see the Åfot Glacier, I believe. Never really see seen or heard much about that glacier so I wonder if I’ll get to see it when I get up this valley maybe maybe not. Some beautiful little hidden places in here Quiet towns townships, whatever you’d call it. This is quite interesting road. This could be very narrow. fun. So this place is called Hope, or Straight Out Hope Wow, these roads are really narrow and slow Look at this old school little farm here very pretty I might stay right here. Got good cell service and uh, yeah, 6 o’clock, feeling like stopping now. So it’s not gonna be the best campsite I’ve had on this trip, but it’ll be okay. I’m on the road again. It seems like this place here is like a forgotten valley or something. It’s super remote and the roads are so narrow. Very few vehicles coming through So I’m gonna head over to V and get a new hard drive. Yesterday, I did a little confir with Chad GTP about this brake like switch and I went under the dashboard and found it and wiggled it and checked a little bit. And I think I found a slightly loose connection, not 100% sure, but it could make a lot of sense. So I just have to see about how this goes Beautiful. This really is troll land got the trolls over on that side of the lake there lot of a lot of trolls frozen in stone here Up front here, we have some serious troll landscapes. There was some big trolls that have turned into stone up there. OK, so this is F. It’s my first time here. at the roundabout. Continue to stay on. Nostelvin, Rick’s Veg 5. Very gentrified center shopping malls all over the place So no point in stopping here. Definitely a much larger town than I thought it would be. This is the center of most things out here I’m sure. So need to go to an electronic store and get a new SSD hard drive from my videos. Alright, got everything sorted in Førde now gonna head up onto the Gaularfjellet mountain because there’s a heat wave coming in and it’s 27 degrees right now and it’s gonna get up to around 30 degrees, which is probably around 90°F Hey Siri, how much is 30°C in Fahrenheit? Yeah, 86 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s a bit warm for my van without air condition. So I need to get up into the m mountain so I can get some air flowing through. And it’s a mountain I’ve never been across before, so I’m excited to see this. Kind of a kind of dives steeply down into Palestistan. Very famous fjord destination after the mountain. So, never been out on any of these places here before, so All right, this is much cooler terrain again. It’s kind of a little bit uninteresting further out west because I’m spoiled now but now we’re getting into waterfalls and snow in the distance again, which is awesome Really nice in here. Beautiful valleys. And troll up here. former troll. Oh, there’s a beautiful campsite, but we’re not on the mountain yet Perfect spot right under a cell tower Wow. This is something… Beautiful. Some some little secret valley in here All right, we got S a little mini accident here. Well, they were already helped by that local farmer, so that’s good. Such a bad feeling. Having stuff like that happen out here. Wow, now we got some use in front of us. This is gonna be epic, I think. I would have never guessed that we had all this security in here so cool so awesome ViksdalenValley All right. I believe we’re going straight up towards that snowy mountain there All right, Here we go. Go. Stunning waterfalls here Awesome stuff. What a beautiful place. real dream destination up here. This is summer in Norway Beautiful.iful little. Place is up here. Just passed 70,000 kilometers. This road is so full of bumps and holes from the winter. Wow, they had a great spot there. Hmm. Just by the lake here. What an epic road I recommend going up so amazing. These rivers are creeks here, just amazing. That’s a great spot, too. Really great. This is cool. There’s one spot. What a great spot only problem plus my cell service and would have all over there. If I know these mountain passes right, there should be a high point up here, and there might be a cell phone tower close to that. This is just so many epic spots, but I don’t have cell service, so I can’t get internet and I need internet. Now I should have had Starlink. That’s what happens when you don’t have Starlink. So this is one of those circations where that would have helped immensely It is epic up in here Hey Siri open Google Maps So, I bet this is the top point. No cell service at all. It was beautiful. I might think. This is. I’m gonna drive all the way over there to look into the fjord, basically, and see if I can get some cell service there. Look at these old buildings. It’s just spectacular. All right, I need Starlink. I’m calling it. Okay this place up front is called The View. That’s probably where I’m parking, if it’s alive allowed. Let’s have a look at this. do do do Wow. That’s incredible. Awesome. Can I park here? Doesn’t look too promising. Full sum. cell service, though All right, so I took this beautiful spot here, pretty close to the road, but there’s kind of a turn off pocket, and then I’m outside of that again. Got good international. service here and I’m up on the mountain, so it’s not gonna be as hot as down in the valleys So down in the valleys, it’s going to be almost 30 degrees Celsius, and up here, it looks like it’s going to be around 22 and a little bit of wind so I can keep my windows open and get some air fl flowing through. Right now, it’s quite comfortable here, actually. Got both my sunroofs. I actually have the sunroof in the bathroom also, three sunroofs open and four windows open, so getting a pretty comfortable temperature in here now. Basically on the mountain. With waterfalls over here and Just spectacular here on Gulov, Yellow Mountain. Ily recommend this place All right, my friends so it is dinner time and today I’m gonna cook with the doors open I think and loving this view. So basically I’m gonna Make some I don’t remember if it was chicken or fish burgers crispy crispy fish burgers, actually. So yeah, crispy fish burgers, and I’m going to make that with caramelized onions and some chili or jalaños and hamburger bronze No cheese, I think. Maybe. Yeah. Of course, with chili mayo ask your would expect. So let’s get dinner going. Big Pam today Last onion there. Here. Some spinach. jalapeños. And where’s my chile mayo? There’s my. Cool, cool, cool. I think that’s it. So. It’s cut the onions. Okay. Okay, we’re getting a lot of wind here now, so I got to close the door. So the flame doesn’t blow out. Yeah, that’s better. Open the sunroof instead. hope that it doesn’t get too smelly in here with the onions and the fish burgers It’s a lot of stuff. Love this place. All right. Think. I think we’re done. All right? Fish burgers. I don’t know how good they are. Never. tried them before, but I’m sure they’re decent. Might want to open the door a little bit again. Yeah. So nice and warm outside. Might as well. eat outside as well. So let’s give it a try Yeah, that’s good. That works. Hmm. Hello? It’s Friday new episode of Long Way Home Ewan McGregor and Charlie Borman on Apple TV+. They’re great. across 20 years in three incredible events Charlie won’t be too much later. Look at that beautiful light. Almost looks like fall, but it’s actually spring. That’s the reason why it looks golden and red and brown is because it hasn’t turned green yet. And I got a little bit dessert and nectarine. What’s that? Well, and to good day. I’m Glad I went up here to this mountain. I have a one to go here for quite some time and just perfect weather for this, with this heat wave that’s coming in. It’s kind of pleasant up here. When the sun isn’t baking me too much. So I’m just going to enjoy the back of my van here. Look out. this view. Just relax on a Friday night It’s 8 o’clock and This is time for relaxation. I’ve finished a video. I’m posting tomorrow And everything is set up for that And tomorrow, it’s going to be even warmer, so it could hit around 25 degrees Celsius up here. And hey Siri, how much is 2 25°C in Fahrenheit 77 degrees Fahrenheit Yeah, that’s kind of pleasant if the sun isn’t too strong See you in the morning Well, it is midnight and I’m in the back of the van looking out the windows towards the mountains and we’re not even close to the Arctic circle. The sun is probably up over there. Come on. What? Ooh. Great. Good morning, my friends. It’s gonna be a really warm day today. And it’s 9 o’clock now. Got the most important meal today. Cheers, my friends. So final preparations for video release today. And That means it’s Saturday. Not sure if I’m just going to stay up here in this beautiful weather. If I go down into the valleys, I’m afraid that it’s going to be too hot. Let’s see the closest town is Beston. And well 25°C That’s not too bad, actually. And up here, it’s going to be 23, so. Not a huge difference. Not a lot of wind anywhere So, yeah, I don’t need to make any decisions here yet. It Could be a beautiful day to drive down there into the fjords, though, because tomorrow is gonna rain and… the views of the fjords could be spectacular today. We’ll see about that. We have a lot of time to make that decision. Yeah

Good afternoon the crazy world Arctic_yarl and the people❤😊 Many years ago, being a child, reading fantastic novels, I don’t even imagine that now I will have the whole world in my pockets will be electronic guns and a sea of funny gadgets .. All this is so that I can see the whole world and space in real time …
Jarl, I must say you looked very pleased with yourself, standing in the door of your van! And who wouldn’t be with a majestic view 90% of us will never see. Van life agrees with you for sure. This was truly one of your best videos yet, there are not enough words to describe the beauty. The closeups of the glacier were epic, quite a camera you have. As always, grateful to you for sharing your stunning Norway landscape. Stay safe❤
I was a bit surprised when you mentioned your van had no AC. How do you keep your windows from fogging up when it's cold and/or wet? Or is it just broken at the moment?
Hi Jarl ! Good Movie, A super glacier, very nice viewpoints, I love the waterfalls, the towns in the valleys on the fjords between the mountains is just nice .
The view from your car is unbeatable, nice for enjoy "The most important meal of the day"❗
M@nni
I really love these little towns in Norway. You could come back in winter and then stay in the valley by a beautiful rushing river of which I saw several. It is such a lovely area. Thanks for another wonderful video 💛
Thank you Jarl for taking us on a hike up to the glacier…absolutely stunning xxx
Another great video.
What kind of camera were you using just after you finished your dinner?
Do they watch over the glazier? Stop to many people going there?
Pretty flowers 😊

Hello my friend, I’ve been doing some research — I’m not sure if this information is accurate, but here it is:
The largest glacier in Europe is Vatnajökull, located in Iceland. It covers an area of approximately 8,100 km² and has a volume of 3,100 km³.
Love your videos..they are so natural! Thank you for sharing your day to day with us! ❤
Jarl, Thank You so much for another Epic Video. The cinematography is Top Notch as always and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Thank you also for the extended video length. I can watch your videos for hours and hours. Stay Safe My Friend 🙏🙏

so so cozy !! it's so amazing!!
breath taking!
Jarl, you are a wise ,strong man. I need some advice. It's about these stray cats. I worry about them. And try to help them. Many of them are very feral, and fight help. It's difficult.
Jarl, thank you for your input and advise. I don't expect you to solve my issues. But I deeply appreciate your wisdom.
Love that you hiked up to the glacier. We need to witness what is happening to our warming planet. Also love the trolls (even if they don't love me).
