Since Nihonbashi is the starting point of the Five Streets , it can be said that this place was the center of transportation, commerce and finance in Japan in the past . If you come to Nihonbashi to play, you will find that there are many old buildings or scenic spots converted from old banks. So this episode will start from here and show you the current appearance of Nihonbashi. Since Nihonbashi was the center of commerce and finance in the past , of course you have to visit a shrine related to money. I’m now at the Koami Shrine, which has become very popular on social media in recent years. You can see that even on weekdays, there are still so many people queuing up . There are actually many theories about why Koami Shrine is so famous . One of them is that during the Tokyo air raid, all the places near Koami Shrine were destroyed , but the shrine was completely safe. Another theory is that during World War II, all the soldiers who held the Koami Shrine amulet were safe, so it is said to be very effective and also… It is one of the few shrines in Tokyo that has a money laundering well. With the promotion of social media, it has become very popular in the past few years . I just went there to launder money. I took 10,000 yen to launder. The money laundering method is actually very simple. It doesn’t matter whether you want to launder banknotes or coins. There is a money laundering well on site. There is also a colander next to it. Put all the money in the colander and soak it in the water. That’s it. You should treat the money soaked in water as a mother money and keep it well in your wallet. It retains the bank structure at that time , but there are four shops with completely different styles. For example, the first floor sells bread “bank” , and next to it is “yen” that provides full meals, and the basement sells coffee and selected groceries “coin”. Next to Coin is “Fête” which displays flower art and vases. I don’t know if you have noticed that except for Fête, the names of the other three shops are all related to money. I think this is super cute and memorable. The bank on the first floor mainly sells bread, but there are not many seats inside the store. So if you don’t want to sit outdoors, you can buy bread and bring it to Coin on the ground floor to eat. But remember to order a drink before you can eat inside. I ordered their most popular croissant. The outer crust is hard and crispy, and it will fall off like crazy when you bite it , but it is very soft inside . I think it has a strong buttery aroma. I also recommend their other original This curry bread is really the crispiest curry bread I have ever eaten in Japan . Even if it is left for a while, the texture of the crust will not be affected. There are also a lot of fillings in it. I feel super full and satisfied just by eating this one . Now I came to another complex facility that was transformed from a century-old bank building. It is called K5. This hotel has been on my wish list for a very long time. I really want to stay here. It was awarded last year in 2024.

This restaurant is generally a place for guests of K5 Hotel to have breakfast in the morning , but it also provides lunch and dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant because as soon as you step into the restaurant, you can feel the strong sense of history it exudes. For example, its walls are really weathered walls , but it has not been specially repaired or refurbished , but its original appearance has been preserved. However, it has added some modern interior designs. Although I think the prices of the meals are a bit high , it is still worth a try considering that it is a century-old building. Now, the department store Mitsukoshi Main Store in Nihonbashi has a history of 350 years and is the oldest department store in Japan. If you come to this area, you will find that there are many department stores here, such as Mitsukoshi COREDO. Because Nihonbashi used to be the starting point of the Five Streets , Nihonbashi became the center of transportation and commerce. Many merchants and wholesalers would gather here in Nihonbashi, and it became the place where many shops and even department stores opened and prospered. Mitsukoshi Department Store has a very historical sense from the appearance of the building to the actual entrance . If you want to come to Mitsukoshi Main Store, I would like to recommend a dessert brand , which is the “hotel” in my hand. The progress” is their most recommended signature product , the flower petal chocolate. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on the Internet. How could there be such a beautiful product? Some people should be familiar with their signature product, which is the very luxurious fruit sundae. But today I will not order a fruit sundae , but want to recommend another signature product of Sembikiya , which is mango curry. Although mango curry is not so rare in modern times. The dish was actually considered a very creative dish at the time , and I had never eaten mango curry before. Anyway, I just ordered it to try. Although Sembikiya has many branches , the Nihonbashi Mitsui Building is their headquarters. There are about four restaurants and counters here. I recommend everyone to come here when you come to Nihonbashi to take a look at the amazing prices of fruits. The mango curry in the cafe on the first floor has less ingredients, and the restaurant on the second floor provides more. In addition to K5 and BANK, there is another store I want to recommend to everyone , which is teal where I am now. This teal is actually located in the Nihonbashi Museum. The Nihonbashi Museum was actually the residence of Shibusawa Eiichi in the past . If you come to Japan for a tour and get a new 10,000 yen banknote, the portrait on the 10,000 yen banknote is Shibusawa Eiichi. He is a pioneer in Japan’s modern economic development. A very important historical figure . His residence was originally at this address. After the Great Kanto Earthquake, his residence was completely destroyed. Later, the Tokyo Stock Exchange built the current Japan Stock Exchange Building on its original address. Even now, the Japan Stock Exchange Building is still used as a commercial office. One of the places on the first floor is occupied by Teal, which currently sells desserts, ice cream and the like. The most famous thing about Teal is the Italian gelato in my hand. There is a bakery in Takashimaya Department Store in Nihonbashi that I want to recommend to everyone. It is 365 Days. Some people may have heard of this bakery. This store is actually near Yoyogi Park . In 2018, a branch was opened in Takashimaya Department Store. This branch is very powerful. It won the Tabelog 100 Best Stores Award in 2022. The signature product of this bakery is the chocolate crispy ball bread in my hand. Isn’t it cute ? The feature of this bread is that you can taste three different chocolate flavors at the same time . The crispy ball on it is a kind of chocolate. It also uses ganache inside. In addition, the bread itself has chocolate kneaded into it . The whole bread is very small and cute. Basically, you can’t help but want to buy it when you see it. In addition to this chocolate bread , the main bread of this store is made of domestic wheat. The vegetables and fruits they use are also cooperated with local farmers. I ordered a vegetable-filled one called “畑”. If you want to use it in the Takashimaya branch, he stipulates that you must consume a minimum of one drink, so I ordered a cup of iced coffee.
