It seems like it’s used in a variety of ways. Is this it? It looks like Chiyunji Temple, but it’s mostly residential. Let’s just ignore it. This is the old Yoyogi Town lantern. This is Yoyogi Greenway. The Keio Line runs underground. It looks like the old waterway of the Tamagawa Aqueduct. The public toilet on the west approach to the shrine, “Utsuwa-Izumi.” It is said to be used as a filming location for movies. We arrived at Koshu Kaido. This is Shoshunji Temple, founded in 1620. 都市のざわめきの向こうに、そっと耳を澄ませば、足元をかすめる風の音や、葉擦れのささやきが聞こえてくる。代々木の町を歩き始めたその瞬間から、ビルの狭間に漂う緑の気配や、鉄路を渡る列車の響きが、街の鼓動として感じられた。首都高の下で見上げた高層の影、そこに寄り添うように祀られた屋敷神の祠の静けさ。紫陽花の彩りが道端に揺れ、旧代々幡町の灯籠や緑道の奥には、都会の喧騒を忘れさせる時間の隙間があった。参宮橋の踏切、甲州街道沿いの古刹、諦聴寺の門前で立ち止まると、遠い時代の祈りがかすかに聞こえてくるようだ。歩くほどに、賑わいと静寂が幾重にも重なる景色が現れ、都会の片隅に隠れていた深い時間の層が、目の前にそっと姿を現す。街が見せる二つの顔、その交錯する一瞬一瞬が、新たな記憶となって心に刻まれるだろう。
