Rome at 5 AM – The Most Peaceful Hour | 4K Walking Tour

Hi! I’m Luca and I’m taking you to discover Rome waking up at 5 in the morning. A magical and unique experience! Here we are on Via del Lavatore, one of the most romantic streets in the historic center. The name comes from the ancient washerwomen. And here she is: the Trevi Fountain! At 5 in the morning it’s almost completely deserted. A sight that few have seen like this. Designed by Nicola Salvi in 1732, it’s 26 meters high and 49 meters wide. The water comes from the ancient Vergine aqueduct. Neptune at the center dominates the waters, flanked by Health and Abundance. Every detail tells a story. Fun fact: about 3000 euros are collected daily from tourists’ coins. The money goes to charity through Caritas. Via Poli takes us toward the heart of Rome’s most elegant district. Many 18th-century artists lived here. Via del Tritone takes its name from Bernini’s Triton Fountain. One of the main arteries of the center. This street has connected Piazza Barberini to Via del Corso since 1870. Pure 19th-century Rome! This building you see is the famous Rinascente of Rome, a luxury fashion shopping center. You can find the best high fashion brands here. Via Francesco Crispi, dedicated to the Sicilian politician who unified Italy. Elegance and history in every building. Via Gregoriana, one of Rome’s most fascinating streets. Giorgio de Chirico lived here. The buildings date back to the 17th century, built for the papal nobility. Every doorway hides artistic treasures. If you’re enjoying this exclusive dawn tour of Rome, leave a like and tell me in the comments: which of these places would you like to visit in person? At the end of the street we find Palazzetto Zuccari.
The palace is famous for its monstrous decorations that recall the creatures from the Monster Park of Bomarzo. Piazza della Trinità dei Monti! The heart of Rome’s French quarter. The church is administered by France. The square was arranged in 1816 with the Egyptian obelisk at the center. It comes from the Baths of Sallust. Here’s the famous Spanish Steps! 135 steps inaugurated in 1725. At 5 in the morning it’s all ours. Designed by Francesco De Sanctis, it connected the square to the French church. A masterpiece of Roman baroque. Fun fact: it was built with money from a French diplomat. Today it’s a UNESCO heritage site. Piazza di Spagna, Rome’s living room! Without tourists at 5 in the morning it’s a completely different experience. The “Barcaccia” by Bernini’s father collects water from the Vergine aqueduct. Boat-shaped due to the 1598 flood. Via dei Condotti, Italy’s most famous luxury shopping street. The name comes from the ancient aqueduct. Here the first Caffè Greco opened in 1760, frequented by Goethe and Casanova. Timeless elegance. Via Bocca di Leone, one of the most exclusive streets of the Roman Trident. It takes its name from an ancient fountain. Via Frattina, an elegant street where you can find many fashion shops and more. How I love these deserted streets. Via del Corso, Rome’s most famous street! 1.5 km long, it has connected Piazza del Popolo to Piazza Venezia since 1500. Here they used to run the horse “Corso” during the Roman Carnival. A tradition that lasted 400 years. We’re discovering a magical and deserted Rome! If you like this unique experience, subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss the next secret tours of the eternal city! Piazza Colonna, Rome’s political center! Palazzo Chigi, seat of government, and the famous Column of Marcus Aurelius. The column is 30 meters high, completed in 193 AD. It tells the story of the emperor’s Germanic wars. Fun fact: the statue on top is Saint Paul, not Marcus Aurelius as it should be. It was changed in 1589 by the Pope! Piazza Monte Citorio, seat of Parliament! The Egyptian obelisk of Psammetico II has been marking time for 2600 years. Palazzo Montecitorio, designed by Bernini, has housed the Chamber of Deputies since 1871. The heart of Italian democracy. Via in Aquiro brings us closer to one of the wonders of the ancient world. Via delle Colonnelle gives us the classic emotion of the narrow streets of the center, just think that in a few hours there will be a great hustle and bustle of people here. Via del Pantheon leads us toward an iconic monument of Rome. The excitement grows with every step. Piazza della Rotonda and the Pantheon! The oldest and best-preserved temple of ancient Rome. Pure magic! The Pantheon: built by Hadrian in 126 AD on a previous temple. The dome is still the largest unreinforced masonry dome in the world. The oculus at the center is 9 meters wide, the only source of natural light. When it rains, water really comes in! Fun fact: it was transformed into a church in 609 AD, saving it from destruction. That’s why it’s still perfect today. I recommend not missing the video I made when there’s the famous rain of red petals from the oculus. A unique event, I’ll leave it in the description. We take Salita d’Crescenzi, as we’ll see shortly on this particular street you can notice two remains of the columns from the Baths of Nero. We’re on Via della Vecchia Dogana which, as the name tells us, is exactly where there was an ancient headquarters. Every step tells two thousand years of history… If you also love Rome like me, leave a comment with your favorite corner of the city! Via del Salvatore, between the senate headquarters on the left and the beautiful Church of San Luigi dei Francesi, accompanies us toward elegance made into a square. And here we are in Piazza Madama, dominated by Palazzo Madama, seat of the Italian Senate. Piazza Navona, Rome’s baroque living room! Built on Domitian’s stadium, it maintains the shape of the ancient arena. Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers represents the four known continents. Each statue is a masterpiece. At the center is Domitian’s obelisk, 16 meters high, from ancient Egypt. Bernini made it “fly” over the water. Sant’Agnese in Agone by Borromini challenges Bernini’s fountain. An artistic rivalry that makes the square unique. Fun fact: here they used to flood it for water games during summer weekends in the 1600s. That’s how the nobles had fun! The beautiful Fountain of Neptune, which accompanies us with its sweet sound of flowing water. Largo Febo dominated by the beautiful climbing plant on this elegant hotel. Via dei Coronari, the street of antique dealers! The name comes from the sellers of crowns and rosaries for pilgrims. Perfectly preserved Renaissance palaces house Rome’s oldest shops. Every store tells centuries of history. We walk along Via Giuseppe Zanardelli, a street dedicated to Giuseppe Zanardelli, who was an Italian patriot and politician. This street is gradually opening up the view of one of the palaces I find most majestic and beautiful in Rome. The so-called “Palazzaccio” as we Romans call it, seat of the Supreme Court of Cassation of Rome. Recently renovated. Ponte Umberto I, our finale! Built in 1895 to celebrate the unity of Italy. The Tiber flowing eternally. Thank you for walking with me through Rome as it wakes up. At 5 in the morning it’s only ours! If you enjoyed this unique tour, leave a like and subscribe to the channel! 1.

    Amo Roma ♥️
Muchas gracias por tus increibles videos .
    Abrazos ♥️♥️♥️🌻🌻🌻🌞🌞🌞☀️☀️☀️🫂

  8. Influencers are the worst thing to happen. 5am and a bunch of girls are in front of Trevi Fountain all dressed up, fixing their hair, taking nonstop photos.

  9. Loved the vibe of this video—so relaxing and real.
I felt like I was actually there walking with you.
Just subscribed! I make similar chill walking videos from Japan too, no talking or cuts.
Come check it out if you ever feel like a virtual stroll 🇯🇵

  10. A perfect hour to gloat over the colours of the buildings in the rising sun, to listen intently to the murmur of the fountains, to sit and stare at the engineering genius of the Pantheon or just walk unperturbed by other people. But something is missing- the atmosphere of the busy Roma Eterna, the buzz, the chatter, the car honks, the crowds, the hubbub of restaurants. On the other hand it’s rewarding to have the city entirely to yourself and enjoy the morning chill.
You ask about a favourite corner in Rome, well, I have a few, but probably the most beloved is Esquilino with Santa Maria Maggiore because the great GL Bernini is laid there to rest. Thank you, Luca for showing us the places we hold dear but also a remarkable new sight- this time the Largo Febo. ❤ LPS

  11. Luca hola 👋🏻😊🇨🇴
