🇩🇪年越しは港で打ち上げ花火!?初めてのハンブルクが想像以上だった|ドイツの大晦日と鉄道ジオラマ旅Vol.6

This time, I visited Hamburg, a port city in northern Germany The riverside scenery and historic buildings were so picturesque It’s also home to one of the world’s largest model railways, and it was more fun than I imagined At the New Year’s Eve fireworks show, I was mesmerized by the beautiful lights The food was delicious, making it a very fulfilling trip Thank you as always for watching If you enjoyed this video, please consider subscribing to the channel I arrived at Hamburg Central Station by train from Bremen It was just after 6 PM, the city lights were starting to glow beautifully Bremen was also amazing, by the way If you haven’t seen my Bremen video, be sure to check it out Right outside the station stands a majestic clock tower Next to it is the Deutsches Schauspielhaus, opened in 1900 From the very entrance, this city welcomes you with history and culture During the holiday season, hotel prices were high and options were limited I stayed at an Ibis hotel, one of the more affordable choices—still pricier than usual The room was compact but clean and functional The bed was comfy and there was a work desk by the window A small TV and luggage rack—just the basics The bathroom had only a shower but was very clean This time, I booked a New Year’s Eve cruise in Hamburg through GetYourGuide It was about 14,000 yen per person—a bit pricey but worth booking in advance I took a taxi to the pier, passing through the lively night streets The area was already bustling with people in a festive mood The boat was fully packed, mostly with visitors from Europe and the US There were hardly any other Asians—it felt like entering a different world At the port, I saw the massive cruise ship VENTURA It belongs to P&O Cruises, a major British cruise line The way the ship glowed under the lights at night was breathtaking It made me realize that Hamburg is a truly international port This harbor blends industry and tourism in a fascinating way On one side, giant container ships sit silently On the other, illuminated tourist boats glide by Even before midnight, fireworks started lighting up the sky Apparently, individuals are allowed to set off fireworks on New Year’s Eve In Germany, this is a tradition allowed only from Dec 31 to Jan 1 At the stroke of midnight, the entire port lit up in dazzling flashes In Germany, New Year’s is all about setting off your own fireworks The entire city joins in—it’s like a people’s firework show Frohes neues Jahr! Happy New Year from Hamburg On New Year’s Eve, Hamburg’s harbor turns into a giant firework stage This is the only night in Germany when anyone can freely launch fireworks That sense of freedom is part of the New Year celebration itself The port, the ships, the city—everyone becomes the star for the night Hamburg’s countdown really captures the German spirit As the night wore on, the cruise came to an end and the port slowly quieted down Souvenir shops were closing up, leaving behind echoes of the celebration But… fireworks and firecrackers were still going strong at the harbor Some young people and locals of Middle Eastern descent were lighting their final rockets The moment he lit the firework… It flew in the wrong direction—straight toward us It could’ve been a serious accident That was a pretty intense way to ring in the new year The subway was well-managed with one-way traffic and no chaos
Time to head back to the hotel and say goodnight The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed My hotel plan didn’t include breakfast, but I decided to add it on the day for about 19 euros The breakfast buffet in Hamburg was way better than expected The basics like salad, ham, and cheese were all there There were also chia yogurt and cut fruit—great variety The calm morning gave me a nice and peaceful start Boiled eggs, crispy bacon, and scrambled eggs A sweet Berliner pastry welcomed me with a Guten Morgen There were so many types of ham and sausage—I couldn’t resist Here’s what I had for breakfast
A mix of sweet and savory, just a little of each First, oiling the waffle iron and getting everything ready Pouring the batter slowly into the center Lightly oiling the top plate too Closing the lid, I could hear the sizzle And the delicious aroma began to rise Even the wait was a treat in this cozy morning moment Eventually, the waffle turned a beautiful golden brown I lifted it up gently—a perfectly crispy waffle, freshly made I quietly enjoyed this little morning reward After breakfast, it was time for the highlight of the trip I visited Miniatur Wunderland, one of Hamburg’s most famous attractions It’s located inside a historic warehouse in the Speicherstadt district, a UNESCO site This is the world’s largest miniature and model railway exhibition With my VR ticket in hand, I dove into the immersive experience First up—a futuristic tunnel glowing with light Inside, I was amazed by the full-body gear setup The world around me shifted, bending time and space Approaching the red wall triggered a “Caution!” sign Touching it brought me back to reality—clever detail Looking back, I realized everything had been part of the show Those 10 minutes flew by in a surreal flash This place began in 2000 when twin brothers set out to build the world’s best model railway The first section opened in 2001, and it’s still expanding today The total exhibit area is over 10,000 square meters, with tracks stretching over 15 kilometers Over 1,300 trains run through it, with more than 100,000 miniature figures A daring voyage across icy seas Here’s a replica of the stunning Municipal Theater in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Every tiny scene is filled with incredibly detailed daily life Just press a button and a whale rescue mission begins This zone recreates a scientific base in Antarctica The miniature world grows larger every year In German towns, public squares become the stage for everyday stories The model railway is recognized by Guinness World Records at 15,715 meters long This is a section replicating a pig farm in Germany It’s so realistic, you’d forget it’s miniature In this medieval village, peace and past wars coexist A steam engine crosses a bridge—full of lifelike presence even in miniature Soldiers march across the bridge, capturing a tense moment from another era Displays about war help Germany confront and reflect on its past Here’s a faithful replica of Monaco’s F1 Grand Prix circuit Watching the race from a balcony seat—a dream come true in miniature Luxury yachts cruise through the Mediterranean in style Glitzy Monaco—where history and wealth meet in this tiny principality A small train quietly passes through the Italian fishing villages of Cinque Terre The mighty Colosseum of ancient Rome rises again in miniature Wandering around Venice’s graceful Piazza San Marco Even the bustling chaos outside Rome’s Termini Station is faithfully recreated That’s the famous Rialto Bridge crossing the Grand Canal Here’s the stunning Landwasser Viaduct from Switzerland’s scenic railway A quiet lakeside resort nestled deep in the Alps Look closely and you’ll see the Holcim logo—a global Swiss construction giant This incredibly detailed miniature airport even simulates real takeoffs and landings It took six years to build and cost a whopping €3.5 million Lights, sounds, and movement combine for the world’s most realistic airport experience An Air France plane taxis onto the runway—just about to take off Even the whale-shaped Beluga XL cargo plane makes an appearance There’s even a scene showing an emergency landing with real smoke effects Wait—did the Millennium Falcon just appear on the runway? Sometimes even spaceships take flight at this miniature airport A perfect little surprise for Star Wars fans Sadly, I didn’t spot a JAL plane—disappointing for a loyal member like me This is the “control center” at the heart of Miniatur Wunderland Staff monitor and manage the whole system around the clock Here’s a recreation of Germany’s traveling fairground, the Volksfest The Ferris wheel and roller coasters actually move with real lights and sounds Is that a nudist area? Just sunbathing, I guess lol This is Landungsbrücken, a famous riverside spot in Hamburg Sleigh bells ring in a snow-covered village A quiet winter’s day from another time In this tiny world I found big surprises and gentle moments Traveling through these miniatures Was truly a joyful experience I hope they’ll add more Asian countries one day too Rows of red-brick buildings line the canals—this is the world’s largest warehouse district Welcome to Hamburg’s Speicherstadt It was built in the late 19th century as a duty-free zone within the Free Port Goods like spices and carpets were once stored here using the canal system Today it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site that continues to fascinate visitors This building with a wave-like glass roof stands out on Hamburg’s harbor
It’s the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg You can enjoy the view from the Plaza observation deck completely free
Just make sure to pick up a ticket to enter The futuristic concert hall sits atop an old brick warehouse Completed in 2017, it has quickly become the city’s new symbol The main hall has about 2,100 seats with world-class acoustics Artists from all over the world perform everything from classical to contemporary music The wave-like roof represents the harmony of the Elbe River and music From the Plaza, you get panoramic views of Hamburg At night, the building is lit up and looks absolutely magical It’s a place where history and innovation meet in a temple of music In German, it’s affectionately called the “Elphi” This is a must-see spot where you can feel both architectural and cultural harmony My day of sightseeing in Hamburg flew by A cold wind blew in from the canal and chilled me to the bone So I stopped by a restaurant called Kaisers The warm interior and tasty beer were just what I needed The meat was so tender my knife glided right through it Juices burst with every bite—it was heavenly The tangy red cabbage and potato dumplings were also superb Thank you, Hamburg—it was a feast By the Outer Alster Lake stands the iconic Hotel Atlantic Opened in 1909, this five-star hotel has hosted many celebrities Even James Bond stayed here in the film “007: Tomorrow Never Dies” Next time, I’ll take you to the historic city of Dresden Thanks so much for watching until the very end Welcome to Dresden, the former royal capital of East Germany A jewel on the Elbe River, known for its art and architecture The Old Town feels like stepping back in time At night, church domes glow with a magical aura It’s a city of opera houses and art museums, perfect for walking Don’t miss the famous Striezelmarkt Christmas fair Stalls full of crafts and sweets—it’s like a treasure hunt The aroma of hot mulled wine warms the heart and body Visit the VW “Glass Factory” and witness EV production in action A one-of-a-kind place where tradition meets the future A calm and soulful city—perfect for the end of your journey Be sure to join me for the full Dresden episode next time
