The GOAT List of Thailand 🇹🇭 (Greatest Of All Time)
Welcome to the greatest of all time Thailand
edition. This week I wanted to show my love and appreciation to Thailand. This beautiful country
has been my home not just for the YouTube channel but for me as a person for over 10 years. And so
I put together a list of 10 questions about what is the greatest of all time things in Thailand.
It can be food, it can be destinations, islands, all these types of things I will answer along
with a few other familiar faces. people who have also called Thailand home or have made
fantastic content here in the past. Let me know in the comments below the answers to some of the
questions that we’re going to ask today. Right, let’s get into it. What is the goat Thai dish? I
love Thai food, almost all Thai food, but probably if I could choose just one dish for the rest of my
life to eat, it would be southern Thai gang, which in Bangkok is often called ganglang, but it’s a
sour curry. It is made with lots of turmeric with lots of uh chilies, garlic, tamarind. There’s
shrimp paste in there. Yeah, it’s one of my favorite dishes. I could eat it every day. For
me, it has to be pack, right? You can get it pork, you can get it beef, you can get it chicken,
you can get it tofu, you can get it mushroom, you can get it on the street, you can get it in
a restaurant, pretty much on every corner in this country. And it’s my staple. Pak kapow with crispy
pork. You can’t go wrong with it for me. Papaya salad, grilled chicken, and sticky rice. Good
shower. Ladna. I really addicted to ladna. It’s a I think it’s a rice noodle with vegetables and
pork in a thick gravy sauce. And yeah, I really love ladna. Pad kra. Come on. You go first. Let’s
go together. On three. One, two, three. Pad kra. The easy answer is pad kra. But for me, I think
my favorite dish is mukrab crispy pork with salt, chili, and garlic served over rice. I would say
for me is Thai boat noodle. The one that they put pig’s blood in the broth. I love a good uh pad
Thai. However, my favorite Thai dish is pad cu. For me, there’s no doubt about it. It’s a northern
dish called hangle and it’s a a mild pork curry made with ginger. It’s just absolutely beautiful
for me. It is kangai. Half fried chicken, half boiled chicken on top of rice with a hot soup
on the side. I can eat that every single day. What is the goat place to visit in Thailand? I’m going
to go with Bangkok. This city is insane and there is something for everyone here. There’s nice,
polished, high-end parts of the city. There’s also grimy, chaotic, this insane side to Bangkok. It
has to be Cowok National Park. The most beautiful man-made lake, but with these incredible limestone
cliffs, caves, emerald green, and blue waters. If you get the opportunity to stay on the lake on a
floating hotel, for example, it’s just a magical experience. You’ll never forget your time in Cowoc
National Park. I’m gonna go with Cows National Park. This place is just otherworldly. I would
have to say it would be somewhere up around the north and around the pa or the Nan area. And the
scenery there is amazing. So yeah, 100% I would say PA. Chantaburi. Chantaburi. Eastern Thailand.
You got jungle, mountains, coast, some of the best food, the best people. Yeah, easy. That’s a tough
one. But I fell in love with Nan Province, Dean. We went there last year and we fell in love with
it instantly. Some of the provinces that really come to mind or stand out are Meongan, Chiangai,
Naan, and in the south, I really love Patalum. I really love uh Ban Kiri Wong, which is a village
town in the mountains in Nakansi Tamarat. What is the goat local experience that you’ve had
in Thailand? A nice walk along the river on the co uh Kong sand side is a very nice local
experience. For us, the goat Loto experience has to be Bun Bang Thai. This is a rocket festival
held in EAN every year before the rainy season. They fill rockets with about 20 lbs of gunpowder
all made by hand in PVC tubes and then set them off in the sky. And yeah, health and safety is
not a big thing here as you know in Thailand, but it’s amazing to see. We absolutely loved
it and I’d recommend anyone go to Bunbang Fi probably Mata in Patalong. We went to this village
by the river and we went to harvest clams in the mud and did the mud spa and ate fresh oysters off
the oyster farm. One of the best experiences in Thailand. A few years ago, I gave a few cameras
to some subscribers and we went on a motorbike tour around Mi Hong. We did the famous loop. It
was definitely my favorite experience living in Thailand and traveling around, getting to do the
Mihong Loop with a bunch of other people creating something magical. I would have to go with walking
through an authentic Thai market. Can’t beat the uh market experience. So, back in 2022, I was
in Colanta with my friends Cash and Sabrina, and they travel there every year. They know the
place Inside Out. So, they took me to a local restaurant called Quan’s Cookery Restaurant,
run by this lovely lady called Quan. such a sweet person with an amazing personality and she
would invite you into the kitchen while she was cooking and let you try out different things. And
this is a place that if I was there by myself, I could have easily just walked past. But because
Cash and Sabrina knew the area, they took me to the right place, got to hang out with the locals
and try out some incredible, incredible food. Really [ __ ] excellent. And the dish that I had
was called cow soy, which I’ve never had before. And it was just phenomenal. So I could more than
happily eat that forever. Maybe a little side of some vegetable spring rolls. I remember when I
first came to Thailand, I went to the mountains with a friend and met her family. They were really
farmers from the country and lived the basic Thai life and he was giving me Lao cow and the Lao cow
had bits floating in it and they were cooking raw, no hygiene or nothing. And it just felt like I was
miles away from Chiang Mai city and that’s that’s something that always stuck with me. We’re up in
rural Pic province in the village. We headed off out into the countryside into the rice fields. We
caught some giant rats. Then we cooked them up. We made a dry spicy curry. For me, you can’t beat
driving through Rural Lean on a motorbike being invited in for rice wine everywhere you go. I
remember there was a time when our car broke down in Huahin and we took it to like a local garage
to fix and then the lady there was like, “Well, what are you going to do? What are you planning
to do in the national park here?” and she said, “Why don’t you take my motorbike? I’ll grab
you some helmets and you can go explore and come back for your car in two hours.” And I
just thought that was a cool experience and you wouldn’t get that anywhere else. For me, it’s
getting out of the tourist areas and going into the local neighborhoods and even some of the slum
I I hate that word slum, but slum areas like Kong toy. I’ve been into those communities and been
welcomed with open arms. People have invited me into their homes. I went up north and I went
deep, deep, deep off the beaten track. And this is where your goat local experience can happen.
I met a couple of teachers. And to go and get off the beaten path is just so rewarding. What
is the goat thing to buy at 7-Eleven? Don’t say beer. Don’t say beer. Don’t say beer. Don’t say
beer. Beer. I always buy mixed nuts. Mixed spicy nuts. Easy cocoa max coconut water. Mine might be
boring, but I always get the jumbo big bow. So, like a steamed bun with meat inside. So, there’s
these little It’s like kimop. It’s a Korean. It’s seaweed wrapped around a tube of rice with
something stuffed in the middle. It’s It’s the kimchi flavor. Try it out. Get them to heat
it up for you and uh let me know what you think. I love the two boiled eggs that they do. It’s a
little plastic box and you take them home. They’re already pre-boiled. I know it sounds ridiculous,
but just having hardboiled eggs ready for you is amazing. And you crack them at home, chuck
them in your lunch, chuck them in your dinner, just add extra protein for about what was it, 12
B or something. The thing that comes to mind is to which are boiled peanuts. Boring with my my
snack options. I like to eat a lot of nuts, but the boiled peanuts at 7-Eleven are amazing. And
also the sunflower seeds. The go thing to buy at a 7-Eleven in Thailand is obviously a ham and cheese
toasty. But what I always do in the morning is I’ll go to 7-Eleven, get a ham and cheese toasty,
and then I’ll go to a little stall on the street and get a banana smoothie. And those together is
just your perfect Thai breakfast. What is the goat island in Thailand? For me, this changes all the
time because when I revisit or go to a new island, it quite quickly becomes my favorite. But
right now, if you had a gun to my head, I’d probably say Koset. Kosamett is an underrated
island in my opinion, and you can really have an awesome time there. And to be able to get there
in 2 hours is just that’s the winner for me. Koku, it’s in eastern Thailand. It’s super chill. Feels
like the good old days. There’s no highrises, massive hotels, there’s no traffic. Yeah, I know.
It’s so nice. Colanta. I’m going to list my three favorite Thai islands. I’ll go with Copanyan,
Copayam, which is different from Copanyan, and Kosumat, which I learned about thanks to
Patty. I’d known about it before, but thanks to Patty’s video, I finally went there just a
few months ago and uh really liked it. Somebody here wants to say hello. Hello, Rosie. This is
my mom’s cat. I still love Simui, you I still love co movie cuz I’ve got all these memories
going back to the 80s, you know, where it was like it was like Robinson Cruso. It was like uh 40
B a night, but it’s still a beautiful island. Got Simui because that’s where we are living now and
we’re planning to build our dream home here. Well, you know me, I’m a Simui guy. But Simui has so
much more to offer than just Changang Beach. That’s why I call it home and that’s why it’s the
goat island. What is the goat Thai word or phrase? It means I eat Thai spicy. One of my favorite Thai
phrases is which means good luck. And I think it’s a really nice thing that Thai people say to each
other. My pet my gin, which that’s a very special phrase for me. It translates directly to uh not
spicy, not eating. I would go to eat at the at my my favorite little aanamang stall, which is a
stir fry stall. And so I’d eat there every day, but every day I’d try to order a different dish
so I could try new dishes, but I’d always order it spicy. So every day I’d be like, uh, pka pongari.
And she’d yell out to her to the chef who was like across the room and be like, pongari, my pet,
my gin, or padkap, my pet my gin. There are so many funny phrases here, but my favorite
is falank. When you’re being a cheap skate, when you’re being a cheap Charlie, Thai people
will say felank. And I think it’s really funny. Black. Black. Black. Black just means strange.
Weird. Use this one with a, you know, a tie that you know a bit already. Maybe if you’re having a
drink together and you’ve got a bit of rapport, which means you are a person with no merit
whatsoever. In your next life, you will be reborn as a cockroach. Mayo, not spicy, not tasty.
I think that’s the only way to get them to get it as spicy as I like it. What’s the goat hidden
gem in Thailand? Well, comment below. Oh, I I’d like to hear what your hidden gems are. Maybe
I’ll go check them out. But for me, you know, I used to consider Raleigh Beach a hidden gem,
but it’s no longer a hidden gem. But I’m going to say Tonsai Beach, which is literally next door
to Raleigh. It’s almost empty. It takes you back in time to what that whole area was like, uh, you
know, 20, 30 years ago. There’s a place in Utaiani called Hoop Patat. It’s a tiny little jungle
surrounded by limestone cliffs and it’s kind of been isolated from the rest of the world for
thousands of years and there were really unique little plants and animals and bugs that live
in there and it’s so magical. Not many people know about it. It’s in the middle of nowhere but
hoop patat Peton definitely Peton. They have this temple with stacking Buddha statues high up in the
mountain. Favorite hidden gem? I don’t know. Is there any hidden gems left? If you go to Lumpini
Park, there’s a black cat. It’s always hiding and it doesn’t come out much unless you got food. So,
it’s a lovely cat. So, I suppose that is a kind of hidden gem, isn’t it? There’s a place called Pari.
You got to be careful how you say that in Thai. It is just this teeny little village and it’s just
got this incredible view. You look down from the village. You’re looking down on two mountains that
got a like a gap between them and you’re looking down beyond these two mountains to like the plains
of Chiang Rai province. It just leaves me in awe. Anywhere on the Mechong River up in the northeast,
Nakon Panong, Bungan, any small town or city, you can’t go wrong. One of the best places on
earth. I really like Patalong as well though cuz the nature surrounding it is so beautiful.
What’s the goat overrated destination in Thailand? has to be Phuket. For some reason, I don’t think
I’m going to be the only person to say this one, but it’s Phuket. You know, Phuket or Paya.
I’m gonna go with Kosamui and Copangan. Sorry, not my vibe at all. Paya. I just feel like
it’s a bit not very welcoming for females. My goat overrated destination is not so much a
destination as it is an event which is the full moon party on Copanyang. Now Copanyang is still
a beautiful island. Like places like Bottle Beach are just absolutely stunning. But the Full Moon
Beach party was just [ __ ] right? I’m going to be controversial here. Bangkok. It’s the most
overrated and underrated at the same time. It’s a giant city. It has everything. But everyone
goes to the exact same places. But out there, you’ve got a whole city to explore full of good
food, good people, and yeah, just quintessentially Thai things. What is the goat overrated
destination in Thailand? That’s a bit harsh. Uh, the second half of the Mihong Loop. It’s a bit
boring. It’s not as good as the first half. I’m going to go with Huah Hin. I’ve been there twice.
I was there uh fairly recently and uh I just found it to be a very, you know, overly busy beach with
hotels on it. Just nothing unique about it. I’m going to say the district of Nana in Sukumit.
I mean, that’s the busiest part of Sukumvit, but I’m going to say that it’s overrated. It does
one thing very, very good. And if you’re not if you’re not looking for that one thing, then it’s
an overrated area. What’s the goat place to have a cold beer in Thailand? Good question. I like this
one. for us. Anywhere in Thailand, as long as you have a Leo and a nice glass of ice, anywhere in
Gossipling. Got to be a restaurant on the beach with your feet in the sand. I think you can’t beat
your first ever bottle of Chang on Kowan Road. For me, it was years and years ago. I think 2008. That
first sip of Thai beer in a hot, sweaty street with music and the sights and the smells and the
sensory overload of Kowsan Road. Your first beer on Kowan Road has to be the goat beer in Thailand.
Sitting on the Meong in Changong in Changraai Province overlooking the river and overlooking Lao
at sunset. It’s got to be the Mechong River. It has to be. Sitting there watching the world go by,
looking at the mountains in the distance. It’s one of the greatest places on earth. Couple of salty
snacks like some crunchy duck beaks. Mhm. Spot on. Probably everywhere is good to have a cold beer
in Thailand. And especially I love having a cold beer along with jungle food. Have some jungle
food, salty, spicy, and have a cold beer with that. And that’s a perfect combination. Pi up in
the north of Thailand when you’re looking out over the hills in the nighttime in a little shanty bar
in Pi. It just it’s just amazing. That’s that’s probably one of the best places I’ve ever had a
beer on the beach watching the sunset drinking a cold Leo singer Sam Miguel. Not a Chang. This is
a no-brainer. Well, recently on Carl’s Thailand, one of my most recent videos, I covered this
uh beach just inside Chimpon Province as you’re heading south. And it’s just this secluded
little beach and it’s got like a single bar. It’s definitely not on the on the wellbeaten path yet.
And it it’s just stunning. If I could have a cold beer anywhere right now, that would be it. What’s
the goat tourist stereotype in Thailand? Ah, this one is tough. Well, on the island, I see a
lot of foreigners driving scooters with no shirt on. It would have to be people dressing up in
elephant pants, elephant shirt, walking around, just being so vividly unaware of how blissfully
stereotypical they’re being, and I love them. Elephant pants, drunk bricks, walking around
with no top on, 7-Eleven to theies, Chang vests, sunburn, no spars. I don’t want any spades. No
spicy. People who land and immediately get dressed into elephant print clothing. Full elephant print
clothing. Guys, you won’t believe what I just got from 7-Eleven. A toasty. Oh my god. You don’t
know how amazing these are. These only cost one. Don’t forget to like and subscribe. These are
pretty good. I think my personal favorite if I was going to think of stereotypes would be maybe
you call him paya man often times cleanly shaven head there’s nothing wrong with that you know
bit of a motorbike bit of a pot belly which is nothing wrong with that and maybe a a young 20s
something tie girl hanging off his arm what’s your personal goat memory in Thailand that’s probably
the hardest question I’m sure we’ve all got about a million good memories memories. It must be the
moment where we purchased our land in Gossamoy and the previous owner handed the land papers
to us. Has to be my series where I rode from Bangkok to the border with Malaysia. The people,
the destinations, the food. I’ll remember that one forever. A long time ago, me and my friend
were hitchhiking from Chiang Mai to Pi for fun. And a policeman pulled us over and asked us, “What
are we doing?” And we explained, “We’re trying to hitchhike. we want to get a free ride to the next
town and there are trucks passing by and we think we can jump in the back. And we thought, “Oh god,
are we going to get in trouble?” But no, he said, “Oh, I’ll help you.” And he just stood on the side
of the road and he hitchhiked with us. He flagged down a car, told him, you know, what we wanted.
And the couple in the front drove us all the way to Pi. And that happened about two or three more
times whilst hitchhiking around Thailand. The Thai police here are incredibly funny, incredibly
friendly, and I don’t think they get enough love in Thailand. If I think of just the YouTube
era the last 5 years, it’s got to be finding out Paddyy was a Newcastle fan. Maya Bay, I’ve been
there a couple of times, but when I went there in 2022 with Paddyy and a few others, the timing
and the conditions were just right to make this place like the ultimate paradise. And the reason
was Maya Bay had just reopened after being closed for refurbishment for like a couple years, I
think. Plus, it was January 2022, so we were just coming out the pandemic, so there wasn’t that
many other tourists around. The sand was so white and so clean. The water was crystal clear. There’s
little baby sharks just swimming around. And doing what I do and what Patty does, we obviously spent
a lot of time filming it and getting all the shots we wanted. And then we just had enough time to put
the camera away for like an hour and just sit down and just take it all in. We met a lovely family in
Chantterbury and they took us out to the beach to waterfalls. They they made us food. They made us
Oh, it was just they made us feel like part of the family. And that is like my favorite memory for
me. It was going down to Kong Toy for the first time, walking into a slum dangerous area, not
sure if I was going to get robbed or beaten up or have things stolen from me. And then to instead
be invited into people’s homes and have them share their meals with me. and we drank together and
I formed friendships that I still have 4 years later. I get invited back to birthday parties now
and special events down there and I’ve been made to feel like part of the community down there
which blows my mind. The first time you come to Thailand, you’re always chasing that first time.
I think there’s nothing more special than when you first get to Bangkok or Chiang Mai, that very
first time. That will always be the best moment. I think the best the best sort of memory. the best
that first ever time and especially when I come here to Chiang Mai. Nothing beats that first time,
man. That that first trip that I made here. 1992 on the two occasions where I got to see a wild
tiger at Coway National Park when they still had them there. Yeah, that is definitely my uh my best
memory in Thailand. Uh one time I was in Nakonita Marat and they have this there’s a fruit which is
called the Nepa palm fruit which are these little jellies and they actually make sugar from it. But
I had no idea you could make a curry from the the little jellies and also just the the uniqueness
and the how incredible the fruit is. So we went to a village where they chop where they grow
nepa palms and then we got one of the it looks like a alien ball. They did the whole process.
They cut the little fruits and they made this just unbelievable curry from it. We used to go to
the full moon parties over there on Copangan and uh in a in the late 90s they started getting a
little bit too commercialized. So we stopped doing that and one night on full moon night we said you
know what instead of getting a boat going over going over to Hadrin beach for the full moon party
let’s get a boat let’s get 25 friends together a sound system some lasers and smoke machines and
go find a deserted island and have a private full moon party with just all of us and that’s
what we did. Fast forward to the sun coming up and us staggering back onto the boat that we had.
Driving it, big tie schooner driving it with like uh 25 of us on it, all ghouly eyed by now and
driving through the Gulf of Thailand. That was a long time ago, but uh that was a great night.
I look forward to what everyone else has to say here, Patty. Cheers, everyone. Okay, thank you for
watching the goat list of Thailand. Please let me know in the comments the answers to some of the
questions below. I would love to hear. And thanks again to all of the content creators who helped
make this video a little bit more fun and to share their experiences and hopefully to reignite
some amazing memories of Thailand to you. [Music]
I thought it would be fun to ask some friends (and you guys at home) what the GREATEST things about Thailand 🇹🇭

Absolutely wonderful Paddy and starring all those great YouTubers that share their love of the country, can't wait to get there again
I'd love to see more like this – especially for the established thailand travelers to help us noobies with their favorite day trips or off the beaten path experiences, or maybe things you forgot to pack, or ways to get more bang for your buck. So many potential topics that would be both fun and informative if the vloggers tell their funny or embarrassing or favorite stories.
Paddy, you are a fricken legend coming up with such a unique video. That was an EPIC WATCH! Your creativity is on fire 🔥 at the moment. Between your vids with Gary & then this masterpiece im in awe of your youtube mastery.
This was one of the most enjoyable watches ive had on youtube and goes straight into my top 10 entertainment vids of all time. Youre the GOAT mate, you are!!
Bang Saphan Why not bar. Lovely beach, good food next door, and very chill. Off the beaten track but stull on the rail line between Hua Hin and Chumpon. Used to be on Lonely planets guide book but Covid killed a lot of the smaller resorts. Help them come back. You'll need a scooter to get around on your own but there are bike taxis
80% Chemicel 20% Bread Meat
No 1 Unhealthy Item after Coca Cola in 7 Eleven Thailand
Thank you. I'm planning a trip to Thailand next year and will rewatch and take notes! ❤
Very good ! Dee Maak ! I watch many of these G.O.A.T. youtubers and I miss them when I don't see a new video !
Great to see Mark Wiens in this video.
Great collaboration Paddy, the lasting memories are not the destination but getting there. We took the back road to Pai from Chiang Mai on motorbikes around 2001 via Samoeng > Wat Chan > Pai. About an 8 hour journey on dry dirt mountain roads, tree bound bridges, limited fuel stops, beautiful scenery, random hill tribes…I’ll never forget it.
Pad kra pao for me. My wife is Thai and an excellent cook. It's one of those dishes that for me it can be any meal of the day.
Gotta love the G.O.A.T. list. Thanks to Paddy et al. dcb
Karls food recommended, kang hung lay is so good that 90% of greatest Thai vloggers of all time have never even heard of it 😂
This was such a fantastic video!!!!! Thank you 🤩
This was absolutely epic! What a great video. Holy you nailed this.
Well done. One of my fave you ever made.
great idea this video in way you did Paddy. thanks to all ❤
Awesome video champion 🏆
A bit overuse of goat concept on this one
I enjoyed this video a lot. I used to love เกาะหมาก Koh Maak. (Though l wish some of the people would learn how to pronounce the names of places and foods a little better…😊)
I don't think Pattaya is overated. Everyone knows it's a dump.
WOOHOO, Paddy!!!
Ya got me with the story of the Thai police hitchhiking with you.
More Love to the Thai Police💛👏👍
5 weeks ill be there! getting married at Kamala Beach, after 28 years i thought it was time to marry her. Awesome Video Paddy!
Great Topic Paddy !!! Great Debate to Have over the Dining Table Consuming all the Thai Dishes , Drinking all of Thai’s Beers & Cocktails & Travel to All the Islands in Thailand 🇹🇭….. Great Video Mate 🍺❤️🩹🇹🇭🥘
I love Pad Kaplaw
CHAMPION PADDY D 🥇👏👏👌😄 AWESOME VIDEO❤️🙏
19:59 ok, that wins. That is a great story.
Thai women snd western men.. ..???
Hi. Nice video, as always. I have been only to Bangkok and Koh Samet. And I can attest that Samet is an amazing place and will always be my goat but I will soon add Koh Kood to my list. I really cant say that I want to explore more of Bangkok though… It was too noisy, too touristy. Maybe if you know off-the-bitten-path places than it is a better place, but I had only 3 days and it was more than enough to have me saturated with it. North of Thai is also on the list!!!
