長野諏訪旅！冬から春へ湖畔の神秘と君の名はの聖地を巡る｜諏訪湖｜諏訪大社｜立石公園
Hello everyone! I’m Naru! Today I visited the “Suwa region” in Nagano Prefecture, surrounded by a mystical lake and magnificent mountains! Nagano Prefecture is divided into four areas:
“Hokushin,” “Toshin,” “Chushin,” and “Nanshin.” These are the four main regions! Each area has its highlights: Hokushin has the thousand-year-old Zenkoji Temple, Toshin has the summer resort Karuizawa, Chushin has the mountain resort Kamikochi, and Nanshin has Takato Castle Ruins Park. These are the representative tourist spots of Nagano! The Suwa region we’re visiting today is located in Nanshin, relatively close to popular tourist spots like Matsumoto Castle and Narai-juku. The Suwa region consists of Okaya City, Suwa City, Shimosuwa Town, Chino City, and other areas! It’s a nature-rich area centered around Lake Suwa, the largest lake in the prefecture at an elevation of 759m! Suwa Grand Shrine, representative of this area, is nationally known for its majestic Onbashira Festival held once every seven years! Suwa Grand Shrine is divided into Upper and Lower Shrines across Lake Suwa, and each is further divided into “Honmiya,” “Maemiya,” “Akimiya,” and “Harumiya” creating a unique structure of two shrines with four buildings where the deities reside! Access to Suwa: By public transportation: From Shinjuku: About 2 hours and 30 minutes From Nagoya: About 2 hours and 15 minutes (with transfers) By car: It’s convenient to use Suwa IC or Okaya IC ♪ I can see Akimiya of Suwa Grand Shrine now! What is this place? Suwa Grand Shrine has four shrine buildings around Lake Suwa and all of them together are called Suwa Grand Shrine Is this the Lower Shrine? We’re going to “Akimiya of the Lower Shrine” The Lower Shrine has two buildings: “Harumiya” and “Akimiya” known for the deity moving between them From February 1st, the deity is at “Harumiya” From August 1st, the deity is at “Akimiya” So the deity isn’t here now? It’s March now, so the deity isn’t at Akimiya But let’s visit Akimiya anyway! Suwa Grand Shrine is one of Japan’s oldest shrines The main deity, Takeminakata-no-kami, appears in the ancient Japanese myth “Kuniyuzuri” (Land Transfer) After losing a test of strength, he fled to Suwa and became the deity governing this land, which is said to be the origin of Suwa Grand Shrine The shimenawa (sacred rope) looks cool!! It’s so thick! Really thick! And these komainu (guardian dogs) are also huge! Suwa Grand Shrine is unique because it doesn’t have a “main hall” where deities typically reside What? How does that work? Nature itself is considered the sacred object!! Lower Shrine: A sacred tree is the object of worship Upper Shrine: Mount Moriya is the object of worship So we need to visit there too Yes! We should go to Mount Moriya next time I heard Maemiya does have a main hall though Oh, really? That’s what I heard! The wooden pillars standing there are called onbashira! The Onbashira Festival, held every 7 years, involves replacing the four pillars in the shrine Those are the four pillars of Akimiya The first pillar is the largest They get gradually smaller And if you look at the back of the onbashira on the other side The onbashira trees are cut from the mountain and transported here You can still see marks from that process! Let’s take a look at that too!! Now let’s go to “Harumiya”! We’ll walk along the Nakasendo road!! But before that, there’s a famous Japanese confectionery shop, so let’s stop by ♪ They’re famous for their salt yokan (sweet bean jelly)! I bought the salt yokan! I was planning to buy the small portions that go on sale at 11am but after tasting it it was so delicious!! I ended up buying a whole bar! LOL The saltiness and sweetness of the bean paste match perfectly It’s sweet and salty and so delicious!! It’s not too sweet, which I really like I might bring it as hiking food for my next mountain trip!! This spot is the junction of the Koshu Kaido and Nakasendo roads!! Wow!! The way to Suwa Grand Shrine is along Koshu Kaido and the road to Harumiya we’re going to now
is on the Nakasendo! Amazing! That’s the famous Nakasendo! I didn’t know it came through here! It’s connected here too! And what’s unique about the Nakasendo is that Shimosuwa Town is the only post town along it that has hot springs! Oh, so that’s why! Yes, that’s why!! Did people use them back then too? That’s why many travelers used to rest here And that’s why there are still many buildings that preserve the character of the old post town! It’s about a 15-minute walk from Akimiya to Harumiya There really are hot springs everywhere! It’s just the right temperature! Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect! It feels so good!! You always dip your hands in every hot spring you find! Maybe my hands will get super smooth? I don’t think they’ll change… They won’t! LOL Is this what they mentioned earlier? This is the temple they told us about! Impressive There are quite a few steps! Shall we go? LOL Let’s do it ⏰ 10 minutes earlier We heard about the local area at Fushimiya residence in Shimosuwa Town! You can still see green moss there Isn’t there any snow? Snow? There is snow, but the green is beautiful! The cedar avenue is very beautiful When you enter through the temple gate, there’s a large pine tree Gardeners from Kyoto came and did yukitsuri (snow protection ropes) like in Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa You’ll see beautiful yukitsuri there So, we decided to check it out!! The moss is beautiful! In the Suwa region, every shrine shrine? How should I say it? Anyway, even the smallest shrines have four onbashira pillars! Four pillars surrounding each shrine That’s quite unique! Just a fun fact! Awesome!! A large pine tree with yukitsuri (snow protection ropes)!! Cute tanuki (raccoon dog) statues!! We can see Lake Suwa! Because we’re at a high point We’ve come to a high place! Can you see Mt. Fuji a little bit in the distance? I can’t really tell Maybe it’s hidden The weather is so nice, everything looks beautiful! The townscape is beautiful! The mountains look amazing too Shall we continue to Harumiya? Yes! Is it smaller than before (Akimiya)? It feels more compact than the previous one This is called the “Musubino Sugi” (Binding Cedar) Look, it splits into different trunks halfway up But the roots are all one! That’s why it’s called the “Binding Cedar”! Not just for romance, it’s said to bind various kinds of connections Amazing Is this what that person mentioned earlier? Yes, they said they do divination here On the night of January 14th to early morning of the 15th, a ritual is held where they fill bamboo and reed tubes with porridge and predict harvests and social conditions from the quantity and appearance They stay up all night? That’s tough!! The nearby “Manji no Sekibutsu” (stone Buddha) is also recommended!! A long-established business that continues from “Kosui Sakana-ten Hayashiya” founded in 1893 In 2004, the fifth generation owner opened “Unagi Hayashiya,” an eel specialty restaurant, on adjacent land! Not only is their fluffy grilled eel excellent, but their carp and smelt dishes using Lake Suwa’s bounty are also superb! It’s sparkling!! Let’s eat! It’s super fluffy Wow! Wow! The sauce has soaked into the rice too! Looks delicious!! Yeah!! Mmm! Is it good? It’s so delicious!! It’s so fluffy! Crispy on the outside, but super fluffy inside! And the sauce isn’t too sweet Delicious!! This is Suwa’s eel!! I don’t think it’s caught in Lake Suwa though… LOL That doesn’t matter! The fat is so sweet Yeah It’s really delicious! The best eel I’ve ever eaten!! It’s not heavy The eel I’ve had before was often heavy with fat Delicious! I can’t stop eating!! It’s really delicious! Want to try a different flavor? Yes, let’s change it up! Now I’ll try it with sansho pepper!! Mmm!! How is it? How is it… let me try one more bite I’m not sure, let me taste it again… LOL It feels refreshing somehow! LOL Can I try one more time? I’m still not sure. Come on, you must know by now!! It seems lighter! LOL I’m not quite sure It’s just so delicious It was already delicious to begin with I can just keep eating! It feels a bit more refreshing now There’s also extra sauce! This is so good! Usually when I eat eel it gets greasy and feels heavy by the end With this, I can eat it all!! I could even eat more slices!! I love the wasabi topping! You’re really into wasabi! The eel was delicious!! It might really be the best I’ve ever had It’s the best for me too! Is eel famous in Suwa? Huh? Don’t you know? Do you know? What’s that about? In the Edo period, eels were caught in Lake Suwa Oh, really! That’s how it became popular here! Now with dams and such, they’re not caught here anymore… But the tradition remains? Yes, yes! The tradition continues As expected from you Shall we get dessert now? “Fuji Ice,” established in 1935, got its name from being the first to sell ice cream in Nagano Prefecture Their signature product “Jimanyaki” is a delicious Japanese confection with a golden-brown exterior Filled with Hokkaido Tokachi tsubuan (chunky red bean paste) cooked over 8 hours, homemade original custard, or bean paste with cheese – you can enjoy all three varieties Let’s eat!! Delicious!! It’s full of cream!! Crispy outside, fluffy inside, and delicious It’s quite substantial!! And it’s only 100 yen – that’s cheap! The red bean one is 100 yen too ♪ We’ve arrived at Lake Suwa!! Lake Suwa is the largest lake in Nagano Prefecture I know that, of course I know Right!! Of course you know! What do you mean by “of course”? I thought it was common knowledge… What was it again? I heard the Omiwatari didn’t happen this year either Maybe there wasn’t much snow? Or was it not cold enough? There was snow, but maybe it wasn’t cold enough Omiwatari: A phenomenon where the lake completely freezes and part of it rises to form lines
It’s said to be the path the male deity of the Upper Shrine takes to visit the female deity of the Lower Shrine The last Omiwatari was in “2018” Hey, what’s that floating in the lake? It’s a rock It might be a turtle! No, it’s a rock! Let’s go see! Doesn’t it look like a seal? No, it doesn’t I think it’s a seal though It is a rock! Maybe it’s wood! It’s a rock! No way!! It’s totally a rock!! That’s not interesting at all… It was definitely a rock! LOL That’s not interesting at all… Classic case of things looking like something else from a distance “Kurasuwa,” located on the shores of Lake Suwa, is an attractive complex facility themed around “food” It has a restaurant and bakery using local ingredients, and a well-stocked souvenir shop with Suwa specialties From the rooftop, you can see a panoramic view of Lake Suwa and enjoy meals and shopping with spectacular scenery There are super cute tenugui (hand towels) here!! Fox and corn Foxes say “kon!” which sounds like “corn” They’re cute~ I want one~! There’s also a ptarmigan Ptarmigan and bell pepper! Are they all puns? Maybe they are puns? Anyway, they’re animals and vegetables! Vegetables and flowers They’re so cute! I want one! Don’t you think fox and corn is good? Fox and corn is great!! This pink one has a mouse disguising itself as a turnip!! Oh! So that’s what it is? Fox + corn
Mouse + turnip We’ve arrived at Tateishi Park! You can see Lake Suwa so beautifully from here!! This is a sacred location from “Your Name.” The mountains look beautiful too Indeed! You can see the town clearly! The water surface is sparkling reflecting the sunlight It’s incredibly beautiful! Which scene from “Your Name” is this location? 林屋さんのうなぎは本当に美味しそうですね!。一生に一度は食べに行ってみたいです😋😋😋。君の名は。のモデルになった諏訪湖は、周囲16kmもあり、広大で本当に綺麗ですね😉👍。宮水三葉さんが暮らしていた田舎町のモデルが岐阜県古川町の為、岐阜県にも聖地が沢山あります!。飛騨古川駅、飛騨市図書館、日枝神社、気多若宮神社、味処古川（五平餅）、飛騨市宮川町バス停等々。なるまさトラベルさんでもいつか取り上げてください!🙇🙏。

今回は諏訪に行かれたんですね。
上諏訪は父親が産まれた地であり、下諏訪、上諏訪に今も親戚が暮らしていますので、諏訪大社の上社、下社共にお参りに訪れた事も7年に1度催される御柱祭を見た事もあります。
諏訪湖と言えば、御神渡りが有名ですが、温暖化が影響しているのか最近は滅多に見られませんね。
それと夏のお盆の時期に開催される花火大会🎇は素晴らしく、ナイアガラは圧巻ですよ。
昔は諏訪のお土産と言えば、諏訪湖豆でしたが、今はどうなのかなぁ??🤔💭

諏訪大社は昨年参拝してきましたよ。かなり歩きました。
歴史の重みを感じさせる厳かな佇まいに身が引き締まる思いがしますよね。
武田信玄が厚く崇拝し戦勝祈願に何度も訪れたことでも有名です。
塩洋館美味しそう。
試食してまるごと1本買っちゃうところがなるさんらしくていいね。
今後の登山の行動食が楽しみですね。🥰
手を温泉につけてツルツルになるかななんて・・・
なるさんの手は綺麗なのにこれ以上ツルツルになってどうするの～！って思ってしまった。🤭
うなぎ本当に美味しそうに食べてるなあ。

諏訪湖は車山高原に行く途中でよく寄り道してました。
昔は湖に氷が張り穴を空けてワカサギ釣りをしてましたが、最近は氷も張らなくなり昔ばなしになってしまいました。
うなぎ美味しいそうでしたね。
12回も美味しい〜と言いましたからさぞかし美味しいかったんでしょうね😋
その後、花粉症との戦いはどうですか？
私も日々戦ってます！

諏訪大社下社の秋宮、春宮、慈雲寺も行ってきました。
慈雲寺の信玄の矢除石がとても印象的でした。
戦勝祈願で訪れた武田信玄に対して上人が石に登りワシを射てみよというので、至近距離から矢を放ったところ、全て石に跳ね返されて矢は上人に１本も当たらなかったそうです。
不思議に思ってどういうことか尋ねた信玄に対してこれは矢除けの霊力のある石だと言ってお札を授け信玄は勇躍戦場に赴いたということです。 そんな話を知ることができてとても参考になりました。なるさんのお蔭です。
塩羊羹も買いましたよ。美味しい！
