35🇮🇳 インドにこんなものがあるなんて信じられない!😮(ロナー隕石クレーター)
There it is, guys — Lonar Crater.
[Music] [Music]
Good morning. Good morning. Good morning.
Good morning. Good morning, Shanti.
Good morning, Mowgli.
Good morning, Vishu.
Good morning.
Good morning. Good morning, Shiva. Wow. Got some breakfast cooking this morning
— beautiful. Oh, that looks really nice. I feel guest. It looks like a heart.
Oh,
that’s nice. Wee!
Okay, thank you. Bye-bye. Thank you!
Enjoy your day off. Bye!
See
you guys. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye.
Ah, there we go — alone again.
You and me on the road again.
Good morning, world. Welcome back to the channel!
It’s ride number 35 on our motorcycle
adventure here in India, and we’re here in the city of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
You’re getting better and better. We’ve spent the last few days staying with Omar
and his mother here on the outskirts of the city, and we really felt at home for the past
two days.
I really didn’t want to leave. Yeah, the guys have been treating us
so well, and they’ve been showing us the amazing sights they have around here
— including a place called the Mini Taj Mahal.
This is called Bibi Ka Maqbara.
Bibi
Ka Maqbara.
And it was built in the 1660s, just after the Taj Mahal was built.
We visited the UNESCO World Heritage site — the spectacular Ellora Caves complex.
Wow.
It looks way bigger from the inside.
It’s huge. And Omar’s mom was actually getting us a gift.
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music] She bought us some traditional outfits so we
could wear them yesterday, which was really nice.
I really felt like a prince — the outfit
was so shiny and nice. It was so beautiful. We just spent the day with the family, eating
good food, and we went out for ice cream. Whoa, that one might be a
bit too much on the card. Thank you so much, guys, for your amazing
hospitality.
It’s just always so amazing to make new friends in different countries.
I really
hope that you can visit us one day in England. Yeah, thanks so much, guys, for everything
you did for us — for everything you showed us.
We had such an amazing weekend.
But now it is time for us to move on, hit the road, and see some more
beautiful things in Maharashtra. So let me show you guys where we’re heading
today.
So, we are here in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, and today we will be riding to
the spectacular Lonar Meteor Crater. Yes — we’re going from an ancient wonder to a
natural wonder today, and I’m really excited for this one.
[Music] We’ve got a parade of people here on the right
— look at this! Everybody dressed in orange, heading — I assume — to a temple.
Yeah, so
cool. And this is not the first parade we’ve seen this morning.
We already saw probably two or
three other ones, because it’s actually a public holiday today.
And yeah, you can really
see that people are out and about — it’s a day of festivities on the streets of India.
But it’s definitely a hot ride this morning, because we started a little bit later, so
the few cold hours in the morning we have missed.
And at 8 or 9 a.m., it was already 30°.
Oh, we’ve got some people selling grapes on the side of the road here — that’s going to be a
nice refreshing treat.
Oh, and they’ve got some dried fruit as well.
I want some fresh, juicy
grapes.
Yeah.
Well, they’re going to be the juiciest possible, because look behind you.
Oh wow — vineyards as far as the eye can see.
That’s cool.
Yeah, this region
is famous for growing grapes and wine. Kya ka ka — he doesn’t understand.
I’m not pronouncing it well. “From?
Dia.
Riding all India?”
”Yes.
Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra — on bike.”
”Yes. Where do you
live?”
”Parasa, India.”
”Okay, okay. Very nice.” 500 g.
[Music]
Kilo?
Uh, this one.
Yeah — 500 g?
”Yes.”
”Yes, sir. How much?”
”500 g — 30 rupees.”
”30 rupees? Okay.”
“Is the grapes just here?”
”Yes.”
”Easy. Lovely.” Look at the scale that he has here.
He knows
how much 500 g is because he has a 500 g weight here — look at that.
Wow, so he knows! I
mean, that’s like super old-school.
Look at that — he can see when the point here comes
to the middle like that, that he’s got 500 g. There you go.
”100.”
”No, it’s a tip for you —
for you. He can keep the change. Tell him it’s for him.”
”Danivad, Danivad.”
”What country?”
”My
country — England.”
”England?”
”Yes, yes, yes. Nice to meet you guys!”
”Bye-bye!”
Nice — got some fresh grapes.
Yes!
Oh my god — looks good.
No, yeah, I want to
eat them already.
Let’s find like a café somewhere — we’ll have a coffee, we’ll have some
grapes.
Okay, put them in your front bag.
Okay. Yeah, perfect.
Wow — and he only wanted 30 rupees
for half a kilo. That’s insane.
Taa. Tada.
Yeah — and guys, tata is a new word we learned.
But I tried majha kai — like “how are you” in Marathi — and uh… didn’t understand at all.
So
I don’t know. Don’t know what I did wrong there.
Anyway — try again next time.
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music] That was close!
One of the cars was
like basically running at me.
Yeah, it was running at me and I could like escape, but
you were right behind me.
Yeah, I slid the back wheel a little bit, but I didn’t hit him.
Oh, where’s he going?
Oh, thanks for that.
Thanks — as always — overtaking and then
immediately turning off.
Literally just came around us a second ago and then turned.
Oh my
goodness — you’ve got to keep calm.
Got to keep calm on the roads.
[Music] I want all of this in one
go — I’m so thirsty.
Yeah, we had such a good breakfast from Enka’s mother
that we don’t… I don’t even need to eat.
No, I’m just going to have Sprite, some water.
We’ve
got a coffee coming — it’s just a liquid lunch. It’s starting to get very, very hot.
I’m sweating
while sitting down.
Oh yeah, look — we’re already up to 34 degrees this morning,
with the highs today 37.
It’s not a joke. We’re definitely going to try to find a
hotel with air conditioning tonight.
Oh, here we go — thank you, Danivad!
Thank you.
Some nice, sweet Indian coffee.
Yeah man — the way that they make it here is crazy.
It’s like
very milky, very sweet, and very delicious. Mmm.
Oh my god — it’s like a coffee
chocolate bar in a drink.
Wow, that is so sweet.
Can I have this?
Wow.
Mmm.
They’re nice, eh?
That’s the sweetest grape I’ve ever tasted.
They’re so mild and sweet
and not sour at all.
Sometimes you have them and they’re quite sour.
Mmm.
[Music] Some bloody good grapes!
Come on, guys —
let’s go.
I’m sweating my arse off.
This is a pretty busy road, to be honest.
It’s a very busy road and very hard to overtake.
There is actually an expressway
which is going pretty much in the same direction — like a big motorway —
but we
decided not to take it.
And apparently, a lot of the buses and trucks also decided not
to take it.
They must have a valid reason today. Yeah, ’cause it’s a toll road.
Anyway, it’s really, really boiling hot now on the bike,
but luckily we have just another
30 minutes to go.
Yeah, it’s nearly midday now, so we’re pretty much at peak temperature.
The
wind is so hot now — it feels like a hairdryer. We’ve actually found a government tourism
accommodation — I think it’s called MTDC —
which is like the Maharashtra
Tourism Department.
And they have relatively cheap accommodation with AC rooms.
So, we’re going to be heading to the accommodation first, have a bit of a chill out,
wait for the
heat of the day to pass,
and then this afternoon, we’re going to be heading to the crater.
Yes!
I’m so super excited to see it, because there was one time the chance of us
seeing a meteorite crater in Peru,
but it was really far in the desert, so it was super,
super difficult to reach there.
Yeah.
And this one’s like right next to the town of Lonar.
And by
the pictures, it looks like a spectacular place. Oh look — there’s a sign!
World-famous
Lonar Crater — 25 Ks!
Yes!
Come on!
25 Ks to go.
[Music] Yes, we have reached the town of Lonar.
And this town is like right on the edge of the crater.
Don’t know if we can see it
from here… Ah, it’s just behind here.
But look — we have some pigs!
Hello!
Cute.
I’m melting away.
My brain is just melting away.
It’s okay. We can jump
into the AC in a minute, ‘cause we’re just about to arrive.
Yay — MTDC Resort, Lonar.
Wow, it’s like a whole big complex here.
Hello, namaste!
Where should we park?
Over there? Okay,
thank you.
Over here — he said that side?
Yeah, okay. Here’s a nice shaded place.
Good
— we made it. Happy and alive. Yay! Look — our beautiful room.
I love you,
AC. I love you.
Oh, I will just spend the next hours here in front of the AC.
But I’m actually super impressed with this accommodation here — the Government
Tourism Department luxury AC room, which costs only £20, by the way. Pretty good
price.
And look how big it is! A massive bed as well. And then the bathroom…
The bathroom looks really good too, so I’m happy with that.
Oh, it’s
like a hand dryer — working! Cool. So, we’re just going to chill out
here for a bit, and then we’re going to go see this amazing natural wonder.
Okay, guys — we are now in a bit of a rush, because we were just chilling
and then I thought,
”Hmm, maybe I go ask the guys what time the crater
actually closes — like, the entry gate.”
And then he said it closes at 5:00.
And it’s 4:20.
So I think we chilled for a little bit too long, but I’m determined to go and see it.
So, let’s go!
We’ll be back later.
Thank you! Yeah, we were really just relaxing and sort of
thinking,
”Oh, you know, the sunset is at 6:40, so we have plenty of time.”
It turned out
that we don’t have so much time left anymore. Well, you would have thought they would close
the place at sunset, hey?
But apparently, they kick you out at 5:00 — just before sunset.
Luckily, the gate to go into the crater is only a kilometre ahead.
Yeah, apparently the gate is just
here — Lonar Lake Gate.
There it is!
Looks like it’s still open and accepting guests.
[Music]
[Music] Nice to meet you, guys!
Nice
to meet you.
Nice to meet you. There it is, guys — Lonar Crater.
So, this is the Lonar Meteor Crater, and it was formed between 50,000 and 500,000
years ago, when a meteor traveling at 90,000 km an hour crashed into the Earth — right here
behind me.
And this meteor crater is very rare. It is one of only four hypervelocity
impact craters in basaltic rock worldwide. The circumference of the crater on the
rim is 8 km, and it’s 5 km across down at the lake.
And the lake is also very,
very special — it is both alkaline and saline in different areas of the lake.
The pH level of the lake varies so much that it actually supports two different ecosystems.
The lake is mentioned in various ancient Hindu texts, and the locals believe that
it was formed when the Hindu god Vishnu defeated the demon Lonasura.
And a study from 2019 found that minerals in the lake bed were very
similar to the minerals that were taken back from the moon by the Apollo program.
So all in all, a very, very special place — and a very unique place on this Earth.
And that’s all my info.
I think it’s raining.
Hello, nice to meet you!
Hello,
nice to meet you.
Hello.
Hi!
Hi! And one really cool thing — it doesn’t
close at 5:00 in the end.
We asked the guys at the entrance and they said it closes
at 6:00.
Yes — so we have plenty of time. So, this is the entrance to the crater.
And look
at this — got a beautiful stepwell and an ancient temple complex on the side of the crater rim.
Maybe you can all go in and say, “Welcome to India!”
3… 2… 1…
Welcome to
India!
I love it — thank you, guys. Lots of beautiful ladies just came and I don’t
know what they’re doing, but they’re going down to the stepwell here.
It looks so nice.
[Music] “Festival — Gauri — we worship Parvati and Shiva
here. So, it’s festival in our religion.”
I love it!
”Oh, thank you!”
”Wow — it’s henna. Did
you do this today?”
”Yesterday.”
”Yesterday? Because of the festival?”
”Yes.”
”Oh, I love
it! Wow! Does it take very long or—”
”No, no, no. It doesn’t.”
”Okay. So you’re very,
like, trained?”
”If you’re trained — yeah, yeah. It doesn’t take long.”
”It’s beautiful as
well. You can see it in almost all the hands.” “So, you’re from here?”
”No, no — we are
actually tourists. Even we are roaming around.”
”Okay, okay, okay. But these
are locals?”
”Yeah, these are locals.” “And what do they do with them after?
You immerse them in the water?”
”Oh, okay — it’s immersed in the water?”
”Immersed
in the water.”
”Immersed in this water?”
”No, no — so they go around here, then they go
down and put it in the lake.”
”Yes.”
”Oh wow — a holy one!”
”This is a holy pond.”
”Wow!”
“We call it parikrama — we call it parikrama. Rec water from natural sources.”
”No— nobody
found it.”
”Where is this water from? Where does it come from?”
”It is from galaxy.”
”This
water comes from—”
”Hey, maybe, maybe it’s from the galaxy — we don’t know!”
”Amazing.”
“24 hours and 365 days — all the time it has water, even if it’s dry?”
”Yes —
also, it’s continued. Always water.”
”Wow.” Okay, so from what I’ve learned — all of these
women with these offerings have circled around this pond here, and now they’re all going to
go down to the lake to put what they have in the lake, I think.
[Music] “Okay — with me? With me?”
”Can you take a
picture of me and the ladies?”
”Okay. Okay. 3, 2, 1, go!”
”3, 2, 1, go!”
Nice
— very nice.
3, 2, 1, go.
Nice. Oh my god.
Okay, that’s quite dangerous.
Should
I catch that on camera?
Oh my god, that’s a bit scary.
That was really loud.
Okay, maybe
we have to go down a little bit.
Oh my god. Even the security was scared.
It was just
there, I think — just here, just here.
Oh my lord. Wow.
Okay, don’t touch anything metal.
Oh my god — the rain’s starting quite heavily now.
Okay, let’s just go hide.
Mmm. I love the
smell of the ground after a fresh rain.
It’s very refreshing.
Yes, it’s very nice.
The smell
is… I… I love the smell.
First rain — I love it. Thank you. Thank you.
Welcome to India — tourist place that is historic and devotional.
Devotional places.
Many
years ago, people came here and the dangila bathed in this water.
Okay — holy water.
Holy water here.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Wow. “From?”
”England.”
”England?”
”Yes.”
”My
wife — from Germany.”
”Germany?”
”Yeah, she’s from Germany.”
”England, Germany?”
”Yes, yes.
We live there.”
”Where are we — Australia?”
”In Australia.”
”Australia?”
”Yes.”
”Wow, what a
coincidence!”
”Yeah — Germany, England meet Australia!”
”And you — you’re from here?”
”Ah yes,
I’m Indian. My place is 40 km.”
”40 km!”
”You are a vlogger?”
”Yes, yes, yes!”
”Yeah, yeah.”
”What’s
your channel name?”
”It’s Lavi and Ollie. Motorcycle vlogger.”
”Nice move!”
”Thank you.”
“I’m singing in the rain, just singing in the rain…
What a glorious feeling, I’m happy again!”
I think many, many people — they’re just coming up now, probably.
Oh my god.
Oh wow.
I wanted to
go down, but… probably not a good idea anymore. You’re very wet.
Welcome to India. There’s still a little bit of thunder going on,
but it’s nice — it’s stopped raining now.
We can just relax here at the top of the steps and
enjoy the view of the beautiful Lonar Crater. One, two, three, go!
It was a long
walk, wasn’t it?
Oh, exhausting.
Yep. So, there we go, guys — another beautiful day in
Maharashtra comes to an end in this spectacular location.
I didn’t even expect there to be
a temple here.
We just came for the crater, and we get like a two-for-one — an amazing temple!
Yes — and all the people here are just so nicely dressed.
Oh man, I love the dress so much.
I
could look at them the whole day.
Yeah, it’s so cool that we arrived here just
when they started this amazing ritual. Bye, guys — it’s magical.
So, I’m really excited for tomorrow and to see what tomorrow will bring.
But
for today, we’ll just enjoy the place a little bit more, and then we’ll head back to the hotel.
And that’s it from us today.
