Originally a private estate of the Tokugawa family in the 17th century, this serene space has been transformed into a public park, offering a peaceful escape where nature and history blend harmoniously.

Asakusa Station is the closest stop to many of the area’s major attractions. Asakusa is one of Japan’s must-visit tourist destinations, known for the famous Sensoji Temple and the historic Nakamise-dori shopping street, which draws many visitors each day.

Nakamise is the most famous shopping street in Asakusa. Located along the main approach to Sensoji Temple, this street stretches for about 250 meters and is lined on both sides with shops selling traditional souvenirs, snacks, and sweets.

This street is actually located on temple grounds, which is why it begins and ends with a temple gate: at the southern end stands the outer gate, Kaminarimon, and at the northern end is the inner gate, Hozomon. Between these two gates are a total of 89 shops—54 on the east side and 35 on the west. The name “Nakamise” is a traditional term used for shopping streets within the grounds of temples or shrines, so this is not the only “Nakamise” in Japan, but it is one of the oldest and most famous.
