I’m on the way to get a coffee to Nijo Market Then off to Hokkaido Shrine This trip begins in Hokkaido I landed in Hakodate and started heading north all the way to Asahikawa Still immersed in the beauty of Lake Toya from the last episode Now I’ve arrived in Sapporo I’ll be staying here for two nights The room is small but just right Like a resting spot for travelers Tanukikoji Shopping Street is just around the corner All kinds of shops each full of personality That’s when I started falling for Sapporo That feeling began right there Seeing this familiar grandpa statue in person for the first time Feels like he’s the guardian of the city Watching over the bustling crowd In this moment I truly feel I’ve really arrived in Sapporo Now heading to GARAKU for soup curry Already expecting to wait in line Thankfully it’s an online queue Finally got my number called Walking down the stairs Everyone here is waiting to be seated Finally living the dream of drinking Sapporo in Sapporo Fried vegetables soaked in rich soup It’s especially flavorful This is more than just a meal It’s a warm and comforting experience Wandering around after the meal The Sapporo TV Tower in the distance Shining like a glowing lighthouse Guiding me to Odori Park The night here feels slow and peaceful Then I head slowly back toward the hotel The hotel breakfast is simple But quite satisfying I always love Japanese-style breakfasts A paradise of pickled side dishes On the second day I go with soup curry Time to explore the city Heading out to get a coffee Then to Nijo Market After that Hokkaido Shrine Visiting a popular local coffee shop The wait for coffee Becomes part of the journey Usually I can choose Coffee beans But today there’s no choice available Going with the flow feels just fine Walking all the way down Tanukikoji Finally arriving at Nijo Market Spotting the Sapporo TV Tower in daylight The seafood selection here is overwhelming Feels like mostly tourists around Lacking that local everyday vibe So I don’t stay too long Getting ready to take the subway to Hokkaido Shrine But run into another shrine on the way Turns out to be Hokkaido Shrine Tongu Tongu means a temporary shrine This place is known for blessings in love and fertility Maybe this coincidence is a blessing of love Every encounter Every farewell Pushes me closer to where love lives Arriving at Maruyama Park near the shrine Stepping into the woods The wind howls through the trees I think it’s the sacred energy of the shrine Like the wind is showing me the way Turns out it’s a strong wind warning Hokkaido Shrine The largest and most iconic shrine in Hokkaido A wedding is happening here And families bring newborns to pray for blessings After visiting I stop by the Jingu Teahouse They serve Fukure Mochi Red bean mochi filling Pressed in a hot iron grill It comes out thin and crisp Perfect with a cup of matcha Back in the city Looking for a place to have a drink Walk into Moyuku a new mall opened in 2023 Famous for its talked-about aquarium You can even see cute penguins here But I still want to find a better spot for drinks Unexpectedly find a place on B2 floor My favorite corner in all of Sapporo this trip Order a beer with a three-item appetizer set This Marinated Herring Onions and olive oil bring out the flavor I can’t stop thinking about it The taste stays with me even after returning home I try to recreate it with scallops Do you have a flavor you can’t forget from your travels? Next up is Otaru Biei The crow at the shrine gate teaches me Happiness is always around. Milk Premium coffee beans
