Hama-rikyu Gardens🇯🇵Live from Japan
Well, hello. That was a false start. Don’t know what happened. Everything just shut down on me. So, greetings everybody. We’re now at Hamaru Garden, which is absolutely beautiful. It is very, very green here. It’s lovely. I’ve had a big walk around and I’m just going to now take you for a little bit of a walk over some of the bridges as I head back towards the the gate. But that bird we just saw, there’s a nice heron um just over here somewhere. Yeah, Lisa, sorry. Don’t know what happened. The minute I said hello, it just crashed. So, we’re here we are again. Cosmic Rose. Yeah, take two. How are you? Nice to see you. Wow. Been a while. Been a while. I’m in the Hamariku Garden, the old Shogun’s um resting place. So Tokyo Bay is just through here and there’s a little bit of action with boats going up and down of course and then but we’re right in the middle of the city. The monorail just goes through there. It’s actually really interesting. Ricky Kior Kior, nice to see you. Thanks for joining. This is just going to be short because I’m on my way back. The garden is quite a big stroll and I was looking for something interesting to share with you. Um, so the previous little one that we did, we had a fish jumping out of the water. That was quite exciting. Then we had a heron flying in. Uh, we’ll see if we can find something interesting here again. It’s pretty hot, so I’ve been taking my time as I walk around here. But it’s really, really beautiful. And I have a um, you can see the big buildings, the Conrad Hotel’s just through there as well. I have the map. Where are we? I think we’re sort of about about in the middle. The family garden of the Tokugawa Shogun. This is the family garden of Tokugawa Shogun, which functioned as an outlet fort for Edeto Castle that retains a tidal pond of seawater drawn from the bay, two duck hunting grounds. In 1654, the fourth Shogun’s younger brother, Chancellor of Kaufu, built his detached residence here. You get all the history. You get it all. But anyway, let’s go for a little bit of a walk. The trees are magnificent and some of them have these nice labels identifying them. This looks like it might be a plum tree. There we of course there we have a pine. It was very quiet. Nice respite in the middle of the city. So let’s keep walking here. I’ll just keep an eye on the pond and just see if Oh, there’s a bird. There’s quite a few beautiful white herand here. Oh yes. I’ll let me zoom because there’s one just Oh, where’s it gone now? They’re hiding. He’s gone. He’s gone. Got to be fast. It’s got to be fast. Yes, it’s great to see you, Rose. Awesome. I’m in Japan until August. Beautiful. Look at the, you know, it’s such a contrast having these brand new buildings. That’s That’s the Conrad there. Brand new buildings and this beautiful piece of history right here in the middle of it. It’s you can see why the shoguns would like to come and hang out here and relax. So they provide a little bit of seating around. Some of it’s in the shade, some of it’s out in the open. Look at that tree. The way it’s Now that’s a pine. Was it one tree or two? Look at the way the Yeah, the way it’s sort of growing. I guess it might be. It’s been divided sort of at birth probably. I’m going to walk you over. There’s some nice wooden bridges here. We’re going to go for a little bit of a wander. Yes, Rose takes us back to the periscope days, doesn’t it? But nothing much exciting happening here. It’s just I wanted to share this lovely sort of area with you. Then I’m going to go and get an iced coffee and then I’m So there’s the bridge. We’re going to walk over this lovely bridge. Nice to have a little bit of history everywhere. Um, yeah. So, I guess I mean a lot of the area is on reclaimed land. I’m guessing this was not reclaimed, but this is where they would have tied their um boats up, I guess. will have changed so much over the centuries. And you’ve been watching Zena. Oh, that’s one of the water taxis or the water boats. I’m thinking I might even try and do that tomorrow. That would be good. We haven’t been on a cruise while since we’ve been here. Zena Warrior Princess. Nice. had a walk around um at the fashion museum this morning or the fashion college. Uh that was really really cool. We saw some cool stuff, didn’t we, Lisa? And then I went into the shop and um yeah, that that was great. Nearly bought a bag and then I decided, oh, do I need another bag? Oh, truly. Yeah. Nice. Yeah, we haven’t forgotten the old I had lunch with Kim yesterday. Remember Kim and Bandit? I had Kim and um Simbad it was. And then she got Bandit. Yeah. All sorts of lovely stuff. Yeah. It’s quite inspiring, isn’t it? You look at all that. It’s really lovely. This is good. I think we’ll walk around the pond. How would that be? Because I see lots of bridges. That would give us a sort of like a a focus, a reason to be here. So, let’s walk over this beautiful wooden bridge here, uh, which probably has a name. If I look in my little Oh, some nice little tea houses over there. Senbashi. So there’s a flower field here which is will be gorgeous when all the cosmos blooms. Look at those buildings. K Nabul, nice to see you. Just having a wander around in the Hamariku garden before I um head off for a coffee. I need something to eat as well. What’s that? That is that a cafe. How you doing, Niboul? Fabulous. Nibul there in the south of France. Always showing us amazing stuff. Lots of carnivals, lots of costumes. Love Nibbles. So much good energy. Vibrant. Yeah, really, really lovely. Lot of birds around here. You can see them all flying around. Oh, there’s that white. There’s a white crane. He’s just What’s he doing? He’s just landed over there on the other side. Not a crane. Sorry. It’ll be a heron. Oops. Sorry. Steady up. Steady up. There he is. We’ll walk over and see if we can catch him. Let’s try and bring you in without giving it too much of a shock. Got to go from 15 down to one. 3 2.7. Almost there. Almost at number one. One. Wow. It’s got a good zoom on it, hasn’t it? One. You saw him. Cool. But you know, so much history here and so much future. What there’s a saying about Japan? Something like um living in the future but stuck in 1980. It’s a little bit like that. Little bit like that. Old chia the tea house and the exit to the Ultimon gate. Where is he? He’s sitting around here somewhere. Oh, I see him. He’s right there. I wonder how close we can actually get to him. Beautiful though, isn’t it? I didn’t bring my hat today. I bought an umbrella instead. Um, I can’t manage a gimbal and an umbrella I don’t think so. Um, anyway, we’ll just have a little walk, a little wander. Oh, it must have been beautiful here when the A is a blooming. They also have a cherry blossom area. Um, yeah, they’ve got some lovely lovely areas set aside for different different things. See the blowy jacket. They have the workmen here all wear these jackets. Um got like little little blowers in them that keep them cool and they work. Apparently they work. They’re really really gorgeous. That’s right. Cosmic Rose, especially in these mad times. Boy, are they mad. Yeah, you can hear those blowy jackets as they walk past. Yeah, he’s just sitting there. He’s waiting to do a catch a fish. Oh, there’s a nice wisteria house through there as well. So, if you’re just in needing of a little bit of peace and quiet before you go off to bed, this is probably a good one. Lisa, there’s a little hill. So, they’ve sort of recreated um the countryside. Hey Michelle, fantastic. Nice to see you. Just having a walk around in this beautiful Japanese garden. It is the Hama Riku Gardens. Hmer Palace where sea breeze blows as a reminder of the Edeto era. So we are is that that maybe let’s keep walking. A lovely wind down. Yeah. But I’m taking you all to hopefully we’re going to see Mount Fuji on Friday. So today’s Wednesday here and making a special trip up to Fujisan. Well to the the lakes. Um and we can get a really nice view there sometimes. Oh, he’s just flowing away now. Where’s he going? What’s he doing? He’s just gone on to the other bank on the other side where we were. Oh, there’s Tokyo Tower. Hi kids. It’s me. It’s me. Yeah. I’m hoping it’ll be exciting. Um last year we drove up there, went by car and it was raining and cloudy and we didn’t see anything. Um I have been up in beautiful sunshine and saw things that was lovely. So, I’m hoping we might just get a little bit of a glimpse um tomorrow. Not tomorrow. Sorry. It’ll be um Friday. I sort of almost thought I’d lost a day this week. That’s the thing about when you’re away from home and you’re like this, it’s hard to keep up with everything. Yes, I have met Nice Guy a couple of times. We were talking about him yesterday. So, yep, I was talking We were talking Kim and I were talking about him yesterday and yeah, I think I’ve met most of the well, not most of them, maybe quite a few of the Japanese live streamers back in the Periscope day. We used to qu I’m hoping to meet up with in hoping to meet up with when I’m in Osaka. I’m going to the expo. Wow, look at this gorgeous. That’s old. That’s old. Which one? I think it’s which one is it? Not sure which one it is, but we can actually go inside. It’s got an entrance and an exit. Look at the fetch. Amazing. But we’ve come a long way since Periscope, haven’t we? And most of us are still around, which is really really great. So, yes. Yes. So, hopefully hopefully can see Queso. Oh, it smells beautiful in here. All this lovely wood. Oh, fans blowing. Beautiful. Please do not sit here. And you never know, Dave might turn up as well, so that’ll be really cool. What are we looking at here? This building erected during the reign of the 11th Shogun was originally called waiting room or thatched residence. The showun having roasted potatoes and chestnuts in the large half created on the earthn floor. They’ve reconstructed it. It is. For a better look, I’ll show the water’s edge, which is normally off limits to visitors, especially. Oh, Twitch. I’d forgotten about Twitch, actually. We were talking about it yesterday. We couldn’t remember the name of it. Took us ages. It looks pretty normal at first sight, right? It looks pretty normal at first sight. Okay, now quiz for you guys. Are you guys ready? Are you ready? Which of the following can be found in the garden’s title pod? Goldfish, seabbream, or cat? A goldfish. B. carp. What’s the answer? Got your answers. It could be either of any of those. Answer is B. Ah, yeah. I thought it might be seen. And why did I think that? Because this joins into the Tokyo Bay. Oh, look at the crane. Origami. Nice. Well, Twitch. Yeah, I just don’t have time for a lot of stuff. So, I am here on YouTube and Instagram and Exit Instagram. Occasionally, I’ll remember to do something on Tik Tok. That’s about it for me. And not sure what Blaine’s doing. He’s been on Blaine’s been mostly on Instagram lately. I’m not sure he’s still still doing his Twitch thing or not. Hello, Colleen. Awesome. So nice to see you. Whoa. Are you early morning? I think. Don’t tell me you’re in the middle of the night. We’re going to walk under the wisteria here, which is lovely. Follow this wooden path. wooden bridge. I’ll take us over over to there. Wow, look. It’s so gorgeous. The first Otsu Thai Bashi is said to have been built in 1793. Back then, the Wisteria trelluses were longer than they are today. The entire 120 m length of the present day bridge is made of Hinoi or Japanese Cyprus. Let’s go. I like these kind of walks because it’s a natural frame, isn’t it? Hope you’re doing well, Colleen. I did a little walk um at the fashion institute this morning. The fashion I might go back on Tuesday if I can get a ticket. Um looks like they’re having some sort of Got the um got it in my bag here. They’re having some sort of like graduation. So, if I can, um, that would be I’d really enjoy that. That would be a nice thing to do. Yeah. So, it’s walkabout Wednesday, so we’re allowed to do a couple of couple of lives. Frame in a frame. Yeah. Oh, bit of weak sun today. And a helicopter just going over as well. It’s a little bit cloudy. We had a massive thunderstorm last night. Boy, it was so loud and the lightning was so close. So, we started on the other side just through there and now we’re having just walking through here. The old wooden wooden railings that says, “Please do not lean on.” It looks like somebody might have done a lean on. They’ve got a mat here. That would be a bit nasty because if you did lean on, guess what? There’s quite a few rocks below as well. Oh, look at that pretty little bridge through there. Look at that. Isn’t that lovely? Oh, such a nice breeze. Oh, 8:40 in the morning. 8:43. Nice. That’s a good time. That’s a really nice time, Colleen. Just day is just starting and you’re traveling the world. That is awesome. Wow, look at the wisteria. Yeah, some of these plants in Japan are so old. Yeah, this provides all of the greenery and all of the flowers. 10:44 Pacific time. 10:44 p.m. Okay, that’s about right. Yeah, I’m going to be in your neck of the woods. Well, I’m going to be in Seattle in August. Oh, I suddenly just got a over there. Close. You can see all the movement in the water. They’re all little fish. Oh, this will be the seabream they were talking about. Let me zoom in for a moment. We’ll catch a jumping fish. Quite fun. Quite good. Nature’s amazing. Yeah. Okay, let’s keep on with our little bit of a walk here. Yeah, look at the root or the trunk, I should say. Look, it’s massive. Such an accessible garden, too. It’s, you know, right here. You just get off at the Shia dome station and it’s like a five minute walk. Oh, we got a bit of a zigzag in the middle. Another bridge there. Lot of construction going on. Oh, that’s good, Rose. That’s fabulous. Oh, thanks, Colleen. You guys are awesome. Well, I do it for you. I don’t do it for me. If you weren’t there, there’s the Conrad. If you weren’t here, there’d be no point. Yeah, David, I’m good. How are you? I’m good. Hope everything’s going well with you. The stars are all aligned. Here’s a small wisteria. Nice to see the periscope people. Always. Yeah, I’m in Japan for a wee while. I’ll be here until the uh I’m here for another month actually until the 9th of August. when I’ll be off to Vancouver, Canada Day today. Well, it’s the 2nd of July here, but it’s still the 1st of July there. Not sure this bridge is open or not. So this is the tea house. Oh, it’s been destroyed by fire twice. Seattle. Yeah. Yep. Seattle. Oh, it looks like we can go over this bridge. That’s good. It’ll sort of take me towards the the way out. Slippery. Watch your step in that direction. Cool. We’ll head over this way. We’ll get under those trees there. So, we’re just going to go back here. First time to Seattle. First time to Vancouver. But really really beautiful garden. Okay, let’s go. Let’s go. I could stay here for hours with you. We’re in Tokyo, Rose. We’re in Tokyo. Tokyo Rose, the seabbream. Yeah, I guess they just come in and out because it’s sort of like um canals, uh walks, and I guess they can come in and out as they please. Very good. We got the sign here. I’m sure it’s going to tell me to turn right anyway, which I which I’m planning to do. And I need to go. I’m a little bit hungry, so I need to go and get something to eat. And an iced coffee. Iced coffee is really good in Japan. Yep. Exit the duck memorial. Ah, this is the duck shooting pond. Yeah, seaw wall that direction. Ah, you might was f you’ve been there five years, Colleen. Yeah. Awesome. Yeah, I’m look really looking forward to my um few days in Vancouver. I’m staying with some friends there. We’re going to go through to Whistler for a day. So really I’ve only ever been to the other side Niagara Falls and Toronto. So it’ll be really really cool. Okay kids, I reckon this is a good spot to finish because look at the city. We’ve got the history. We’re standing in the historic part of the city and there’s the brand new part still being built. Look at all those cranes on top. So, some people are living over lots of people living over there. Anyway, kids, I’m going to say goodbye. This is the second walkabout we’ve done today. So, let me turn the camera. You know, I hate this part. Hey, thanks everybody. Thanks for joining. Oh, I’m looking a bit drippy. Michelle, fantastic. Yeah, it’s hot. It’s hot. Take care everybody. Have a really great I’ll see you tomorrow and then on Friday, I’ll see you from Fujisan. Uh we’re going to try and get some views of um Mount Fuji, but fabulous to see you all. Thank you so much. Thanks, Lisa. All your gorgeous photos that you do. Thanks for the coffees, everybody. Just thanks for being here. That’s as I was just saying to Rose. That’s the reason we do this because we love sharing what we’re doing with you and if you enjoy it, we love it. Take care everybody. We’ll see you all tomorrow. Thank you so much. Bye for now.
