九頭龍神社は、古来、「箱根権現御手洗の池」と称された「芦ノ湖」の守護神・九頭龍大神をお祀りする神社です。御祭神の九頭龍大神は、昔から人々に「九頭龍さま」と崇められ、商売繁盛・金運守護・心願成就・良縁成就等に特に御神徳の高い龍神様として信仰されています。鎌倉時代初頭に編纂された箱根神社の縁起『筥根山縁起并序』には、「西汀に驛路あり。毒龍は波を凌ぎ、雲を拏ふ。人民は多く損害を免れず。万巻は彼の深潭に臨んで石臺を築き祷らせしむ。爾に毒竜は形を改め、寶珠并びに錫杖水瓶を捧げて乞ひて受降を要す。即ち咒して之を鐵鎖を以て繋ぐ。其の幹を号して栴檀訶羅木と名づく。厥その形は九頭の毒龍なり。」と記されており、芦ノ湖の九頭龍信仰の起源を伝えています。九頭龍の森に鎮座する、珍しい白い鳥居と御社殿の白龍神社は、昨今人気上昇中の神社です。御祭神・白龍大神をお祀りする社で、九頭龍神社本宮にも程近い湖岸に位置します。ご利益は「勝負運」「家庭運上昇」「縁結び」「金運」「家内安全」「家運」「商売繁盛」などと言われています。

Kuzuryu Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Kuzuryu Okami, the guardian deity of Lake Ashi, which has been called “Hakone Gongen Mitarai Pond” since ancient times. The enshrined deity, Kuzuryu Okami, has been worshipped by people as “Kuzuryu-sama” since ancient times, and is believed to be a dragon god with particularly high divine virtues for business prosperity, protection of financial luck, fulfillment of wishes, and fulfillment of good relationships. The Hakone Shrine legend “Hakoneyama Engi to Jo”, compiled in the early Kamakura period, states, “There is a road on the western shore. A poisonous dragon overcomes the waves and cuts through the clouds. Many people cannot escape damage. Many people built a stone platform facing the deep pool and had people pray. The poisonous dragon then changed its shape and offered a jewel and a shakujo and a water bottle, begging for it to surrender. They then recited a chant and tied it with an iron chain. The trunk is called Sendankaraki. Its shape is that of a nine-headed poisonous dragon.” This tells us the origin of the nine-headed dragon faith at Lake Ashi. Hakuryu Shrine, with its unusual white torii gate and main building, is a shrine that has been gaining popularity in recent years, located in the Kuzuryu Forest. This shrine enshrines the main deity, Hakuryuu Okami, and is located on the lake shore close to the main Kuzuryu Shrine. It is said that the shrine offers blessings such as luck in games, increased family luck, matchmaking, money, safety in the home, family luck, and business prosperity.
