Japan Walk in Machida, Tokyo – Hidden Temple & 500 Buddha Statues | Walking Tour【4K UHD】
I just came down from Oyamada Ryokuchi in Machida City, Tokyo. We will head to the ruins of Oyamada Castle, which was nearby. Please subscribe to the channel. We need everyone’s help to run it. Looking at the map, this area seems to be a lowland carved out by the river. This is Daisenji Temple. This is a historical temple that was founded in the middle of the Muromachi period. I guess it was 700-800 years ago. The shape of the cherry blossom tree is quite distorted. I guess it’s the lifespan. Even the rows of cherry blossom trees look bland in winter. Old Jizo and new Jizo are lined up side by side. The stone pillars also look old. It no longer has a face, just a stone on top. That’s a great gate. The suburbs were less affected by the air raids of the Greater East Asia War, so if they survived the Great Kanto Earthquake, there would still be plenty left. There are traces of some kind of pattern on the ceiling. Was it even a picture? It’s a splendid main hall. Arhat statue. A fully automatic bell tower? It seems modern. I wonder if the bell will ring automatically at the scheduled time. There is a beautiful grave. The door is rusty. What is this? Is it a grave? Since it’s one step higher, I wonder if this one is for someone of great rank. That’s a lot. I wonder what it is. A servant? It seems that the site of Oyamada Castle is located above this temple. Is there a path that leads somewhere higher? There are people. What should I do to get to the other side? This looks like the grave of the greatest person. In the back is a bamboo forest. Is this the grave zone? There seems to be a mix of old and new graves. This is a dead end. I wonder if there are mountains or fields in the background. There is a mountain behind the main hall. This looks like the ruins of Oyamada Castle. That’s a nice tree. There’s something. Arahant is pointing with his finger. A path is drawn through the bamboo forest. That’s amazing. Is this how the 500 Arhats are arranged? This is the Ninomaru ruins of Oyamada Castle. Former castle. It seems difficult to maintain this bamboo forest. If this was in Kyoto, it would be crowded with tourists. They are arranged in a circle around the tree and shrine. It’s still there on the other side. They are forming a circle. I wonder if this area is the remains of the main enclosure of Oyamada Castle. It’s like the old saying, “It’s good to laugh!” It’s hard to walk. Tona Toraguchi. Was it also a side gate? After all, if there was no one to maintain it, it would probably be full of fallen leaves like this. The road leading to the main enclosure is well maintained. It looks like it’s going to be hard to walk on the other side, so I’ll go back to normal. I’m back. Is this a car passage? Let’s get out of the gate. Now, after this, I will go to see the source of the Tsurumi River near here. This river is familiar to people from Yokohama and Kawasaki. By the way, this is the upstream part of the Tsurumi River, and it is hardened with concrete. It’s a dirty river. Domestic wastewater is also flowing. Is this area a separate septic tank? I guess this is because the Tsurumi River is not so beautiful in the middle and downstream. This narrow road is probably an old road. The bus stop name is “Yama no Hashi”. And even though it’s in Machida City, Tokyo, it’s a Kanagawa bus called Kanachu. Around here, Nihon University’s third high school is about 500-600 meters. In the future, a monorail station connecting Tama Center Station and Machida Station will be built nearby. Maybe Dosojin. It must have been enshrined on the road from ancient times. Check Tsurumi River. It’s dirty and doesn’t look like an upper class place. This house still has a storehouse. Maybe a landowner. In the olden days, there were probably fields spread out all over the place instead of houses. Tsurumi River full of garbage. It may be dirty now, but in the past it must have watered the fields throughout the basin. Arrive at Seseragi Park upstream Perhaps this was a low-swamp area. It feels like it’s a playground. It’s locked down. Even though it was built in a park, some heartless person would vandalize it. dirty. There’s dirt and oil floating around. Did you even throw gasoline at it? Google Maps shows this as the upstream end of the Tsurumi River. But there is still an upper stream. It’s a mansion. The fence is long. We aim further upstream while following the babbling stream. The Tsurumi River runs along the edge of a mountain or hill. It’s kind of dirty, but the seawall isn’t solidified with concrete, and it looks like it’s upstream. The flat land here must have been carved out by the Tsurumi River since ancient times. A culvert? It feels like residential development is being taken over from above. Is this stream that came out the Tsurumi River? The surrounding area is a satoyama landscape, but housing development is also progressing. Here comes the river flow. I wonder if the flow of the river has been adjusted to water each rice field. There has been a lot of traffic since a while ago. Looking at Google Maps, it looks like it’s a shortcut that leads to a major road. It’s a hand-held well. I wonder if he is currently active. The Tsurumi River is just an irrigation canal. This is the true source of the Tsurumi River. A spring at the source of the Tsurumi River. There is spring water coming from the mountain. The spring is artificially surrounded by a circle. There’s a surprising amount of water. I wonder if in ancient times there was competition for water rights. You can see the water gushing out. I understand that this is the source of the Tsurumi River, but what is this stream that flows further upstream? That’s all for today. Thank you for watching. A trip to visit Daisenji Temple and Oyamada Castle Ruins in Machida, Japan. Surrounded by the silence of the bamboo forest, walk along the path where the 500 Arhat statues stand. Hear the whispers of history in the sound of leaves swaying in the wind, and feel the coolness of the Tsurumi River headwaters at your fingertips. In the timeless silence, vestiges of the past gently emerge.
The ruins of Oyamada Castle, which retains the vestiges of the Sengoku era, are quietly spoken by 500 eyes. Listen to the whisper of the wind echoing through the bamboo forest, and soak your hands in the coolness of the Tsurumi River headwaters. What unfolded there was a journey that transcended time.
Daisenji Temple in Machida City, Tokyo. Once you pass through the precincts, you will find a path surrounded by a bamboo forest. As you walk down the narrow path where only the sound of rustling leaves can be heard, 500 Arhat statues suddenly appear. Each face is different, with expressions full of suffering, faces full of smiles, and eyes that seem to be pleading for something. what have they seen? And what are you looking at? When you touch the moss-covered stone surface, you can feel the cool passage of time through your fingertips.
This Gohyakurakan statue quietly watches over the Oyamada Castle ruins. During the Warring States era, many samurai ran here and lost their lives. Now it’s just the wind blowing through. As I stand at the ruins of the former castle gate, memories of the war flash through my mind like a vision. If you stroke the faint remains of the stone wall, you can almost feel the smell of blood and sweat that has flowed there.
The final destination of the journey is the source of the Tsurumi River. Did the river that watered the city begin with such a small spring? When you reach out to touch the clear water seeping through the rocks, you’ll be surprised at how cold it is. There’s a purity to it that makes your fingertips tingle. The water continues to flow, quietly but surely. This eventually travels downstream, reaching Yokohama, Kawasaki, and Tokyo Bay. This single drop that circulates life is the beginning of everything.
This trip is not just sightseeing. Experience the sight of 500 people, immerse yourself in the afterglow of the Sengoku period, and experience the beginnings of a river. This video captures the timeless silence and heartbeat that can only be felt by standing there.
