【神社仏閣ひとり旅】避暑地で御朱印巡り/諏訪大社 四社巡り[御朱印500名印(No.482~485)]
This is Masaharu on the Goshuin Travel. This time, I’m heading west on the JR Chuo Line Azusa Limited Express! After getting off at Chino Station, I head to Suwa Taisha Kamisha Maemiya from the west exit . There is no public transportation, so I either walk for about 36 minutes or take a taxi from the station. I decided to walk, but the route was quite complicated. I headed while checking the map on my mobile phone. I was able to get onto National Route 152. The entrance to Suwa Taisha Kamisha Maemiya is along National Route 152. Suwa Taisha Kamisha Maemiya 1st stop 9:45 am It’s about 300m up a gentle slope from the national route to the main hall of Kamisha Maemiya. “Jikkenro”. On April 15th, the “Oto Festival” is held here after the annual festival. To the right of the Jikkenro is the “Uchi Mitamaden”. At the foot of a large tree is the “Omurosha”. The deity worshipped at Suwa Taisha Kamisha Maemiya is Yasakatome-no-kami. The current main hall was built with old materials from the Ise Grand Shrine Shikinen Sengu ceremony in 1931. To the left of the main hall is the Second Pillar at the front and the Third Pillar at the back. To the right of the main hall is the First Pillar at the front and the Fourth Pillar at the back. A little west of the approach is a shrine within the grounds. Mandokoro-sha. Be careful as the footing is unstable. Koyasu-sha. Enshrining Takashinumakawahime, the guardian deity of matchmaking, safe childbirth and child-rearing. To pray for safe childbirth, we donate a ladle with a missing bottom. Return to the front of the shrine office and head to Wakamiko-sha. It is close to the national highway. To the right of the torii gate is Mizokami-sha. Crossing the highway and in the parking lot is Aratama-sha. It enshrines the spirit of rice. And this is the goshuin I received on the day. I was able to have it written. This time, I was also given a goshuin stamp book. I had it written on the first page. The stamp “Maemiya” is on the bottom right of the goshuin. A gelato shop will open in spring 2025 to the left of the office of Suwa Taisha Maemiya. This time, I only had a drink and took a break. I took a break with some craft ginger ale. Next, I left “Kamisha Maemiya” and headed for “Kamisha Honmiya”. Head west on National Route 152, which turns into a prefectural road halfway through, but just keep going west. After walking for about 30 minutes, you will see a sign for “Suwa Taisha Kamisha”. Turn left. Then, the torii gate and grounds of Kamisha Honmiya will come into view. Suwa Taisha Kamisha Honmiya 2nd stop 11:30 am The “chozuya” (purification fountain) was built in 1831. Near the chozuya, there is a hot spring called “Myojin-yu”. “Raiden statue”. A life-size statue of Raiden, a sumo wrestler from Shinshu who was active during the Edo period. Beyond the chozuya (purification fountain), there is the Ichino-Mihashira. Near the Ichino-Mihashira is the Okutsuishi (footwear stone). The annual festival is held on April 28th every year. In front of you is the Heijumon Gate. Go around to the right and continue on. In front is the worship hall, and in the back is the sanpōden (prayer hall). There is no main hall at Kamisha Honmiya. The current sanpōden (prayer hall) was completed in 1838. To the right of the worship hall, the chokuganden (imperial prayer hall), built in 1690, was under construction. Also, in the back to the right of the chokuganden (imperial prayer hall), you can see the Yonomihashira (fourth pillar). On the west side of the grounds is Takashimasha (Takashima Shrine). It enshrines three generations of lords of the Suwa and Takashima domains during the early Edo period. It was mid-May. Peony flowers were blooming in front of the shrine office. Furthermore, at the back of the west side of the grounds is the only wooden torii gate at Suwa Taisha Shrine, the Namiyoke Torii. Also, part of the east side of the grounds is currently undergoing preservation and repair work. Next, we head to the Entrance Gate Nunobashi. It was built in 1829. The long corridor is said to be about 70m long. Along the way is the Treasure Hall. On the left is the East Treasure Hall, and on the right is the West Treasure Hall. Between the East and West Treasure Halls is the Shikyakumon Gate. It was donated by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1608. Okuninushi Shrine. The enshrined deity, Okuninushi no Mikoto, is the father deity of Suwa Okami. A place for worshipping auxiliary shrines and sub-shrines. There are 39 shrines lined up. The Gakudo Hall was built during the Bunsei era (1818-1830). It is where plaques and votive plaques are kept. Near the east side of the Entrance Gate is the Dehaya Shrine. It is a custom to offer pebbles and pray for a full recovery from warts. Just to the east of the entrance gate is the “Nino-Mihashira”. In addition, at the back to the right of the entrance gate, there is the “Shinbasha”. And this is the goshuin I received that day. They wrote it for me. The stamp of Kamisha Honmiya was on the bottom right. After leaving “Kamisha Honmiya”, I headed for “Shimosha Harumiya”, but before that, I decided to have lunch at a popular ramen shop. I couldn’t find a suitable bus, so I decided to walk again. I walked quite a lot that day… The ramen shop was near the Iijima traffic light on the Suwa Bypass. “Harbin Ramen” was founded in 1974. This ramen shop originated in Suwa. This time, I ordered the standard Harbin ramen. It’s neither miso nor soy sauce. But the rich soup is addictive. The atmosphere of the shop with the scent of the Showa era was also good! With my stomach full, I resumed my goshuin tour! I headed for Suwa Taisha Shimosha Harumiya, but when I searched on my mobile map, I found a bus stop that was a 35-minute walk away, so I walked steadily. This time, I couldn’t make it to the bus stop. From Akabane Shako bus stop, I was able to get out in front of Kami-Suwa Station. From Kami-Suwa Station, take the JR Chuo Line to the neighboring Shimo-Suwa Station. When you leave the station, go straight ahead on the road in front and walk north. At the end of the road, turn left at the traffic light in front of Shimo-Suwa Station. Next, turn right at the traffic light at Harumiya Daimon. On the way, keep looking at Gebabashi Bridge and continue on until you arrive at Suwa Taisha Shimosha Harumiya. Suwa Taisha Shimosha Harumiya 3rd stop 3:50 pm The stone torii gate was built in 1659. You can go as far as in front of the Heihaiden and the Left and Right Katahaiden. Behind this is a sacred cedar tree, but there is no main shrine. It was completed in 1780, and the carvings on it are a highlight. At the back of the worship hall and the two halves of the worship hall are the Third and Fourth pillars. In the foreground on the left is the Second pillar. Koyasu Shrine. This shrine enshrines Takashinumakawahime, the mother deity of Suwa Okami. Tsutsugayu Hall. This shrine is where the sacred rice porridge is cooked to carry out the Tsutsugayu ritual. And on the right side of the worship hall and the two halves of the worship hall is the First pillar. Wakamiya Shrine. This shrine enshrines thirteen children of Suwa Okami. Kami-Suwa Shrine. This shrine enshrines Takeminakata-no-Kami, the deity of the Upper Shrine. Musubi-no-Sugi. This is characterized by a fork in the road about 10m above ground level. Kagura Hall. The current building was built during the Tenna era (1681-1684). Gebabashi. It is said to have been built in the Muromachi period and is also known as Taikobashi Bridge. And this is the red seal I received that day. They wrote it for me. The stamp of Shimosha Harumiya was on the bottom right of the red seal. After leaving Shimosha Harumiya, I thought I would head to Shimosha Akimiya next, but unfortunately it was getting late and I couldn’t make it in time for the viewing… I had to go straight through the Shimosuwa Station signal to get to Shimosha Akimiya, but I turned right and returned to Shimosuwa Station. I had booked a hotel for that day near Nagano Station, so I took a local train, taking in the views from the three most beautiful train windows in Japan on the way. The next day, after visiting Zenkoji Temple in Nagano, I decided to head to Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya. For better or worse, it was the usual Toyoko Inn. The next morning, I visited Zenkoji Temple. I will report the details of my visit to Zenkoji Temple at a later date. Then, I returned to Shimosuwa Station. Go straight down the road in front of the station and turn right at the end of the road, Shimosuwa Station signal. Then, Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya came into view directly ahead. Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya 7th stop 4:00 pmThe large komainu (guardian lion) statues in front of the Kaguraden are made of bronze and stand 1.7m tall. The Kaguraden was built in 1835. The large shimenawa rope is replaced every time a new Onbashira festival is held. Behind the Kaguraden are the Heihaiden and the Left and Right Haidens. It was built in 1781. Behind the Haiden is the Treasure Hall and the sacred yew tree. There is no main hall. Just like the Harumiya. The carvings on the Haiden are a highlight. We could also see the Third Haiden at the back left of the Haiden, and the Fourth Haiden at the back right. And the Second Haiden at the front left of the Haiden. Here are the shrines within the grounds, from the left: Kashima Shrine, Koyasu Shrine, Kamokamige Shrine, and Yasaka Shrine. And to the right of the worship hall is Ichino-Mibashira. Next to it is Tenran-no-Shiromatsu, a rare pine tree native to China. There are also shrines within the grounds lined up to the right of the worship hall. On the left is the Kotaijingu Shrine, which enshrines the deity of Ise Grand Shrine. Wakamiya Shrine enshrines the thirteen children of Suwa Okami. To the right of that is the Inari Shrine. In front of the Kagura Hall is the Neiri Cedar, a tree that is 600-700 years old. To the left of the Chozuya are the Chihiro Pond and the Chihiro Shrine. The deity worshipped at the Chihiro Shrine is unknown. The Chihiro Pond is a pond into which the clear waters of the Mitarai River flow. There are also shrines within the grounds at the back to the right of the torii gate. The Hachiman Shrine. It seems to also enshrine Tenjin-sama and Kibune-sama. Behind the torii gate, a short walk down the approach, is the Ebisu Shrine. It enshrines Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, the father of Suwa Okami, and Kotoshironushi-no-Mikoto, his older brother. From near the Ebisu Shrine, you can see Lake Suwa. And this is the goshuin I received that day. They wrote it for me. The stamp of Shimosha Akimiya is placed on the bottom right of the goshuin. And I completed my visit to all four Suwa Taisha shrines! I received a commemorative gift. I will use it as a goshuin book holder. Thank you! This goshuin tour ended at “Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya”. Before going home, I stopped by “Shintsuru Honten”, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop located just outside the temple grounds . Founded in 1873 (Meiji 6), it is famous for its salt yokan. Agar is a local specialty of Chino. They still follow the traditional manufacturing method. The saltiness was just right and the sweetness was mellow. I also bought some other Japanese confectionery. The whole family enjoyed it! I bought some souvenirs for my family and headed home. I walked back to Shimo-Suwa Station and took the train up the Chuo Main Line. From Shimo-Suwa, I took a local train to Kami-Suwa, one stop away, and then took the express train. It was a two-day journey of 48,723 steps!
