Tokyo Shrine and Temple Tour Tokyo’s Koto, Chuo, Chiyoda and Toshima wards Sarue Shrine Sarue Shrine is a shrine located in Sarue, Koto Ward, Tokyo. In ancient times, it was called Sarue Inari, a shrine for Inari worshippers, and was renamed Sarue Shrine after the war. At the time, this was an inlet where the military commander Sarutota lost his life and was mourned by the local fishermen. The name “Sarue” is said to be a combination of the “saru” (monkey) from Sarutota and the “e” (river) from Irie. The character for the god monkey is written as “Masaru” and it is said to ward off evil spirits. It seems that many visitors are soothed by the adorable monkeys. Within the grounds is Fujimori Inari Shrine, popularly known as Sarue no Inari. The shrine was named Fujimori Inari Shrine because the festival was held when the wisteria flowers surrounding the shrine were in bloom. The foxes gazing at each other are said to be paired together, arranged by the chief priest to welcome each other. The guardian foxes and numerous divine fox statues tell the story of the shrine’s past as a shrine known as Sarue Inari. Behind the main shrine is the Kitamuki Inari Shrine. It enshrines a branch of the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto, and also enshrines the goddess Ukemochi. The monkeys are cute, but the demons running away from the beans are also cute in this Setsubun goshuin. Juganji Temple Mimamori Kannon Juganji Temple is a Jodo sect temple located in Sarue, Koto Ward, Tokyo. What catches your eye is the Mimamori Kannon Bodhisattva in the center of the temple grounds. It contains a prayer that Kannon’s infinite mercy will watch over us, the people who have passed away, and us who are still alive today. At the foot of the Mimamori Kannon there was a Mizukake Kannon statue and a bell. I received a handwritten goshuin at the temple office on the first floor of the main hall. Lunch break at Cafe Kichi Taking a break at Cafe Kichi in Koto Public Hall, Koto Ward I ate a banh mi sandwich with lots of fillings. Suitengu Shrine Suitengu Shrine, located in Nihonbashi, Chuo Ward, Tokyo, is famous for granting blessings for fertility, safe childbirth, and child rearing. It began in 1818 when the lord of the Kurume domain enshrined a branch of the Kurume Suitengu Shrine at the Edo residence. Around the Dog are the characters for the twelve Chinese zodiac signs, and it is said that you will receive good fortune if you stroke the sign of your zodiac sign. A heartwarming statue of a baby kappa clinging to its mother, showing how the baby kappa is helping to raise a child. It is said that wearing the bell cord from the shrine as a belly band ensured easy childbirth, and so the shrine’s benefits spread throughout the country. There are shrines within the grounds of Hosho Benzaiten, Takao Shrine, Hikaze Shrine, and Akiha Shrine. I received a cute goshuin stamp of three lucky dogs lined up. Souvenir: Shigemori’s Ningyoyaki I bought some ningyo-yaki filled with sweet bean paste as a souvenir at Shigemori Eishindo near Suitengu Shrine. Hirakawa Tenmangu Shrine It is said that Hirakawa Tenmangu Shrine began when Ota Dokan, the lord of Hirakawa Castle, enshrined Sugawara no Michizane within the castle. The next morning after having a dream about Michizane, he was presented with a painting handwritten by Michizane, which made him feel a connection with the person he was looking for. Tenjin Shrine is associated with plums and cows, and Hirakawa Tenmangu Shrine also has plum trees and enshrines a stone cow. The main deity is Sugawara no Michizane, and the co-deity is Tokugawa Ieyasu, also known as Konoda. The shrines within the precincts are Otori Shrine, Shio Shrine, and Sengen Shrine. The plaque read “Sandainkyu” Hirakawa Inari Shrine’s founding and origins are unknown, but the shrine building has been there since before 1590. There were also brush mounds and strength stones on the grounds. Limited-time goshuin stamps available during the plum blossom season Hirakawa Inari Shrine’s red stamp, available only on the day of the ox I received some rice crackers from God. Koyasu Inari Shrine Koyasu Inari Shrine is located in Kamiikebukuro, Toshima Ward, Tokyo. The exact date of its founding is unclear, but it was enshrined at its current location sometime before 1573-1591. In the spring, you can see a variety of flowers in the temple grounds, including plum blossoms, Kawazu cherry blossoms, weeping cherry blossoms, and peaches. I received a monthly goshuin stamp that changes color every month.

こんにちは、普段の生活の中で、どこに行っても神社はあって全く意識もしませんが、こうして説明を見ながら見ていると、神社は人々にとって深い意味を持つ物だと思いました。
地域のつながりや、その場所の歴史を伝え、祈りや願いを込める場所であり、初詣や七五三や様々な行事を行う場所で、忙しい日常の中で非日常を感じさせてくれる場所なんですね、ぼーっとそんな事を考えながら見てました☺️！でも一番印象に残ったのはあんこたっぷりの人形焼きでした😁
都内にも、個性的な神社仏閣がたくさんありますね。猿江神社の境内が可愛いです❤❤お猿さんがいっぱい。みまもり観音も迫力十分ですね。ご利益がありそう✨✨人形焼き美味しそうですね。たくさんの興味深い場所のご紹介ありがとうございます。😊💕🙏🎶

江東公会堂の食堂‼️‼️30年前ですけど当時はこんなシャレオツなくて300円台で定食食べられて、安くてイイぞーってイメージでした😅
あの頃が思い出されましたわ
人形焼も亡くなったさ母が好きでよく買ったなー。母はあんこ入ってないやつが好きだったんですよね😊

猿江神社というあまり聞いたことのない神社と東京だとバインミーもおしゃれになる江東区が見られて楽しまさせてもらいました。
水天宮はビルの中にあるんでしたよね？古めかしとばかり思っていたのでお参りした時は驚きました
