【岐阜旅行】郡上八幡&川原町で食べ歩き!レトロ可愛い町並みに癒される週末旅!

Hello, I’m Shie. I recently went on a two-day trip to Gifu. First, I’ll be sightseeing in Gujo Hachiman! The first place I came to was Igawa Path. It’s a path along a historic irrigation canal, and you can see the fish swimming. They’re so big! The path is surrounded by stone walls and trees, and you can enjoy the quaint scenery. You can see river fish swimming, from big to small. The water is also crystal clear and very beautiful☆. Just looking at it made me feel cool❤︎. There were even fish painted on the manholes! I started walking around the town! The first thing I saw was the Gujo Hachiman Old Government Building Memorial Hall. The retro exterior, which retains the atmosphere of the early Showa era, is attractive♪. The Gujo Hachiman Rakugeikan, which is right next to it, also has a wonderful appearance❤︎. I came along the river. The water here is also very beautiful. A terrace that was secretly located next to the Gujo Hachiman Old Government Building Memorial Hall♪. I could see Gujo Hachiman Castle at the top of the mountain. I crossed the bridge. The Yoshida River is a crystal clear stream, and the view from the bridge is exceptional. Such transparency☆. I came to a street with a nice atmosphere. This time, I’m going to enjoy eating various things while walking around! First, I’ll try grilled salted sweetfish! But then I realized it was closed… I pulled myself together and continued my walk (lol). This area is lined with variety stores and cafes that have been renovated from storehouses, which is fun♪. It’s fun to go shopping! It looks like it’s fun to walk along the river♪. I went to cross the Yoshida River again. It’s a different bridge from before, but the atmosphere from here is also great! I can see where I’m going next. I’ve arrived at Shinmachi Street. Looking into the waterway… There are carp here too! Shinmachi Street is one of the main streets that represent Gujo Hachiman. I’ll go down this street. This is Yanaka Water Street. A waterway flows beside the road, and it’s a walking path where you can experience the beautiful water and the townscape. It’s a spot where you can enjoy a charming atmosphere that harmonizes with the scenery of willow trees and townhouses. It’s a place that makes you say it’s wonderful. The cobblestone-paved road is nice♪. I walked down Shinmachi-dori again. The old-fashioned houses and townhouses still remain, and it’s a street that makes me feel nostalgic. Just walking along the street, you can see the picturesque townscape. Swallows were flying happily! It’s time to go on a food tour! I arrived at Maruichi Butcher Shop. You can enjoy local raw meat, regional dishes, and hot gourmet food. This is Meiho Ham Frankfurter (300 yen). It’s chewy and packed with meat. It’s simple, but you can taste the flavor of the meat. This is Hida Beef Croquette (250 yen). It has a soft texture and a slight sweetness. Next, I came to Dango Chaya. It looked like I could eat inside the shop, so I decided to eat there. I spent time looking at the beautiful green courtyard. It is a cafe renovated from a 100-year-old townhouse. I ordered a set of two dumplings and a drink (880 yen). They are shining❤︎. The drink is freshly squeezed lemon squash. It’s refreshing♪. Each mitarashi dumpling is firm. The special sauce is not too sweet and delicious! They say that they carefully roll the rice from Gujo one by one. Add some kinako to change the flavor♪. Thank you for the meal. Next, we came to the Sample Workshop. This is a facility where you can experience and observe the food sample culture. There is a retro atmosphere. Gujo Hachiman is said to be the birthplace of food samples. You can see realistic food samples and experience making your own samples. Food sample souvenirs are also sold, which were very cute and fun! We came to a different street from the previous one. A small path appeared, so let’s go! The atmosphere of walking on the cobblestones is also great♪. It seems that there is a famous spring water if you walk here. There are historical houses lined up around. We arrived at Sogi-sui. This is a historic natural spring. It became famous nationwide after being designated as the first of the 100 famous waters in Japan. The area is surrounded by deep green mountains, creating a tranquil landscape. We went back to the street and continued our stroll. An even more tasteful landscape came into view. We were curious about the Gujo Dance♪. This area is the Gujo Hachiman Kita-cho Traditional Buildings Preservation District. It has been designated as an Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District by the national government. The wonderful townscape continues, captivating just by walking. It’s an alley that makes you want to walk. Over there is the Gujo Hachiman Townscape Exchange Center, which disseminates the charm of the history and townscape. This is Ryukyo-no-Sato, where you can enjoy the food and culture of Gujo Hachiman. A delicious salt-grilled sweetfish food sample♪. We came to Higashinokumaya Okazuya Godaime. We ordered Gohei-mochi (450 yen). It was freshly baked and hot, and was covered in a rich walnut sauce. It was chewy and had a nostalgic taste. The next shop came into view. Nakasho Confectionery Shop, a Japanese and Western confectionery shop. I ordered the Seiryu no Shizuku (220 yen for eating on the go) and Mizumanju (190 yen). I pierced it with a toothpick. It was difficult… lol. Eh! And it came out! I poured the brown sugar syrup that came with it. It was a jelly inspired by the clear streams of Gujo Hachiman, and its transparent appearance was very refreshing. It was refreshing and perfect for the hot summer! Next was Mizumanju. When I turned it over and opened the lid, it also looked very refreshing. The texture was smooth and went well with the elegant sweetness of the koshian paste. I enjoyed the sweets made from Gujo Hachiman’s famous water. I was able to enjoy the charming Gujo Hachiman. Now, I headed to my accommodation. It took about an hour by car. And I arrived at TEF. I will tell you about it in the next accommodation article. The next day, I checked out of the accommodation. On the second day, we will continue to enjoy Gifu! If the weather had been good, we might have taken the ropeway to the observation deck. It seems that there is also Gifu Castle. We will stroll through the old town of Kawaramachi. There is a picture of cormorant fishing on the manhole. It seems that you can see cormorant fishing on the Nagara River in this area. It is a summer tradition with a history of over 1,300 years. We enter the old town of Kawaramachi. There is already a retro atmosphere, and we are very excited. There are many old-fashioned houses with narrow frontages and depths. A wonderful general store ❤︎. There are also many restaurants and shops that have been renovated from townhouses and storehouses! A red self-driving bus was running. We found a statue of Matsuo Basho. We will proceed through the nostalgic townscape. Everywhere you look, it is picturesque ☆. It’s about time for tea! We arrived at Cafe & Gallery Kawaramachiya. The building is a townhouse built over 130 years ago and is also designated as an important cultural property of Gifu City. I rang the bell to call the staff. The way the cups were brought out was great. I started brewing the tea. I ordered a cake set (1,320 yen). From the cakes available each day, I chose the Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc. I ate it. The Mont Blanc had a gentle sweetness, and I could taste the natural flavor of the Japanese chestnut. There is fresh cream inside. I’m glad it comes with ice cream! You can spend a relaxing and peaceful time. I also recommend viewing the attached gallery! Thank you for the meal. When I went outside, it was raining a lot. Next, I’ll go buy a quiche! This is rustico4. It is a bakery and cafe with several stores in Gifu Prefecture. Bread, quiche, sandwiches, etc. are lined up in the showcase. I bought the quiche Takana Potato (550 yen) and Carrot Edamame (520 yen). It was big, full of ingredients, and very delicious! I came to LONG GOOD, which is right next door. It is a distillery that handles craft gin and tonics. I bought Green Tea + Jasmine (693 yen). It had a gorgeous aroma and a refreshing taste ♪. I made a good purchase! It’s raining, but I’ll take a walk a little more. The townscape looks great in the rain. The wet cobblestones, old-fashioned buildings, and the streets that have become more charming are very quiet. I walked along looking at other interesting shops. I reached a bridge. I could see Gifu Castle on the top of the mountain from here! It was time to go back the way I came. It was a very nice street. That was the sightseeing and gourmet edition of my trip to Gifu. Next time I’ll bring you the accommodation edition. Please like and subscribe to my channel. Before going home, I went to eat Gifu’s specialty ramen. I came across Gifu Tanmen. I ordered Gifu Tanmen (880 yen). The soup was salty and had a strong garlic flavor♪. It was refreshing and rich, and I finished it in an instant☆. I also topped it with a seasoned egg (150 yen)❤︎. Thank you for watching.
