Vlog
Hello, I’m Inomata from Neige. This channel is a channel that distributes vlogs about travel and daily life. In this video, I will introduce my stay in Lisbon. Actually, I got sick during my stay in Lisbon, but on the first day I still participated in the free tour, but it became a little hard to walk and I started to feel feverish. I decided to go to the hospital in the evening of that day. This feeling of discomfort had been going on since France, so I thought I had reached my limit and decided to go to the hospital this time. So, for those of you who are planning to go abroad in the future, I would like to talk about what preparations you should make if you get sick overseas, based on my own experience. Please watch the main video first. If you want to know more, please skip to this minute. I used the overseas travel accident insurance that is automatically attached to my JCB card. Depending on the card company, there are two types: use-attached and automatic-attached. In my case, it is automatic with my JCB Sorachika Gold card. What this automatic means is that the insurance applies even if you suddenly get sick or injured overseas without prior application. Also, use is a recruitment type for sightseeing by applying for tours, etc., so please be careful if you arrange a flight yourself . Recently, automatic attachments have been changed to use-attached, so you should always check. Also, there was a time when I used a transportation period before leaving Japan, but recently the terms have been changing, so I think it’s best to check with your own card. The first thing I did this time was to ask the front desk after returning to the hotel and call the insurance desk using JCB’s toll-free number . They introduced me to a nearby hospital, so I immediately went there by Uber taxi. I had some trouble with the hospital. The hospital I went to this time was in Lisbon, Portugal, and there was a receptionist who didn’t speak English, so it was quite difficult, and I used translation, but it was a little hard to communicate well. So there was the first hurdle. Regarding the part that wasn’t in that language, originally, if I showed my JCB card, it was supposed to be covered by insurance, and I would be exempt from payment on the spot, but JCB had sent an attached email to the hospital with a signature, but when I explained this to the receptionist, they said it hadn’t arrived, so it was very difficult to understand. In the end, I ended up paying with a different Rakuten Visa card. This was because JCB had told me in advance that any card would be okay to pay with, so there were no problems. This time, I went to an emergency hospital, which is open 24 hours a day, even after the evening on weekdays. I went to the reception and had the doctor see me, and when the doctor saw me, I explained my symptoms and took my temperature, and that was it. I thought if they couldn’t understand me I could just use Google Translate on my phone, but I didn’t have any difficult symptoms, so I used gestures to tell them that my throat was sore. At that time, the coronavirus was still spreading and many people were coughing. So I think it was probably coronavirus based on the symptoms, but in Europe, the diagnosis of coronavirus didn’t exist at that time, so the doctor said it was tonsillitis . He wrote it down in English on a note, so I looked it up afterwards. After the examination, I went to the cashier, but I didn’t realize until the end that the number I was given to see the doctor at the beginning was different from the number I was given to see the doctor at the cashier, and I was feeling sick all the time and fell asleep, so I lost a lot of time. In the end, someone told me to get a number, so I got it and went to the cashier right away, and after that I was prescribed medicine, and the next morning I bought medicine and a thermometer at a pharmacy near the hotel, and the whole mess was over. Actually, on my way home, I was in a pinch because my smartphone didn’t charge, so I went to the hospital’s administration building to charge it, and then I was able to call an Uber on the way home without any problems, so I was really grateful to the local people for their help. By the way, I paid 400€ this time. It’s quite expensive, a surprising price, but according to the explanation, this was a deposit . I paid the 400€ deposit before going to the hospital. After the consultation, the amount will be decided and the difference will be refunded later, so I told them my Mitsubishi UFJ Bank account where I can transfer money overseas. I strongly recommend that you have an account in Japan where you can transfer money overseas. At this time, I was asked for an I-VAN code. By the way, I think that neither Sony Bank nor Rakuten Bank had this I-VAN code at the time, so I think it’s good to have an account in Japan where you can transfer money overseas in case of such an emergency. As for insurance claims, I was able to claim for the taxi fare to and from the hospital when I returned to the hotel from the city, and the medicine at the pharmacy, so the amount I paid was the amount I actually paid to the hospital and the amount I got back as a deposit. They also calculated the difference and refunded it all at the rate at that time and the current rate, so I actually paid nothing out of pocket. However, although I didn’t have to pay anything, the most difficult thing was when I went to the hospital. This overseas travel accident insurance that comes automatically with your credit card is a relief if you have the card, but I recommend that you get a hospital visit letter from your card company when you decide to go on a trip . When you pay for overseas travel accident insurance, you receive some paperwork . It comes in the mail. I don’t know if it’s like this now, but it used to be like that. The paperwork is written in English, so having it with you will be very useful when you go to the hospital overseas. If you go to the hospital overseas and the insurance applies, it will make a big difference whether you have the paperwork or not, so please inquire. My children often get sick and have fevers, so I was pretty used to it, but when it happens to me, I panic. Overseas, there is no custom of wearing masks like in Japan, so there are a lot of people coughing around and it’s easy to spread the virus. It is especially easy to catch the virus if you are tired from traveling and your immunity is low, so I recommend that you bring cold medicine, antipyretics, and a thermometer from Japan. I brought cold medicine with me, but I forgot to bring cold medicine this time, so I had a terrible experience. This is what happens if you neglect to prepare, so please be careful. Of course, the most important thing when traveling abroad is to avoid getting sick or injured, but there are times when something unexpected happens, so I recommend that you be prepared just in case. You will also need your passport when visiting a doctor. I hope my experience this time will be useful to someone . Well, it’s been a bit long from the beginning, but from here on, please enjoy the Lisbon travel edition. This time, my voice is a bit raspy, so it may be difficult to hear. I have arrived in Lisbon, Portugal, and from here I would like to take an Uber taxi to my accommodation . Lastly, I changed from merci to obbligato . Good morning. I’ve caught a cold and my throat is sore. This is the dormitory I’m staying in . I stayed in a 4-person women’s room. It’s separated by curtains like this, so it feels quite private. I only stayed in a dormitory this time, so it’s like this. There are lockers so you can store your valuables and there’s a shower. I just took this picture because the people in my room were just leaving. There’s a shower. Today I’m taking part in the hostel’s free tour. We’re going on a tour for about 2 and a half hours. The weather is so nice. I’ve walked quite a bit. I think I’m getting pretty close to the sea. It’s been about 30 minutes. It seems like I’m heading to the meeting point. I’ll go back to the hostel on my own. Apparently there was a big earthquake in Portugal. I think I’m probably right if I understand correctly, but the tsunami came and about 70% of the people died and the town was almost wiped out, but this building explains what remained. The streetscape is really cute, and it’s a bit different from Europe. There was a big earthquake above, I learned about it for the first time. [Music] It just feels a bit dangerous, but what is this place? Wow, what is this? I would never come here alone. There are so many fences here. I wonder if this is Portugal? Where am I going next? We’ve come to a place with a great view. They say take your time and gather. They ‘re still going up. The atmosphere of the tiles is wonderful. There’s a lot of green. The color scheme is also very nice. I was left behind, so I’m heading there in a hurry . It seems like there’s still a lot of climbing to do. It’s not the weekend so it’s not open today, but I ‘m not in Lisbon on the weekend so I wonder if I can see the flea market. Interesting. Cars are passing by, it looks beautiful. It’s an hour from endachtikweg . Just before 12 o’clock . Amazing. You might not be able to enjoy sightseeing in Lisbon unless you get this far. It seems like you have to climb quite a hill. It seems like this, not that way. I wonder if anyone can join the free tour. I think there were a few guides. There was a meeting from the hostel, but I guess it was the top because I was picked up from the hostel and went there after I got there. I think I got to the top . It would be nice if you could speak English. You can communicate , so it’s a bit difficult to continue the conversation even if you understand what they’re saying. It’s a great view again. It’s a great view. You can see the ship . I think this is the last part after this. The bus came on a very narrow road. The bus is so cute on such a narrow road. It’s just the tram . They put red wine in the chocolate. It’s so sweet and delicious . It was 1.50€. It’s about 12:30 now. I think this is the end, but it was pretty fun. I might not be able to go around that far by myself, so I was glad that I was given an explanation. I wonder if a party event is starting. This place has a different atmosphere from Paris. They’re explaining. It’s over here. What should I do after this? I think I’ll go for a meal. We’ll disband from here. Speaking of Lisbon, egg tarts are a thing, so I bought one . The pie was crispy. There was a fabric store next to this restaurant, so I’ll go there after I finish eating. This is the hostel I stayed at on the first night. Lisboa Central Hostel. I stayed in a dormitory for the first time in a while. It’s interesting because people from all over the world stay here. There are shared spaces like this. You have to pay for things like the dining area and the washing machine, but this time I’m only staying one night, so the kitchen is like this and that’s the space. This is free , so I arrived at my accommodation in Lisbon. This is my second place. I stayed in a dormitory yesterday, but I’ll be staying in this room for three nights. I ‘m glad I got a single room after all. It’s a stylish room. I looked at this and thought it would be green because there were some green rooms, but this time it was a yellow room. It was bright and I was happy. The view outside was also nice. The entrance was a little hard to find, but I pressed the buzzer and entered. The key was like this and it was cool. I heard that you have to leave it at the front desk every time you go out. I’m a little sick today, so I’m going to the hospital now. I’ve been moving around a lot, but my throat hurts and I think I might have a fever. I ‘m feeling pretty unwell, but I walked hard so I didn’t really mind, but I’m going to relax for a bit. So I went exploring a bit. This is the second floor. There’s no one here with a TV, so I’ll take a look. It looks like this. It’s really stylish. I think they’re sightseeing. At this time, this is the shared lounge. There’s also a shower room behind this. I wonder if there’s a hair dryer. Too bad there’s no hair dryer here . This is the kitchen. You can do laundry, and there’s a refrigerator. There’s nothing in this shared refrigerator. I wonder if there’s anyone here. I wonder if I should make some coffee here. Is it like a terrace? It’s a place to relax outside. It’s outside. I didn’t think it was outdoors. I wanted to take a shower, but there was no hair dryer, so I got one at the reception. I think I’ll take a shower first. It might be crowded at night, so I ended up going to the emergency room. My voice is dead now. I can get it for free with my credit card, JCB. I want to fix it quickly. This is the one the host recommended. 2.39€. He suddenly said, “I recommend it, so I should take a picture.” He recommended some wine to me earlier. It’s true that wine is cheap. It’s gone down quite a bit. 17° is a bit harsh. Wine is cheap. It might be really cheap. There are wines that cost 1€. This is 2€. There’s no 2€ wine. I want to drink wine, but my throat is terrible . A small one that’s not even 1€ is fine . There’s 11%. This one is fine too. I’ll buy one. This 50% is also amazing. It’s 11%, so I think I can drink it, so I went shopping. It’s heavy. It might be pretty cheap. It’s pretty sturdy compared to the plastic bags at Japanese supermarkets. It’s thick, like two bags at a Japanese supermarket. The price is 4€51 cents . This is 10 cents. I think it’s pretty cheap. I’d like to have a proper meal. 4€51 cents is how much it costs in yen for two bottles. I think it would be around 700 or 800 yen. The water was really cheap. It was about 28 cents. 50 yen. I don’t think that’s true. The math is a bit vague, but I think it was very cheap . As usual, there’s no one here, so I’ll take my time here. It’s really cheap. It wasn’t even 2 euros. I had rice, so I wonder how it tasted. Spring rolls. So , what did you think of this video? I never thought I’d end up in the emergency room, so please make sure to bring cold medicine with you. I accidentally forgot to bring mine. I also forgot my thermometer. I’ll make sure to bring it next time. If you liked this video, please support me by clicking the like button, which will be very encouraging. You can also receive notifications about new videos if you subscribe to the channel. Next time, I’ll continue with my stay in Lisbon. I wasn’t able to do any sightseeing this time, so I did a little sightseeing, so if you’d like, please look forward to the next video. Thank you for watching until the end. See you in the next video.
