Hibiya Line Walking Tour – Part 4: Higashi-ginza to Kayabacho [4K/HDR/Binaural]

Hello, YouTube. Welcome back to the Hibiya Line Walking Tour. This is Part 4 of 7. Today, we’re starting from Higashi-Ginza Station and making a stop in Tsukiji, the old fish market district. Once we get there, let’s take a moment to explore the market. After Tsukiji, the number of tourists drops sharply, and the atmosphere becomes noticeably quieter. We’ll be walking past Hacchobori Station, and today’s final destination is Kayabacho. Alright, are ready? Let’s go!

Join us on Part 4 of the Hibiya Line Walking Tour as we continue our journey through Tokyo on foot. We begin at Higashi-Ginza Station and head toward Tsukiji, the historic area once home to Tokyo’s most famous fish market. The streets here still carry the charm and character of the old market days, with small shops, stalls, and the scent of tradition in the air. We take a moment to wander around and soak in the atmosphere. From there, the pace of the city changes. As we move past Tsukiji, the number of tourists begins to fade, and a calmer, more local side of Tokyo emerges. We pass through Hatchobori, a quieter business district, before arriving at today’s final destination: Kayabacho. If you enjoy quiet city walks, hidden streets, and the contrast between old and new Tokyo, this route has something for you.

  1. Great walk with new discoveries on leg 4. I think one needs to be there in order to truly enjoy the atmosphere of the former fish market. Some stalls seem to serve more beef than fish (11:18). I bet these knife selections are sought after by tourists (10:51) from all over. This temple caught my eye because of its south-asian architectural influence. I am speaking of the Tsukiji Hongan-ji, and its very rich history (17:23). Here too, it would be good to be there. Sad to say, but the trees lining this street need desparate trimmings as well as all the shrubs and green plants. Maybe the district gardener has yet to reach this area. Again, a nice shady area for people to rest, relax or meet someone (35:29). It was 81 F on this day. I hope the wind helps to cool the body. Thanx, stay cool, and take special care in this weather.
