中国で唯一ユーロが使える都市🇨🇳 I S2, EP125

[Laughter] we paid with euro and they give the change back on widget oh panda restaurant [Music] today we are traveling in Chinten a small county in Tjan Province often nicknamed Little Europe in China with an urban population of around 150,000 Chinten is tiny by Chinese standards but don’t let the size fool you this place might just be the most European feeling city in the whole country there are cafes everywhere and believe it or not you can even pay in euros so how did a quiet Chinese town end up with such a strong European vibe let’s walk around and find out [Music] good morning everyone welcome back today I am in Chingang in Changang province it’s a very small county but it has a strong bond to all the European countries especially Spain Italy and France and right now I am somewhere at the entrance of the iconic bridge in Chintan so when you walk out it’s like this chintang is a famous Chaos overseas Chinese hometown there are over 330,000 people who live abroad especially in Spain Italy and France so I heard the story that if you have been to Spain or Italy and uh if you keep an eye on the tiny small cafes on the street it’s very likely that some of them are owned by people [Music] [Music] cafe a coffee shop i guess it’s only run during the night so we are on this most iconic bridge connecting two parts of the city the city isn’t that big all the buildings stood next to the river and there are one two three four four big bridges connecting the two sides and over there there’s a chinken coffee window a big building i guess it’s a cafe or a museum and there are so many cafes in Chin almost in every hotel you can find a small espresso machine and you can get a espresso shot at the end of this iconic bridge here we have reached the Shancha of Chin the buildings here have a lot of western elements look at that and that one when you walk into Chinken the city’s look gives you an instant European vibe the main public buildings like the library the county government and even the big hotels are all in European style you’ll see Roman style columns and the balconies on the apartments are small and charming reminding me of a bit of Italy or Spain [Music] baba do you feel like at home yeah more or less I would say this is the library of chinkets it’s completely in a European style look at those Roman columns and all those sophistic sophisticated decorations on the wall crazy but it’s a very nice building wow this is the most the most European town I’ve ever been to in China it’s crazy there’s like little coffee shops everywhere even the furniture looks like uh central European I would say or southern European you get coffee everywhere and I know that Chinese people are not known for their coffee culture although it’s increasing but even in the hotel reception there is a big porter filter coffee machine that’s so cool and I see people drink sparkling water which is quite rare in China the street front area is very well designed with lots of greenery beautiful flowers and sun shades chairs and tables outside i also want to say that I’m also getting better lately now I can walk so I can walk for some distance but I still can’t walk that far if I walk too far I might get uh some sore on my leg but I’m recovering what I found pretty interesting is that there are a lot of uh small electric cars like this pretty much like a a gor car and you can just wave and stop and get on chinese people are known for loving tea but here in Chinken coffee seems to steal the spotlight there are over 300 coffee shop in this town to put that into a personal perspective when I lived in Loausan Switzerland a city of about 140,000 people it also had a little over 300 cafes so Chinten is pretty close here if people want to talk business they head straight to a coffee shop and when you order coffee the default is always a espresso whether you’re in the hotel lobby or even the Chinese breakfast shop you’re likely to find a whack coffee machine humming in the corner chint is only a very small county but there are so many cafes and in the morning people are uh sitting outside having a espresso cave [Music] we got our breakfast espresso and the Chinese pancake this is They’re interesting combinations that’s a real classic strong espresso um I think it’s the first one of this I had in China so So far so bitter the meatloaf is pretty big pretty solid it has a very crispy surface oh and it’s still very hot [Music] the filling is some dried vegetables some spring onions a little tiny shrimp and pork and I find all the shops in Tinkia are very well furnished especially from the inside so it’s very clean everything is so organized with some small bun size some small plants but for some reason they told me that we can we we’re not allowed to have food uh from the outside if you want to take the seat from outside you can have a drink but not for food i don’t know why so now it’s a season for the bay bberry is a local fruit and like in my region the bay is usually this size but here wow oh yeah okay superch my sugar talking oh panda restaurant fly fly fly fly wow [Music] we paid with euro and they give the change back on WeChat yeah good okay farmer [Music] Yummy is juicy and sweet it has a refreshing sourness like a mixture of raspberry and pomegranate plus some floral aroma it’s a taste that reminds me of summer and when we turned around the corner we came to a street full of yummy stands we just got three different kinds so apparently the bigger the yame is um the more expensive it is this one is more than 120 yum half kilo and the other is about 50 now I see the difference the bigger one the biggest it’s even even sweeter but both are very very uh aromatic there is very nice fragrance i like both i like them more [Laughter] wow so you see in Chinqen pretty much every family has relatives living abroad this little county is home to 380,000 overseas Chinese and they spread across more than 120 countries around the world the majority is in Europe mainly in Italy Spain Germany and France that’s why the western food here is both diverse and high quality the store selling bayerries also offer Spanish salami the pattis here offer French pastries authentic faka and great tiramisu the interesting thing is that Chinten people brought Chinese restaurants to Europe and meanwhile brought all this European flare back home and this quarter really has a very strong European flare especially when it comes to the outside there is another statue of a foreigner here who is this looks like a musician looks like a musician oh wow it’s a German wow i think he’s from Austria and it says “Oh yeah so yeah so it was sponsored by the city of Vienna um on October 11th 2010.” Wow incredible this is and the text is in Chinese and French so let us read the chinten of France so this was uh put by the people from Chinten who live in France they kind of donated it to Chinten and now it’s in the middle of a riverside park what is this i think that’s mannequin piece uh which is in Brussels the original one but it’s so small i think the real one is not much bigger pizza Napoleana do you want to try that of course my first pizza since living in China so many Tinkan people work in Italy and they also come back to open restaurants wow this is nice and uh tonight we’re going to try some Italian food so Flo has been reading that menu for about half an hour and I think he really craves Italian food oh my god in the kitchen they have a real napoli pizza oven okay [Music] wow wow let’s [Music] Don’t I don’t know what [Music] Our pizza is baking now she told me that this oven is 500° inside so it gets baked very fast almost in one or two minutes now I can already see that the cheese is melting and the dough is puffing up wow we got all our three dishes this is a salad and what’s this that’s caronara carabonara and an authentic pizza [Music] [Music] when all the buildings are fully lit up at night it’s very beautiful yeah and there are so many people still walking around and in the restaurants and dancing on the squares yeah and uh now we are walking again over this bridge back home slowly to the to the hotel and that’s all for our today’s video and thanks for watching see you next time bye-bye bye [Music]

Qingtian is a small county nestled in China’s Zhejiang province, with the Qiantang River gracefully splitting the town in two. Despite its modest size, Qingtian is often called one of the most Westernized places in China. Why? Because a large number of Qingtianese have emigrated—especially to Europe. As a result, European influences are everywhere: from stylish coffee shops to Western restaurants on every corner, Qingtian offers a distinctly international vibe. And perhaps most surprisingly, the city even accepts Euros.

  1. I was surprised that it looks so much like the Spanish streets and they even have one of the

  3. I'm 8 hour late but… That suppose to be 10am.. Now already 6pm.. I just woke up.. I got high fever… Done watching

  4. You two make an absolutely lovely combo!
Nevertheless, I got to ask: 1€ or 10元 for one single bayberry is an insane price to pay, isn’t it?

  5. Excellent video Yan! I had no idea euros were accepted anywhere in China. One more city to add to my China itinerary. And Flo, thank you for easing up on the smiling… you did much better; be a man! 😊

  6. They accepted euro only in this particular place or they accept also in other places in this town? Everywhere else in China it would be illegal, especially by cash.

  7. Hello Yan. So good to see your leg getting better and better. Flo, good work with your Vao Bao! You deserve all the pizza you can eat. Qing Tian is amazing. Thank you for your beautiful work. Rosália.

  8. Is it asking too much? I would love to see a video of your wedding. I'm sure you both looked wonderful. Thank you. I love your videos. We spend more than a month in China but it has just opened for tourists (way back in the late 1980's) and I must admit that it was very difficult to manage. So it's a special treat to be able to see China thanks to your videos. I'm so glad your foot is doing better. Have a good weekend. ♥♥♥

  9. Italy and Spain have two of the easiest to learn languages. France has one of the prettiest languages to hear. China made a huge contribution to Italian food with noodles. Love the videos with Flo; you are so good together.

  10. Hi yan, I don't know if you went there because of my comment on the taishan video. But I was very surprised and caught of guard that I saw the bridge in the first frames. Kind of happy and giving me, in German we say, "Fernweh". I miss it a lot to be honest and thank for especially this video, it made my day. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland an dich und flo. ✌️

  11. Absolutely fascinating, so glad that you chose to show us this video highlighting the eclectic taste & style of this unique town. We have China Towns all around the world, so it is only fitting there is a little piece of Europe in China. Coffee is the best way to start you day no, correction – the only way to start your day.
We used to have an A-frame sigh outside our local eatery that said 'Today's weather forecast, 100% chance of Coffee'

  12. Love your videos but the music as background while you did voice overs made this one so difficult to watch I had to stop.

  13. The Spanish salami shown is actually from Catalonia and called "Fuet"…I know some Qiantian businesspeople are now manufacturing it locally near Qingtian😂

  14. What an interesting town! I had never heard of it when I was in China and I will surely visit it one day!

  15. Hi Ms Yan
    Great Video as always 🙌🙌

I was wondering if u could recommend 1 or 2 top Univ or college major in Games design ,etc in Zhejiang province. I follow your IG also but can't seems to message directly.

    Thank you Ms.Yan..
    Best regards to Flo too..
    Happy travelling u 2 💯💯

  16. It's good to see you can walk again. It means more videos and journey to coming up. Yayyyy 🙂

  17. Did you know the pizza that we know today originated from East South America, it was a poor man food, it was named after the Roman Empire era of breaking bread called pizza, flat bread, An Italian Seaman took it to North America, and it was here it became very popular in the Italian Town of New York close to the 5 fingers roads

  18. Qiangtian is my hometown. Its been decades that I haven't been back. It has changed a lot.

  19. An homage to Bonapart certainly wasn't on my bingo card. I've learned so much about China thanks to your videos. Im glad I found them.
