Luxury in the Sky – Prince Gallery Tokyo Hotel Review & Tour
so today we’re going to talk about the Prince Gallery Luxury Collection Hotel in Tokyo Japan and that’s where we were yes it just seems like a lot to say so it’s a Marriott hotel it’s a Marriott hotel it’s a luxury collection it’s a nice hotel we just want to give you some information on it what we thought of it and maybe if you were thinking about going there it’ll help you make your decision we’re going to break it into six categories for you and rate them out of 10 so we have the hotel itself the rooms the staff the amenities the food and the location so we’ll we’ll give you our ratings and then our overall at the very end let’s start with just like the general feel of the hotel i loved it i thought it was like like its title luxury it was on the 37th floor 36th floor 36th floor so you got these beautiful views like as soon as you walk in there’s just like windows surrounding which was lovely yeah i thought the views were just as good as the Tokyo Tower so it’s pretty cool that the hotel had views just as good as the Tokyo Tower i’d call it a modern style the hotel everything was sleek kind of minimalist in a sense I guess yeah okay um the lobby so you have to take an elevator up to the 36th floor yes that’s it i don’t know can’t remember but so you take a elevator up and then the lobby’s on the 36th floor so it’s kind of strange if you take a car service or drive in or whatever the entrance to like the hotel technically is in a parking garage so it feels a little weird it seems a little strange you pull up into this parking garage like is this it you walk in you go to the elevator you go up to the 36th floor okay so in order to get to the lobby you actually have to go up to the 36th floor which is kind of cool all the views were great however it’s kind of annoying so in order to get up to the lobby you have to take one elevator and then in order to get to a room you have to take another elevator back down because the rooms are actually below the lobby so it makes for a really great area for breakfast and everything because you’re having these amazing views as well as the bar and then you go down for your room and the rooms still have really nice views as well it’s just not quite as high but it feels pretty much like the same so whenever you want to get from your room to the outside you have to go up through the lobby and then back down an elevator so that was the only kind of criticism I actually had of this hotel so we would rate the hotel just in general like the hotel itself without taking anything else into consideration an eight out of 10 all right let’s get into the staff okay the staff I thought was awesome everyone was super super friendly super helpful everyone bows to you every chance they get they do that everywhere in Japan though but like just it seemed extra here and every time you walked by people are saying hello how are you like just very friendly very nice very helpful so I I thought the staff was as good as it gets above and beyond and like we did have one little issue at breakfast right away like the manager came over the server came over apologized we’re like “It’s fine it’s totally fine.” And they brought us like a complimentary um special juice and the juice was really good it was like a special I don’t even clementine mango juice is really good yeah i don’t even remember what it was but I just remember it being super delicious and then I remember looking the next day cuz I wanted to get it and I think it was $15 per just for like a little thing of juice yeah so I was like “Well I’m not getting that again.” But it was very nice of them to bring that over and it was just because our breakfast would took a little longer than we had expected so like they were just saying like “Sorry for that.” So it was pretty sweet so overall we’d rate the staff at this hotel a 10 out of 10 for sure so now we’re going to talk about the rooms we felt that they were spacious the bathroom was really big um you loved the toilet took a little while to get used to the toilet but once I got used to it I did enjoy it the products they give you like they give you above and beyond just like your typical shampoo and conditioner there was toothbrushes um combs extra product that’s like face wash and lotion like high-end stuff so that was really great the views were amazing you’re up so high that just morning and night it’s spectacular my favorite part was the view I thought the view was awesome and also I really liked how they had the automatic total blackout blinds so it was like pitch black even in the middle of the day except for the stupid thermostat i could not turn it off yeah but she’s crazy like just a tiny little light will drive her nuts even though like everything else is pitch black so that didn’t bother me but it definitely bothered her my eyes don’t shut properly when I’m sleeping because I can like always spot it you just like sense it you just know that it’s there so it pisses you off but true yeah but yeah room was great super nice clean luxurious they give you pajamas and robes which is cool they’re actually super cute because you like the traditional Japanese robe smart TV yeah we didn’t wear the um robes or the pajamas to bed but we wore the robes when we went to the pool and everything which is nice the bed was really comfy i liked it i felt like it was bigger than a king i don’t know if I’m going crazy but I felt like it was like two queens pushed together oh right that is what it was it was two queens pushed together okay so I’m not making this up yeah i told you well you said it was bigger than a king yeah and it is bigger but it was two queens so it wasn’t it technically was two beds one big comforter so you’re still in the same bed yeah like we thought it was one bed then we talked about that and my sister brought that up so then we checked and yeah it’s two queens it’s great you had the little touch screen beside the bed which had all of your controls for all the lights for your blinds which is nice the only other thing we did not like is that the bathroom light was automatic you could not turn that on or off and in the middle of the night when one person goes to the bathroom like you are going to wake the other person yeah it was very bright and the bathroom it was like a glass wall so y it was just totally see-through um fog up so you can’t see into the bathroom but it was clear yeah you’d still see the light coming through either way so overall we rate the rooms a 9 out of 10 for like a traditional just regular room not a suite or anything and I was quite impressed yeah me too so now we’re going to get into the amenities a little bit we’re going to talk about the gym the pool other things that the hotel has to offer the gym I thought was pretty decent it was cool because it was up on the 33rd floor or something like that so really cool views which I enjoy when you’re working out you kind of want something to look at to take your mind off your workout and so to be able to look at the city was awesome not too big of a gym kind of small like it was fine nothing special had all the equipment you need but yeah nothing like too over the top they did have fruit and free bottled water so I would just go for that yeah I would get my little tiny workout in and you would uh Well you did your workout too you did your workout too through my mouth as I chewed the free fruit yeah there you go and then it was attached to the pool and there’s like a little hot tub the pool looked great it was like a fulls size lap pool um again you can see those great views the hot tub was like not a hot tub it was like a warm tub which at first I was like this is not great but you can actually stay in it for longer so at the end of it I liked it very shallow so we had to like sit on our bums on the floor of it and we were still not fully covered yeah it was cool cuz you had a great view and I did actually like that it was warm and not super hot but it was kind of strange cuz it was so shallow and pretty small and the thing I like about Japan is everyone’s so clean and they make you shower before you get in like they walked us to the shower and they’re like “You shower now.” And we’re like “Okay.” Yeah there’s a little shower right by the hot tub so so as much as it’s kind of like gh I don’t want to but you know everyone’s doing that exactly and I love that yeah one of the big perks of this hotel was that they offer a complimentary saki tasting and I didn’t think I liked saki but I now do the guy was great it was super fun the saki was really delicious actually they were very accommodating in the fact that we were late for it but and probably half an hour late and they still made sure that we could come and enjoy it and it’s up in the restaurant area where there’s a little bar off to the side so there’s a great view of the city and the saki was really really good i usually don’t like saki all that much but it was they could give you a lesson on it too so they said like this one has added alcohol this one’s just rice this one can’t even remember now because I was exhausted but the saki was hitting nicely so yeah yeah like this one’s sweet because of this this one’s a little more bitter and you know you learn a little bit about the guy was really nice like the second you had a sip of your water they refilled it uh I actually Yeah I learned about saki that night i can’t remember right now but I was going to say what did you learn i learned that I like saki yeah there we go okay we look a little rough because we just got off a plane but we learned about saki and how it’s made with rice and water and then sometimes they add alcohol to it yeah but it’s weird cuz I was like you add alcohol does that change the alcohol content and you said it didn’t so it just kind of changes the flavor profile I guess but I’ve maybe had six sips and I can feel it yeah I think that’s cuz you haven’t eaten enough today we flew all day it’s technically what like 4:30 in the morning our time true but the view is beautiful yeah if you could see out here we’ll have to show them after but like the city here is insane like this is really nice so so far we like the hotel everyone’s been extremely welcoming and nice yeah everyone’s so nice fuji what’s that oh yeah our saki somalier he was very friendly very nice he gave us a little more than one we said we’d like so we got two of this but it’s crazy cuz there’s like barely any in here and yet Yeah i feel like I could feel it a little bit too we also did a tea ceremony i think it was 40 Canadian per person and they set you up again same thing on that top floor where you’re overlooking the city was five or yeah five of us in our group that did it and they teach you how to make like traditional matcha how to prepare it how you’re supposed to set up your tea room the lady was wonderful she was really funny and then there was also a translator in it so I don’t know if she was actually funny but um the things that she would say through the translator were funny she was making fun of Matt and I when we were having a competition if we could like whisk it more to get the the good foam on top which I won no she said I did i know yeah but she was like “Okay you two.” Okay good so it was a great experience i would recommend that too overall we rate the amenities at this hotel a seven out of 10 there wasn’t a ton um because it was kind of like a smaller hotel but what there was was great yeah I thought the amenities were good but it wasn’t anything like spectacular so like a seven to me is a good rating but yeah nothing too special okay the food matt loves a free breakfast and since we um are status with luxury collection we got free breakfast so what you do is you order one item off the menu and so if you order like the eggs benedict they just give you one if they give you an omelette they give you like a tiny little omelette and then on top of that you get to hit the buffet and this buffet was incredible the buffet to me was the best meal of the entire trip which might sound a little strange but this buffet had pretty much anything you could ask for and actually a lot of things that I would not normally ask for in a breakfast buffet like cod and salmon and soup just like weird things for breakfast soup rice like your traditional Japanese foods yeah so it made sense for Japan but like as a westerner western now that you know what that is um it seemed a little strange but I actually ended up having fish for breakfast a lot of the days and it tasted really good all very fresh tons of fruit dragon fruit and cantaloupe and watermelon beautiful it wasn’t just like they threw it out like they took pride in cutting the berries and the dragon fruit yeah all the presentation was very well done and it literally had everything you could ask for and the view was fantastic absolutely beautiful i could have sat there for hours just eating and taking in the views service was great however a little slow to get your coffees every morning it took a bit of time so besides that it was wonderful everyone was very friendly so we also ordered room service our first night where I got a burger and a chamomile tea and then $80 Canadian later I got my burger and my tea because they give you an $18 service charge $18 just for your one little cup of tea which was a little bit mind-blowing and I think the burger was $50 yeah so it was it was good i enjoyed it would I get it again probably because I was tired and hungry but was it worth it probably not no at the time it was worth it because we were starving and it was 11 at night and we hadn’t eaten for a while and we just gotten to Tokyo so it was much needed but definitely too expensive yeah and the burger for a $50 burger I was expecting like an amazing burger but it was just a decent burger and they put ham on all their burgers in Japan i guess that’s what they call bacon oh yeah okay that makes sense so yeah it’s like back bacon yep and then there was the bar at this hotel and the bar was beautiful like it just the decor of it super modern super sleek and then again that incredible view so if you even just want to go to this hotel to hit the bar I would recommend it yeah if I wasn’t staying at the hotel but was close by I would just go up there for a drink every night or instead of going to Tokyo Tower go up there it’ll be quicker and easier to get up there and have a drink and take in the views so overall we’d rate the food at this hotel an eight out of 10 okay so now we’re going to talk about the location which it’s kind of hard for me to talk about the location because I just don’t know Tokyo all that well agree so it’s kind of hard to say if it’s better than other places or not but for what we were doing in Tokyo I thought it worked perfectly it was a little quieter area so it’s kind of nice to get away from the hustle and bustle it was close to the train station so you could get everywhere quickly if you needed to like a five-minute walk to the train station it was also close to the river it was close to what was that little area where we went and got ramen and everything manito or Mento mento something like that so close to some area that has lots of food and drinks and karaoke and bars and restaurants and stuff so still walkable to stuff like that and yeah I thought the location overall was really good i agree i give location an eight out of 10 we liked the Ginsa area a bit more just because it seemed a little bit more upscale however we didn’t stay there so I don’t fully know what it was like so we’re Marriott members so we always stay at Marriott Hotel so we look for Marriott hotels everywhere we go did you know it’s actually Marriott okay we’re Marriott members how do you know that mind-blowing because my friend who works there says it’s Marriott okay so we’re Marriott members and so that we’re always looking for Marriott that just sounds weird marriott i know i’m just so used to Marriott and did you know Mila is actually You think it’s Mle fridge it’s a Mila call them because I I did one day to find out side note for you lessons by Matt and Caitlyn all right the cost so it’s anywhere from 700 to 1,200 US per night at this hotel so definitely not cheap um so the overall value I thought I I was happy with what we got i didn’t I wasn’t upset about anything i wasn’t like “Oh this was a waste of money.” However that is pricey yeah definitely expensive but I thought it was worth the money i agree yeah it was nice it was clean it was new super friendly good food good location i don’t think you could ask for too much more i would stay there again me too so overall with all of our ratings divided by six because of the six categories it’s an 8.3 for this hotel which is the Marriott Luxury Collection Prince Gallery Tokyo Hotel
