The Village You’re About to See Is Real | Walking Tour in Eguisheim 🇫🇷
In this video Hello friends! A week has passed, and I’m happy to see you again. Just a reminder — you can turn on subtitles in your native language. Today I’m in France, and I’d love to take you on a walk through the incredible Alsace region — to the village of Eguisheim. We’re starting from the center, at the historic fountain where locals have drawn water for centuries. This fountain of Saint Leo is named in honor of Pope Leo IX, who was born in this village. And this is the stone Chapel of Saint Leo. According to legend, it was built on the very spot where the house stood in which the Pope was born. Let’s quietly peek inside and admire the frescoes and stained glass windows. The streets of Eguisheim wind in concentric circles, making you feel as if you’re walking inside an ancient, magical spiral. And indeed, if you look at the map, you’ll see a small, perfectly round village. Eguisheim is often called one of the most beautiful villages in France — and I believe it’s for good reason. Please leave a like – I truly appreciate it. Thank you! The houses here remind me of cartoons: colorful facades, wooden beams, and windows overflowing with flowers. The old-world charm of the houses is truly impressive. In Alsace, storks are a symbol of the region. You can see their images everywhere — on souvenirs, building facades, and even as signs or decorations. And here is the map where you can see the shape of the village. Look ahead – doesn’t it look like a set from a children’s movie? The birdsong is so clear and vibrant, it almost drowns out the voices of the tourists. Up on the rooftops, there are many nests with storks. They fly, raise their young, and add even more to the feeling of a magical fairytale. Each house has a wooden framework — these are the so-called half-timbered buildings. The spaces between the beams are filled with clay or stone. This gives the structures their strength and is one of the reasons they have been so beautifully preserved. I see that many of the houses here offer rooms for rent, so it’s absolutely possible to stay in this fairytale for real. And here, my friends, is a boutique of authentic Alsatian cheese. Just look at that cheese! Now, virtually transport yourself to this cozy terrace and imagine sitting with a glass of French wine next to a plate of sliced cheese. And from this terrace, you can also watch a stork’s nest. Simply incredible beauty. I’m so impressed by how lovingly these houses have been preserved and decorated. I’m overwhelmed with emotion – and I truly hope you can feel it too. Please don’t forget to like and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. There’s a lot of exciting content coming up! What cheerful little bunnies welcome guests at the boutique! How could you possibly resist stepping inside and picking up some handcrafted treats? In Eguisheim, everything is covered in flowers during spring and summer. And this unique shop – La Boutique du Champignon – is a mushroom boutique. Here, you can buy dried mushrooms, truffle oils, pastes, sauces, and pâtés. In addition to gourmet products, the shop also offers decorative items with mushroom-themed designs. How many people from different eras have walked along this cobbled path? It’s hard to even imagine. Since we started our walk, a stork has flown over us three times already. The locals say it’s a good sign. It’s a sign of good luck and positive energy, as well as peace and family well-being. Eguisheim is a true gem for wine lovers. It is home to over 30 wineries, many of which are family-run businesses with centuries of history. Most wineries in Eguisheim are open to visitors and offer tastings without the need for a reservation. It’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in Alsatian wine culture, where every sip tells its own story. The courtyard of one of the most renowned wineries looks so authentic. Wooden barrels and a grape press are essential features of every winemaking estate. This is another family-run winery that has been operated by the same family for nearly 300 years. Thank you for walking with me through this incredible village. I’ll be truly happy if I managed to share with you the atmosphere of peace, the feeling of time slowing down, and the scent of stone, old wine cellars, and flowers. Local vintage scooter enthusiasts added a bit of noise to the quiet life of Eguisheim. Be sure to leave a comment and share your impressions with friends on social media. I’d be happy to see your engagement!
