Japan Walking Tour

Walking through Hamarikyu Gardens, the garden of the Tokugawa Shogun family Current location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo I’m heading to Hamarikyu in Chuo Ward, Tokyo. You can see the stone wall along Hamarikyu. Is it from the Edo period? Please subscribe to the channel. We need everyone’s help to run it. I walked from Zojoji Temple, but it was quite a distance. Hamarikyu has a long history as the detached palace of the Tokugawa shogunate. After the Meiji period, it came under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Household Ministry. Almost all historical buildings were destroyed in the air raids. Restoration work has been underway since the park was opened to the public as a metropolitan park after the war. I have arrived. The trees were also burnt by air raids, and it was apparently occupied by the occupation forces after the war, so there are likely to be few items from the Edo period. These trees were probably grown after the park was turned into a park after the war. During the Edo period, various buildings were probably built here. In terms of area, it is approximately 25 hectares, which is the size of 5.3 Tokyo Domes. About half of Tokyo Disneyland. We finally arrived at the pond. The pond here is seawater. Naturally, sea fish live here. It is said that it was originally a low-swampy area near an inlet, overgrown with reeds. We are reclaiming that space. Huge brown algae floating around. dirty. The pond at Koishikawa Korakuen was also cleaned properly. Should I leave this one alone? You can see the Tower Man Group under construction towards Harumi in the background. The pond is dirty. It’s a paid garden, and the main feature is the view of the pond, so I hope it’s properly maintained. There is less algae here. I wonder if the flow has an effect as well. It seems that the shogun used to go boating in this pond during the Edo period. Was it deeper in the past, or is it different now? Mt.Fujimi. In the past, Mt. Fuji could be seen from here, as the name suggests. There are no buildings, only gardens. Since Japan makes money from inbound tourism, I would like to see more historical buildings restored. Cherry blossoms with nice branches. Full of flowers. The building on the other side is towards Takeshiba. On the other side of the canal is Kachidoki and Harumi. It also runs through a canal, but it is generally around the mouth of the Sumida River. Everyone is taking a relaxing break. It’s a water gate. This area must be beautiful when the grass is green. there were. This is the general’s pier that I saw in Buratamori. It is said that people took a boat directly from Edo Castle to get here. The stone walls are collapsing due to aging. Now, which is the exit? What kind of tree is this? There was an unusual building. I wonder if it’s old. Is there a field of rape blossoms in the garden? That’s rare. This one is also in full bloom. Comparison between skyscrapers and rapeseed fields Somehow, I enjoyed it. I feel like I got my money’s worth. I reached the exit. That’s a nice pine tree. It’s about 300 years old. When you think of Tokugawa, you think of pine trees. It has survived the war damage and has survived to the present day. Okidomon The remaining stone walls. There was a gate above this. The fact that it looks a little burnt is probably a sign of an air raid. That’s all for today. Thank you for watching. If you like it, please subscribe and like the channel. Finally, I’ll have a drink at Yakitori Hidaka in Kanda before heading home.
