Vol.145 [SUB/4K]

Good morning! This is E-Ma. We checked out of the hotel and set off for our last day of sightseeing (´ー`). We departed in the light rain (._.). This is the third part of our Kyushu trip, a three-day, two-night trip to Fukuoka, and the start of the third day! This is the last part of our spring Kyushu trip. The first part was a trip to Beppu, and the second part was a trip to Kitakyushu. Both were fun trips, so please check them out! We left the hotel and drove for about an hour and a half. We are now heading to a popular tourist spot in Fukuoka. There was a traffic jam in one place, so it took longer than expected (´・ω・). There are many parking lots nearby, but we arrived at the closest parking lot to the entrance of our destination. Dazaifu Tenmangu, the god of learning. “Sacred cow statue.” It is said that if you stroke its head, you will be granted wisdom. Dazaifu Tenmangu is the head shrine of the Tenmangu shrines, which number about 12,000 nationwide. It is built on the grave of Sugawara Michizane, the deity worshipped there. It is said to bring good luck in learning, culture and the arts, and protection from evil. There are three red drum bridges in front of the main hall. They are said to represent the past, present, and future from the entrance. Cross the first one without looking back, the second one without stopping, and the third one without tripping. It is said that it is better to go around the bridge on your way back. Go through the beautiful vermilion “Romon” gate to reach the main hall. The first major renovation in 124 years has been carried out since May 2023 and will take about three years. During the renovation work, a temporary hall has been built in front of the main hall. Although it is a temporary hall, plants and trees are planted on the roof, which is indescribably wonderful (*’▽’). I will pray. Good luck Uguisu Fortune 500 yen. Uguisu is a bird that serves Tenjin-sama and is said to be a bird that lies about misfortune and brings good fortune. It was “good luck” (´ー`). On the way back to the entrance, there was a shop. “Umegae Mochi”. It is a specialty of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, so there are many shops on the approach. I will buy it at this shop. Umegae Mochi 150 yen. It was freshly baked, so it was piping hot (^▽^;). The mochi had just the right amount of sweet bean paste inside. Now, let’s take a look at the shops along the approach to the shrine. There are many shops that serve Umegae-mochi. Even on a weekday when the weather is bad, there are so many tourists (゚Д゚). I imagine it would be even more crowded on weekends and during exam season (;´・ω・). Shops with queues are always intriguing (^▽^;). Once we left the approach to the shrine, we found Dazaifu Station. We also decided to go on a food tour (*’▽’). First up was Yamaya Base Dazaifu, a mentaiko French bread specialty shop run by Yamaya, which is famous for its mentaiko roe. Mentaiko French bread cost 500 yen. It was smaller than I expected. The mentaiko had a strong buttery flavor and was very delicious. The bread was crispy on the outside and moist inside, and it was the most delicious mentaiko French bread I’ve ever eaten! Next is Fukutaro, with its eye-catching “me” character. This shop is famous for its mentaiko rice crackers, “Menbei.” I came here to eat the grilled rice balls they serve in front of the store. Mentaiko grilled rice balls are 350 yen, and shiso + mentaiko toppings are 50 yen. They were delicious with plenty of mentaiko (*’▽’). I want to eat something sweet (´ー`). Fukuoka’s brand strawberry, “Amaou.” As a strawberry lover, I have to try them (´艸`*). Kingberry is 500 yen. It contains one fresh strawberry and plenty of strawberry jelly. The inside is cheesecake, which goes perfectly with the strawberry (*’▽’). I returned to the parking lot. The approach to the large shrine is impressive and there are many delicious-looking shops (*´ω`*). I want to try a lot of things, but it’s a shame that I get full so quickly (;´・ω・). I envy people who can walk around and eat a lot (._.). Now, let’s head to the last tourist spot. The Dazaifu Government Office governed Kyushu and played the role of the western capital from the Nara period to the Heian period. The site is now a historic park. The place where the three stone monuments stand is the “main hall ruins.” About 100 cherry trees are planted in the large grounds. It is also a famous cherry blossom spot. It is the season when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. At the end of my trip, I was able to see a wonderful view (*’▽’). This shrine is about a 5-minute walk from the “Dazaifu Government Office Ruins. ” A flag with the current era name “Reiwa” is fluttering in the wind. The era name “Reiwa” is quoted from a passage in the Manyoshu. The residence of the governor of Dazaifu, where the poetry gathering “Plum Blossom Banquet” where this passage was recited, was held, was located around here. It has become a tourist spot as a place associated with “Reiwa.” I will enjoy the cherry blossoms a little more before heading to the airport. I will return the car at “Mitsubishi Rent-a-Car” near the airport. There is still time before the flight departs. I will eat ramen ヽ(^o^)丿. There are so many restaurants that I can’t decide where to go (^_^;). I looked around and decided to go to the restaurant at the very back. There are a lot of signs. Seafood Tonkotsu Ramen 920 yen. Tonkotsu Ramen 900 yen. Seafood has medium-thin noodles. Tonkotsu has thin noodles. Both were delicious and were the perfect way to end the trip (´ー`). I was supposed to end the trip with ramen, but… I’ll try the “chicken skin” that I couldn’t eat at the food stall (^_^;). Even bears eat it (´艸`*). Guru Guru Chicken Skin 1 skewer 170 yen. Crispy skin and delicious (≧▽≦). Now I can go home with no regrets (´ー`). I’m afraid to get on the scale after eating all the delicious food on my trip to Fukuoka (;゚Д゚). This is the Kyushu Trip Trilogy. Did you enjoy each of the trips to Beppu, Kitakyushu, and Fukuoka? I hope this video will be of some use to you.
