Fukushima (福島) – Mt. Azuma-Kofuji Crater (吾妻小富士火口)

We are in Fukushima Prefecture and um down below is the Jodo Dyra Visitor Center. There’s a marsh land down below. There’s some hiking and whatnot. This is the Azuma mountain range and um we just climbed up to the top of uh Azumi Kofu Azuma Kofuji and uh Kofuji means little Fuji. And uh you can see here is a crater. It’s a dormant volcano down below. Let me zoom out a little bit. All right. And uh you can hike walk around the rim. Clockwise they say is the recommended way. And you can have uh different vantage points not just of the crater itself but of the surrounding area. And so Azuma Kofuji uh Kako Kako is uh means crater in Japanese. So we’re going to walk around and see what’s all around here. And uh we’re going to walk around this way. and come around. So that’s what we’re going to do. Azuma Kofuji in Fukushima.

We started at the Jododaira Visitor Center (浄土平ビジターセンター) and took a short but steep climb up to the top of Mt. Azuma-Kofuji (吾妻小富士), where we then walked around the circumference of the modest-sized crater. Mt. Azuma-Kofuji is located near Tsuchiyu Onsenmachi (土湯温泉町) in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
