日本、港区の増上寺と芝公園を歩きました。東京タワーの影が静かに伸びる石畳を踏みしめ、かつて海だったという地形の起伏に迷いながら、風に揺れる木々の音、誰かの読経、苔むした地蔵と眠るような芝生の光景を辿り、都市の輪郭がぼやけていく中で、言葉にならない懐かしさと静寂に、ふと立ち止まる瞬間がありました。
午前十時。浜松町の駅を降りた瞬間、あの街の湿った空気が肌にまとわりつく。休日のはずなのに、歩く人の速度が速い。そんな喧騒を後にして、私は増上寺へ向かった。導線はよくわからない。地図を見ても、そこにあるのは線であって空気ではない。だから私は、ただ足音だけを頼りに、石畳へと踏み出した。
東京タワーが見える。どこからでも見える。だがそれが“目印”になるとは限らない。背後からにじり寄るように現れるその姿は、まるで都市の幻影のようだった。増上寺の境内では、僧たちの声が風にまぎれて聞こえてきた。白い幕の奥から届くその声は、どこか祈りというより、記憶の音に近い。
境内の地蔵群に目を奪われる。造形が新しい。けれどその周囲には、落ち葉と埃と、ほんの少しの無関心が積もっている。そんな場所を過ぎた先、湧き出る水の音がした。崖のような地形、湧水の跡、かすかな水脈。それらがかつてここが海であったことを語りかけてくる。だが何よりも雄弁なのは、足元に広がる“静けさ”だった。
芝公園に着く。人が寝転んでいる。冬枯れの芝の上で、背中から空を見ている。誰もが、何かを待っているようだった。その「何か」が何かは、誰にもわからない。でも、ここでは“待つこと”さえ風景の一部になる。風も、陽射しも、そして誰かの独り言も。
この映像は、都市の片隅で“時間を忘れる場所”を歩く記録です。街の中心にあって、なぜか静寂が棲みついている。そんな逆説の風景が、あなたの中に眠る東京のイメージを、そっと書き換えるかもしれません。
