Hi everyone! I’m Nagi, and I traveled solo around the world in business class. In this video, I’ll share the route, duration, and actual cost of my round-the-world trip in business class. Later in the video, I’ll also talk about what I’ve been doing for work after the trip. So, be sure to watch until the end if you’re curious about RTW travel or wondering about life afterward 🙂 I’m a 31-year-old woman from the Kansai region of Japan. After graduating from university, I worked at a web marketing company in Tokyo for a few years. I quit my job at 29 and at 30, I started my round-the-world journey. I flew westward traveling through Asia → Europe → North America using a OneWorld 3-continent business class RTW ticket. The ticket included 13 business class flights and cost about ¥830,000 (~$5,700) including taxes and fuel surcharges. While staying in Central America, I suddenly felt like going to South America too— so I added extra legs using low-cost carriers and economy flights. In total, I visited 29 countries. The trip lasted about one year, including a 1.5-month return to Japan. My luggage was a carry-on suitcase and a backpack. I mostly stayed in airbnbs, with some hostels and homestays— so it was more of a “live like a local” style of travel. Sorry, no luxury hotels in this channel 😂 But I do love food, and I sometimes treated myself to nice restaurants, so I plan to introduce great spots from around the world! I didn’t set a fixed budget before I left, but the total cost including airfare, daily expenses, and returning to Japan was around ¥4.5 million (~$31,000). I tracked spending by country, so I may share a detailed breakdown in another video! I wish I could say, “It was my lifelong dream to travel the world!” ✨ But honestly, the reason was… kind of random 😅 I had time and money saved up after quitting my job. Initially, I was planning to do a working holiday in Canada and had even received my visa approval letter. The letter had a one-year validity, so I thought: “Wouldn’t it be a waste to start working right away after quitting?” “I’ve got a year—why not visit a few favorite countries on the way?” Around that time, a friend told me about RTW tickets, and I happened to receive some unexpected income— just enough to buy a business class RTW ticket. So I thought, “You only live once… might as well try business class!” I bought the ticket three weeks before departure. But since I had no plan and made the decision on impulse, I ended up changing the route four times 😂 ※ Each change cost me $125 + additional fees Now, I’m doing a working holiday—not in Canada, but in another country— working full remote as a freelancer. Thanks to my previous job experience, I found a stable client within a month. If you’re worried about your career after a long trip— don’t be. It’s more doable than you think. For example, people with skills like engineering, web marketing, hairdressing, or nursing usually find new work right after returning. Others go straight into overseas jobs using their sales experience, or become freelancers by sharing their journey on YouTube or social media and learning video editing along the way. I was anxious at first too, but once you take the first step, things start to fall into place. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just start moving!
