Yamato Town, Kamimashiki District Description of Unoko Falls Unoko Falls is a waterfall on the Sasahara River, a tributary of the Midori River. Located just before the confluence with Midori River, this two-tiered waterfall is the second tallest of the many waterfalls in Yamato Town, Kamimashiki District, after Goroga Falls. The upper waterfall is called “Taka Falls,” and the lower waterfall is called “Unoko Falls.” Some people call the two falls together the “Phantom Waterfall.” Taka Falls has a drop of about 20m, and Unoko Falls is a stunning straight waterfall with a drop of about 40m. The surrounding area is a scenic spot called Ryokusenkyo where you can see many waterfalls. However, to get here you will need to be prepared to walk for a long time on difficult roads and mountain paths. It is truly a place worthy of being called a hidden place. I recommend a high-height light vehicle or two-wheeled vehicle. Let’s take off! Today, I am visiting the Sasahara River, a tributary of the Midori River, in Yamato Town, Kamimashiki District.
