CYPRUS FOOD TOUR – Stolen LAMB & Insane Kontosouvli in Nicosia!

*Join me on an epic food tour through Nicosia, Cyprus* — from sizzling street eats to centuries-old lamb traditions. We’re hitting some of the city’s most iconic spots for smoky kontosouvli, underground-roasted kleftiko, and comforting local favorites.

*Piatsa Gourounaki Express*
We’re back at _Piatsa Gourounaki Express_ in Nicosia — and this time, the place is absolutely packed! The kitchen is firing on all cylinders, delivering some seriously mouthwatering dishes. I go for the “pantsetaki” — incredibly juicy bacon slices served with a variety of dips and fresh sides. This is Greek-Cypriot street food comfort at its finest, and the energy of the place makes it even better.
*To Kontosouvli (Το Κοντοσούβλι)*
Next up is a true local gem — _To Kontosouvli_ . This iconic spot is famous for its legendary kontosouvli, massive skewers of marinated pork slow-roasted over charcoal. With decades of tradition behind them, the old chef here knows exactly how to make the meat tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. With a crowd of regulars and a truly Cypriot vibe, this place becomes an essential food stop in Nicosia.
*Ofto Kleftiko Kyriakos (Κυριάκος Οφτό Κλέφτικο)*
Time for one of the most legendary dishes in Cyprus — _Kleftiko_ , or “Stolen Lamb”. This dish dates back centuries, originally made by shepherds who cooked lamb underground to avoid being seen. At _Ofto Kleftiko Kyriakos_ , the lamb is now slow-baked in traditional sealed ovens, but the flavor is still true historic. Tender, juicy, and falling off the bone — this is Cyprus on a plate.
*Το Μαγειρείο της Προδρόμου*
We wrap up the tour at _Prodromou Kitchen_ , a humble local eatery serving daily home-cooked meals to the people of Nicosia. It’s all about honest flavors and hearty portions here — I dig into a rich and comforting plate of moussaka, the perfect ending to a long day of eating and exploring.

  3. Man i live 2 minutes from the last restaurant and its one of my favourites. Cross the restaurant is a military campus and in 2001 i was serving there and i remember one morning crossing the road so i could get some cigarettes from the kiosk and thats were i saw on tv the attack on the twin towers. Close to that restaurant there is also a bakery that makes delicious food. I dont know if u tried that

  4. I heard the caper leaves are delicious but I’ve never seen the whole flower cooked like that. Are you suppose to eat the stems?
