Marunouchi Line Walking Tour – Part 3: Higashi-koenji to Nishi-shinjuku

Today, we’re picking up where we left off in the last video — Higashi-koenji Station. We’ll continue our walk along Ome-kaido Avenue, which runs right above the Marunouchi Line, passing through Shin-Nakano and Nakano-sakaue. Then we’ll head into the Shinjuku area, with our final stop at Nishi-Shinjuku Station.

  1. The Nishi Station was easy because I was expecting it to be near the Tokyo Med Center. Leg 3 was on a windy day and relatively comfortable to walk for you, I surmise; sunny but not brutally hot yet. With all the most residential buildings lining the main thorough-way with interesting architecture and corporate headquarters like the now iconic Shinjuku buildings. Today I noticed a lot of telephone booths! 47:08 caught my eye. An entrance or atrium of the adjoining building, I wondered. Never fails, pigeons here and there always ready for a morsel to drop by a generous benefactor. Trees lining the streets and public parks are both good to see in a metro area. Thanx and until the next time, stay cool and take care.

  2. Love the videos that follow the train lines, it's so interesting seeing how neighbourhoods connect together along those lines. I was curious if you had any showa era shopping streets around Tokyo you really wanted to film? Perhaps that could become a future series.
