Jingoro ramen maintains this traditional style while adding its own unique twist. In order to enjoy the taste of Jingoro ramen at home, the store also sells souvenir ramen sets that include fresh noodles, straight soup, and ingredients. Jingoro ramen was delicious. It’s so delicious that you won’t get tired of eating it every day. I’ll take a walk around town. I’d like to go and eat Hida Takayama’s “midarashi dango”. Hida Takayama’s “midarashi dango” is a local gourmet dish characterized by a savory soy sauce-based flavor, unlike the typical sweet “mitarashi dango”. Locally, it is pronounced as “midarashi” rather than “mitarashi” and is popular among tourists as a sweet treat to eat while walking. Normal mitarashi dango is covered in a sweet and spicy sauce made from sugar and soy sauce, but Hida Takayama’s midarashi dango is baked with a less sweet soy sauce sauce. This makes it more of a snack than a sweet treat. The dango is skewered, coated with soy sauce, and then grilled over charcoal. The doneness varies depending on the store, from lightly browned to well-browned. The fragrant aroma of the freshly baked dango will whet your appetite. It’s perfect to enjoy as a snack while walking around the old town of Takayama City. It’s so delicious that you could eat as many as you want. Today, we will be staying at the hot spring inn “Hida Takayama Onsen Futari Shizu Hakuun”. At Futari Shizu Hakuun, you can relax after your trip in the large bath and open-air bath, which draw water from the Hida Takayama Onsen hot springs. You can spend a relaxing time feeling the nature of the four seasons. The interior of the building has a Japanese atmosphere, incorporating traditional Hida architectural styles. Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine is a historic shrine located in Sakuramachi, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, and is known as the guardian shrine that protects the northern part of Takayama. Its founding dates back to the reign of Emperor Nintoku (around the 4th century), and it is said to have originated from a prayer for victory in battle by Naniwa Neko Takefurikuma no Mikoto. During the cherry blossom season (usually mid- to late April), water is filled in the rice fields in front of the shrine, and on windless days, the cherry blossoms are reflected on the water, creating a “reverse cherry tree.” The illumination at dusk is particularly fantastic. The “Garyu Sakura” in Ichinomiya Town, Takayama City.
The Garyu Sakura is a giant Edohigan cherry tree that is about 1,100 years old and is designated as a national natural monument. The most distinctive feature of the Garyu Sakura is that one large branch reaches the ground, and then takes root and grows independently. This unique shape looks like a dragon lying on the ground, which is why it was named “Garyu Sakura”. The circumference of the trunk is about 7.3 meters, and the branches spread about 20 meters east to west and about 30 meters north to south. It was severely damaged by the Ise Bay Typhoon in 1959 and Typhoon Milene in 1991, but thanks to the hard work of local people, it still blooms beautifully every year. JR Takayama Line.
