The Akihata Nasu district is a village located southwest of Kanra Town, surrounded by the sacred mountain, Mt. Inafukumi. Without flat farmland, this area practices small-scale farming on terraced fields supported by small stone walls called “Chijigaki.” The area has also developed a unique mountain village food culture, and in this area, where it was once said “if you can’t make soba noodles, you can’t get married,” soba noodles are still made into a special day meal.
