Niigata City Day Trip Japan Travel 🇯🇵 | Things to do, places to eat, ride Joetsu Shinkansen

Mapo tofu was not really spicy but went quite well with Yakisoba. Yakisoba with Japanese Curry topping. After lunch, I headed back to the bus stop. Since there was time before the next bus, I went to the nearby Shinano River which ran through the centre of Niigata. This was the Bandai Bridge, which had 6 arches, built in 1929. And it is also a symbol of the city. I took the next bus, which crossed the Shimano River using Bandai Bridge. Shinano River is the longest and widest river in Japan. It passed by Furumachi or Old Town, another commercial district of Niigata City. My next stop was the Hakusan Park. A large Torii gate was at the entrance of the park and the Hakusan Shrine was just next to the park. The park was supposed to be popular for cherry blossoms and autumn colours. However, the leaves had not changed colours yet for the autumn, so it was all still green, while the leaves of the cherry trees were dropping. It was also known for the landscape garden, especially the contrasting colours during autumn. However, it was still too early and leaves were still green. Outside the bus stop, was the Niigata branch of Northern Culture Museum, another residence of a prominent family, but I didn’t go in.

  1. thank you for this video. I hope to visit some business friends some day and Niigata seems to be a lesser visited city so the amount of content on youtube suggests this. Its all the big name cities usually.

  2. 長岡市に住んでる、このゴールデンウィーク新潟市に行くつもりだって、観光スポット全然わからん。このビデオ助かりました。
