VAN LIFE: My First Arctic Summer Full-Time in a Van | 3Hrs Relaxing Solitude & Off-Grid Solo Camping
One of the prettiest places I have ever been My first summer of full time van living in the arctic good morning it is July 10th and the winds have calmed it is a beautiful day but it is getting colder i am in Vadsø again I am preparing to head north and west up into the arctic mountain areas above Båtsfjord and Kongsfjord that should be spectacular these arctic high plains and mountains are amazing amazing views gonna drive up there today but first I will reply to some comment son my Youtube channel looks at this view as I showed you last night you can see all the way to Russia let me zoom in for you these are some distant mountain that I did not see last night The centre is Grense Jakobselv where the border runs along a creek everything to the left here is in Russia time to leave and go up into the mountains I am really loving this place even though it is very crowded wit RVs and Vans it is such a good spot with this view and free wifi the mighty Tana river and delta gonna drive out here on this little sand delta or peninsula at the mouth of the river roads are so bad no camping out here This mountain here might be Duolbagaissa where I camped and had that massive thunder storm a couple of summers ago it is on the other side of the Tana fjord very unaccessible unless you have a boat very cool to see it from here I wonder what is going on out there fishing maybe, or reindeer watching? This is actually Duolbagaissa, it just came into view zooming in if the sun hits it, it turns red time to start climbing up the mountain and get on top of this amazing plateau I am going to camp up there I have a couple in mind that I spotted when i was up here in winter I was also up here two years ago in summer and I saw a lot of good places to camp this tundra up here is just beautiful in summer, as it is in winter when the sun is shining it is incredible i am going out on another dirt road this looks interesting lets see if we can get high up with a view I can also stay down here reindeer fence this is wide open wide wide open incredible this is exactly what I was looking for for a camp site got full cell service for my hotspot and stunning views all around it is lunch time an today it is fruit for lunch it is actually 16:30 so a late lunch If you want to follow my maps, see my campsites and get access to exclusive videos & more, you can sign up to: Patreon.com/norwegianxplorer or “join” here on my channel as a member it is dinner time and today I am going to try something new and that is pizza rolls cooked in the Omnia oven I have an idea for this and I am not sure it will work but bare with me it could be cool, it could be a disaster here it is, the Omnia oven I got these pizza dough I am going to make a roll that I put in like this and see if that will work maybe do a test run with the small one first pizza sauce very interesting It is time to turn it off and let it sit I probably got to much filling should probably be way less gonna be good stuff! it needs to rest for a while Let us see what we can do with this pizza not bad lets try a few lets try this funny thing that is very good look at the crust here perfect that is a success so good I guess that is the way to make a pizza in the Omnia oven good morning coffee time just doing a little bit of file transfer before I start todays driving to Berlevåg gonna go north and down to the arctic ocean and that is some spectacular landscapes it quite windy up here so I am hoping it gets calmer down off the mountain so I can fly my drone big landscape this is Kongsfjord, the kings fjord very beautiful place amazing scenery in good weather probably cool in a storm as well this beach is just incredible this has got to be one of the prettiest place I have ever been 26°c around 80°f Berlevåg coming up Hoping to empty my toilet here some stuff here, a pub I think there is a store over here Seafood industry gas station and a store and birds, loads of birds I have an idea of a dirt road I want to go down it is around 20km or 12 miles long past the airport lets have a look here is the airport no drones allowed here dirt roads again I have found that when it is dirt roads with a washboard surface it is good to drive around 60k ph or 40 mph that evens out the bumps in the road cool camp sites here really cool terrain in here seem to be easy walking here comes the rain not sure that was on the forecast this is pretty cool this is the other side of the tana fjord again an area I want to explore further this was my goal when I was caught in the big thunder storm under Duolbagaissa I like this place but there is no cell service so I can not get any work done gorgeous place, but I also feel like it is too intrusive on the locals So I don not think I am going to stay there is a couple of other RVs here Germans Awesome place and a really goos starting point for backpacking trips but as I said, too intrusive on the locals it is mostly holiday homes here or cabins I think I am going up to the place close to the airport This valley looks like an amazing place to get higher up on the mountain for backpacking there might be a river to cross first though this is a sweet camp spot just outside the airport and i got a view of the ocean The north pole is the next stop across the ocean Getting a lot of bugs crushed on my windshield and the front of my van that is my wonderful camp spot gonna put it in the maps for my Patreons and YT channel members if you want access to my maps and campsites you can sign up to Patreon.com/norwegianxplorer or “join” here on my YT to become a member I post the same things to both those place mostly if you want to follow along, that is where you will find my maps I think this is gonna be camp great location overlooking the ocean if this stuff out here clears up it will be amazing I dont normally sit this way, but I got this awesome view behind me just wanted to show you got some late lunch. It is 17:00 cinnamon bun like I thought, this is an awesome place to set up camp with a view of the ocean and all of the cliffs doesnt get much better than this for camping i moved away from my lunch spot because of the strong wind and I knew that wouldnt be able to relax Good morning, it is shower time My heater has a 10 L water boiler for hot water it is July 13th and I have beautiful arctic camp in the kings fjord got my coffee it is quite windy tomorrow there will be real summer weather gonna be 75°f or 23°c and I debating whether to stay here and get some work done at least I am going to have a long Saturday breakfast and coffee first I have a new video coming out so I have to do some preparations for that A bit tired today, strangely enough because I slept really well There is probably a good amount of pollen in the air from this field I am parked in I cant believe I found this spot here, free of any vans or RVs because this camp spot is fantastic if you want to see this and other camp sites on a map you can sign up to my Patreon or become a member here on my channel it is basically a dirt road that goes straight to the ocean so there are not room for any other vehicles here breakfast is served or rather lunch since it is noon now still waiting for the weather to improve i am leaving this perfect camp in the Kings Fjord I am heading back into Tana to empty my black water and then I am heading up on the notorious Ifjord mountain Ifjord mountain I was driving a convoy across that mountain in a huge snow storm this winter and now it is really pretty summer weather should be a totally different experience gonna take a look in the harbour Please like and subscribe if you enjoy the video it might not be much of a harbour There is that fishing boat that came in yesterday I think I filmed that Old fishing boat love these cliffs out here I am in Tana gonna empty black water then a little bit of grocery shopping I am pretty much stocked up but it is the weekend and I am just gonna get some fruit lovely day, windy and 18°c or 65°f perfect day to be driving First time using these automated black water stations all of that stuff is done and now I am heading up on the mountain iFjord mountain, not an apple product looking forward to that another view of this peninsula where I experienced that massive thunder storm two years ago so awesome out there this is the tana fjord looking in the direction from where I came there is that valley fjord I drove down into and did not camp This is what I love about the arctic starting to climb up on the mountain got about 15 minutes to go where I am hoping to camp should be several options but I have one particular site in mind this is a gorgeous place but there is no cell service so I will not get internett service that is a no for me should I go back or continue? I think I will continue west and see what i can find that was a long day than I expected I expected to find a camp up on Ifjord mountain but no cell service so no internett got some shopping done, lot of bananas and fruit. and a little treat last of my non-alcoholic Finnish IPAs love this it is dinner time, and today I am having chicken tikka masala mostly ingredients from Finland some chicken that is expiring I need to get that out of the way and boil-in-a-bag rice probably dinner for several days dinner is served i got another type of Finnish alcohol-free beer let see about this taste very good simple and tasty dinner the sun is so strong on this side time for a little dessert and another episode of The Mayor of Kingstown New York, Chicago, Philly it is 23:00 and the sun is so strong this is the ultimate spot for having sunshine through the night just gonna enjoy this beautiful evening read some and enjoy the midnight sun of course it gets a little bit hard to sleep but it is worth it 23:59 or 11:59 PM Midnight OK, it’s time to get going from this amazing campsite. I might return to this on the way back. Heading out to the northernmost point. Mehamn and then to Slettnes lighthouse. Which is some extremely cool little spot in this weather it’s gonna be absolutely fantastic so let’s go. These mountain plateaus up here are wild. This is barren arctic landscapes, rock upon rock upon rock and light can awesome and some lakes really cool. Gonna take the little detour here to Nervei not gonna go all the way today but I wanna check out this road a little bit. I want to make this road a part of my dirt road map so that you can check it out if I find some good stuff up here. I can find my dirt road map on Patreon and if you become a member of my channel sign here let’s see what it says Road is under construction drive careful also says it’s private road but uh doesn’t say that it’s um prohibited to go down here so let’s go a few kilometers to see if we can get over the highest point look for some use so no cell service up here. I’ll see when we get up. I think I’m gonna turn around here up here. I’ve got two bars of cell service so this is definitely a place we could revisit really cool. Just goes on forever up here. Getting down to Mehamn and the Arctic coast gonna turn right and head out to the point with the lighthouse Slettnes, Gamvik, lighthouse. This is a very remote spot. They have their own airport out here though. It is Sunday today so nothing is open here so I will return tomorrow or the day after and take a little tour of this little fishing town here. Look at this green water here. That’s pretty amazing. on the coastline. Look like there’s a parking place for rent out there. That’s good to know. No. Okay, we’re arriving in the little uh fishing village of Gamvik gonna continue out to the lighthouse. I think if the road is open. So the lighthouse is called Slettnes lighthouse. Not Gamvik lighthouse, like I said. I’m actually going over here. see if there’s any space to park on the parking lot at the end of the road here. Looks very crowded. What a gorgeous place this is. So this is the spot here. That’s room. Let’s just hope I can get a good one. This is the view in front of me here. So we’re going to go on a little hike here. it’s a nature reserve, so there’s a lot of birds here and uh these beaches look incredible. So a little loop here, a few kilometers. Ah, look at this beach here. How cool is that? What an absolutely spectacular sight this is beautiful stuff. Looks like uh the Caribbean only hits the arctic sea and next thing up there is the north pole. God love this. I guess there’s much more to see beautiful. This is fantastic. Welcome to the Caribbean in the north. Not really a hike, but a little brown trip and uh coastal areas here Amazingly beautiful. So the first bottle of propane is finally empty. You can see on this error code here. It was only 1/3 full and I’ve used it for four weeks now Let’s go out and switch to the other one I’ve got that is full. It’s right on the edge there. This one is nice to have put it there. It’s dinnertime again gonna try another variation of pizza in the omnia oven today. This time I’ll try cutting up the pizza and make pizza rolls before I use the oven. It should be interesting. Cheers, my friends. It’s one not uh alcohol free beers that I got in Finland, really? good. Really enjoying all this uh Finnish uh non-alcohol beer. Yeah. This might be a disaster. We’ll see. I have a feeling that’s going to get quite messy, but I’m trying it and I might have to modify later on. I’m sure it’s gonna taste good anyway. time to open some lengths here. Once take a look. Wow. That could be good. Make it Stanley bum. Then we wait let it settle. That looks pretty cool actually. Quite awesome. Well, dinner is served. Cheers, my friends. Let’s uh test this. Yep, that is really good Amazing. It’s been a great day outside. I’ve been able to finish a whole episode editing and um I’m just gonna stay here and stay 8 o’clock now bring it’ll clear up in the morning such a beautiful place. It’s a lot of campers here, but most of them have left probably because of the weather. I think it’s fine to have this sweater because I can stay here for as long as I want basically. Most other people here are probably on the schedule So I’m going to be watching the latest episode of House of the Dragon. one of my favorite favorite TV shows so good. Good morning. There’s a lot of sun outside so I’m keeping all my shades closed for now so that it doesn’t get too warm. Got the most important mealo today coffee? Cheers, my friends. It’s July 16th today. and it’s time to head on from this place, not going to go very far, just going to go round a peninsula and out to another beautiful spot that I saw, uh going to go there and set up camp out in the ocean, basically. But first I’m gonna empty my tanks and uh refill water, get some groceries stunt, only got a little bit of fruit left now, so time to get some. Okay. All the neighbors left one left at 4:30 in the morning, and the other one left right now at 10. Time to leave this beautiful place and get into town go into Gamvik first and then into Mayhem. It is called something like steadfast people. Well. the steadfast people looking into the bay. Guessing it has something to do with the people that live out here you need to be pretty steadfast to be able to hold out in this weather that that usually I have here. Gonna go out here looks like a really interesting place with a sauna actually. Beautiful place this is. I wouldn’t want to camp here because this would be intrusive of the locals. It’s gorgeous though. in Mehamn again. Gonna go to the store here. And this store often has free Wi-Fi, so I’m gonna try to upload a video. It’s uh 20 gigs, so it’s quite sizable if I don’t want to use my data on the phone for that if I can avoid it. This is the place. This kind of store Coop Prix usually has free Wi-Fi, but uh we’ll see there’s the dump station as well. Gonna go out on this peninsula here and see if I can park. What a beautiful place. Incredible. This is the place. It’s an old cannon. How amazing. without doubt the best campsite this summer. And now I just got to film a whale and right behind the camera. here. It’s a reindeer. This is just the absolutely most gorgeous campsite I’ve ever had in the van. It’s just uh perfect with this weather and uh the views. The peacefulness and this view right now I’m looking out over the ocean here and the fog has rolled in. So it’s uh balmy quiet. You can hear the sound of the birds. So perfect. Gonna enjoy this so much. I might just stay here for several days I think and there goes a boat out to sea. Fantastic.
What Arctic Van Life in Summer is really like. Welcome to 3 hours of pure relaxation from the remote edges of the Arctic — no more blizzards until next week, just cozy van life in the calm of Arctic summer. After surviving an unforgettable winter of snowstorms and extreme cold, I’ve returned to the same rugged roads and hurricane coast — but this time under the midnight sun, surrounded by peace, nature, and warm ocean winds.
This is my first full-time Arctic summer living off-grid in my cozy no-build luxury RV van. I travel solo through Norway, Sweden, and Finland, exploring the wilderness, cooking a new pizza in my Omnia oven, reading by the sea, and sheltering in calm after the storms.
📍 Filmed across the Arctic Frontier — from coastal roads to deep forest trails.
🛻 Thinking about a truck camper with a pop-up tent? I am know I am.
🌲 Just you, the bugs, ocean, wind, and the soft hum of off-grid living.
Whether you’re a van life enthusiast, a digital nomad, or someone who just wants to unwind with relaxing camping sounds and slow travel cinematics, this long-form video is made to loop and soothe.
🧭 This is a 2024 summer compilation to set the tone for new 2025 adventures.
Or as I would say:
Blizzards are gone, no more Suviving lol. I travel through the Arctic on the same roads where I was hit by massive snow storms, and the Hurricane coast, remember? But now all I get is magnificent summer vibes. Very Relaxing in my first arctic summer of full time van living. 100% Off-Grid with my cozy no-build luxury RV van. After surviving a hard winter of extreme blizzard and snow storm camping, I am ready for Cozy Spring and summer adventures in my van, been considering a truck camper lately with a pop up roof tent, maybe? Cooking a new Pizza experiment in my Omnia oven, Relaxing, Reading & Sheltering from the ocean. I decided to move into my cozy luxury van, travel full time and see what vanlife alone is actually like. I had spent the previous summer and winter in the van riding out thunderstorms, snow storms, blizzards and freezing temperatures, but now it was time for full time summer van life in the Arctic. Come along for my first month of living full time in the van in the less challenging times of the Arctic, driving to the most remote places I have ever been. This is a compilation from 2024 to prepare for new videos through the 2025 season.

🌲 Welcome back to the Arctic – this time without the blizzards!
This was filmed in the exact same places you’ve seen buried in snowstorms… but now it’s quiet, warm(ish), and green. A whole different world.

Hope the pre-summer videos are in the making rn. Or is it just the van/supplies preparation period yet? I think we're gonna find this out in an upcoming video. ARE WE? 😀
The music around 36:45 could easily fit Twin Peaks, especially the starting tunes.
Its amazing how close Russia is but how far apart the language is and attitudes are.
