Hello, everyone! It’s me again, this time without my 91-year-old grandma. Just me bravely holding up a GoPro, and using my phone to film in a different way to share some fun and delicious experiences from my self-drive trip in Tokyo and Hokkaido. I hope to share these with you for reference. This journey starts in Tokyo, taking you to see cherry blossoms under the Tokyo Tower. And Ameya-Yokochō, a bustling shopping street where you can buy so much. Then we fly to Hokkaido’s Shiroi Koibito Park. Aren’t you excited? Without further delay, let’s get started! Tokyo Tower was once the tallest freestanding tower in Asia, and it remains Tokyo’s most romantic symbol. And my favorite, the GTR. Trust me, bookmark this spot— it’s perfect for photos. Because you can capture the entire tower and the surrounding streets. For 1,500 yen, you can enter and enjoy the stunning view from the Main Deck. This is why you come to Tokyo. There’s a mini shrine at the top where you can buy various amulets. There’s also a café, an ice cream shop, and a souvenir store. Does the view from here look scary? Not for me! Watch me walk around here. I recommend spending half a day here. And don’t forget to visit the park below for the best tower shots. It’s a great spot for photos—highly recommended! Finally, here’s the cherry blossom footage. Then we headed to Ameya-Yokochō in Ueno—it’s livelier at night, with lots of lights and great for shopping. There are all kinds of stores and izakayas, perfect for relaxing. If you need to buy cosmetics, I recommend Daikoku Drug—it’s cheaper than other stores. For example, this vitamin C costs 1,100 yen elsewhere, but here it’s 980 yen. Here’s the deal. They also have a wide range of medicines. The staff are very friendly too— they recommended this anti-snoring nose strip. Great for your dad or friends who snore—it really works. And of course, pain relief patches for my grandma— also very affordable. If you love Crayon Shin-chan like I do, you must buy these little dolls here. You won’t find this “Ahoi” squeeze toy anywhere else. I regret not buying it—so much regret! Then we went to Ueno Park, where a temporary festival was happening. Well, it was mostly food stalls. Lots of cheap, tasty snacks—temporary though, so I’m not sure if it’ll be there next time. It’s cherry blossom season now, so Ueno Park is a must-visit. The cherry blossoms here are pale white. Why did I film this particular scene? Because all the cherry trees here are lit up, except for this one willow tree—no lights at all. Only this one is unlit; the others are all glowing. Because the others are cherry blossoms, so I made up a saying: “Add flowers to brocade, but no charcoal in snow.” Totally made up—haha! Then we set off for Hokkaido. Direct flights to Hokkaido were too expensive, so I had to fly to Tokyo first and then transfer. And then we picked up our rental car. Guess what car it is? In Hong Kong, it’s very expensive, but in Japan, it’s more affordable— because it’s a Japanese car! It’s a Subaru! It’s a Subaru! Sorry everyone, I got too excited. Alright, now we’re heading to our first stop, the White Lover Park. I originally thought it was just a park, but it turns out to be a museum. After parking the car, there’s a bakery on the left. You can try some bread there first. Then, after passing the red bus and some snack stalls, you’ll reach the ticket counter. Hmm, I don’t recommend buying ice cream here, because there’s also ice cream inside after you buy the ticket. It’s warmer to eat in the restaurant, and the view is more panoramic. From above, you can see everything. The ticket purchase here is self-service. Adults pay 800 yen per ticket, and there are many language options, so no need to worry about understanding. After getting the ticket, the staff will give you two chocolates, and then you can tour their factory. The chocolate-making here is fully automated, and so is the packaging. But working here seems too stressful. Not only does your supervisor watch you work, but strangers like us tourists also supervise you. It feels too high-pressure for me (though I’m not planning to work here). There’s also a CCTV showing workers manually inspecting defective biscuits. It’s quite meticulous. They also share some secrets, so you’ll have to buy a ticket to see. There’s also a DIY chocolate-making workshop, which you can sign up for. These are other people’s creations. The most unique part is this Gallery. Take a look at what’s special. Here it is! Ta-da! They photoshopped chocolate into Mona Lisa’s hand. So funny, right? Then I went to the restaurant and bought the limited-edition ice cream. It tasted terrible (like cough syrup). Don’t try it—it’s awful. But the chocolate drink is recommended—very rich. After the awful cherry blossom ice cream, I saw this limited-edition cherry blossom chocolate biscuit and didn’t dare to buy it. But you can try it, since it’s truly limited-edition. Here’s a fun story: While we were eating ice cream in the café, a TV crew suddenly showed up with mics and cameras, filming something. So I finished quickly and left. In the evening, we went to Sapporo city center to see the night view, and stopped by Susukino. We also visited Odori Park to see the TV Tower. A beautiful day ends here. Next time, guess where we’re heading? It’s a snowy wonderland. Sapporo doesn’t have much ice or snow, but this place is covered in thick snow. Stay tuned! Thanks, everyone. Bye! Remember to like, subscribe, and share! See you next time.
