I landed in Tohoku in mid-April. Surrounded by the spring light, we head to Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. Cute apple symbols are everywhere…! A nostalgic and beautiful time will begin as you tour the Edo castle town, Taisho Roman architecture, and cherry blossoms in full bloom. Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum The Yoshinocho Brick Warehouse, which was built as a sake brewery during the Meiji and Taisho periods, was renovated and opened in 2020. Yoshitomo Nara, a contemporary artist who has become popular in recent years, is from Hirosaki. The tasteful red bricks with a long history quietly speak to us. A place where new art and old time come together. When you go out to the square, you will see cherry blossom trees in full bloom. This presence under the blue sky. Mikami Building. Nationally registered tangible cultural property. It is the oldest existing reinforced concrete building in Hirosaki (built in 1927). On this first floor, there is a popular local ramen shop in Aomori. Niboshisha Hirosaki branch “Please.” “Would you like cold noodles or hot noodles?” “Oh, they’re warm.” ` `Please use them to store your luggage.” The noodles are custom-made thick noodles, and it takes 10 minutes just to boil them. Spicy Shrimp Tsukemen ¥1,030It ‘s topped with French bread. Filled with crispy fried shrimp. Aomori’s soul food “Niboshi Ramen” is made from sardines that are abundantly harvested in Mutsu Bay. The Tsugaru region in particular is said to be a competitive area for niboshi ramen restaurants. Gentle dried sardines and spicy shrimp. It was really delicious ~ Aomori Bank Memorial Hall A memorial hall of a national bank established in 1879. The white and mint green Renaissance-style building is designated as a national important cultural property. “Please take a look.” “It’s just me who says this in Chinese and English…” “It’s okay. It’s okay to say it in English.” “ Are you okay?” “Please take your time to look around.” “Thank you!” The exhibition hall on the first floor is a special space where historical architecture and contemporary art are fused. This staircase made of zelkova is shiny and shiny. On the second floor, there are gorgeous guest rooms and conference rooms. Just looking at the splendid interior and furnishings will give you a sense of elegance. The designer and builder, Mr. Sakichi Horie, is also known for his work on Osamu Dazai’s birthplace, Shayokan, and is a master craftsman who has worked on numerous Western-style buildings. A profound and gentle atmosphere that remains through the ages. Perhaps because it was the cherry blossom festival season, there were many food stalls and people in front of the tourist center. I would like to visit again sometime in the summer and see the Nebuta Festival. Former Hirosaki City Library The former Hirosaki City Library was built in 1906. It is a Western-style building that is a mixture of Renaissance and Japanese styles. In order to make the room brighter, there are many windows that allow light to come in from multiple directions. The architect was Sakichi Horie, the same as the Aomori Bank Memorial Hall. It is a Western-style building that represents the Meiji period and has been designated as a prefectural treasure. The second floor is a corner for local publications and a tour of literary monuments. You can feel as if you have traveled back in time with the atmosphere of those days. On a quiet afternoon, stories from the distant past come to life. Starbucks Hirosaki Koen-mae Store This wooden building was built in 1917 as the official residence of the army division commander, and is the second store in Japan to be designated as a registered tangible cultural property. This counter area was a conference room at the time. “Please go to the cash register in the back.” “A tall size Americano. Do you want to take it home ? ” In the waiting room overlooking Hirosaki Park, photos of the building’s evolution over more than 100 years are displayed. Hirosaki Castle and Hirosaki Park “Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival” is one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. It has been selected as one of the top 100 landscapes. Events such as the Tsugaru Shamisen National Tournament are also held at the Civic Hall in the park. Picnic under the cherry blossoms. Spring is when the flow of time stops for a moment. The boat moves quietly as the petals rustle. My heart melts as the cherry blossoms flow. Wow, under the roof of cherry blossom heart petals, the world becomes kinder. Every time I pass through the path of flowers, spring gradually falls into my heart. The red bridge and cherry blossoms are like a folding screen painting of spring. What you can see in the distance is Mt. Iwaki, which is still white. This is the northern sky, where winter and spring intersect. A gentle spring that tickles a distant memory. I’ll definitely never forget this view. Thank you for watching until the end! Please like and subscribe to the channel.
