If I tell you Lazio the first thing that comes to mind is Rome right? I think it’s like that for everyone in fact! From the beginning of our journey, however, it was clear that there is much, much more in this vast territory! In this video we will take you to discover five unmissable places that will make you fall madly in love with this region. Until this on the road, we didn’t know Lazio well either, we have to admit it! We found ourselves immersed in a super green place, full of villages, with different landscapes and rich in traditions… Now make yourselves comfortable, we have a lot to tell you! Unlike what we usually do, in this format we do not follow a precise itinerary between one chapter and another;
we will tell you about different areas and special places that we think deserve to be visited! Let’s start from the beaches of the sea of the
Gulf of Gaeta, also known as the Riviera of Ulysses, this stretch of coast in the south of Lazio is called this because according to legends, the famous Greek hero would have sailed in these waters during his adventures and indeed would have
stopped attracted by the spells of the sorceress Circe. In Sperlonga all this is told in murals and decorations
around the narrow alleys of the historic center The village is all white with the houses plastered in lime, stairs that go up and down in a tangle of streets where it is easy to lose orientation. There are arches overlooking the blue sea and houses with blue doors that are very reminiscent of the Cyclades but with an entirely Italian soul. We go down to the beach to have a completely
different perspective on the promontory. The town clings to a spur of rock that flows into the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The fine, golden sand is simply wonderful. We get back in the car to go towards Terracina and more precisely to the temple of Jupiter Anxur, which is located on the top
of the Monte Sant’Angelo at around 200 m above sea level The road to get there offers amazing views But it is only once you reach your destination
that the real spectacle opens up before your eyes. Entrance costs €10 and gives access to a very vast
and above all scenographic archaeological park. The main temple dates back to the first century BC and was a place of worship but also a symbol of power. Those arriving from the sea immediately saw this
architectural work which seemed to touch the sky The imposing cryptoporticus with the its arches
still well preserved and open to visitors Today, perhaps due to the wind, the view is very clear we clearly see the Circeo and all the Pontine islands in front of us. For the evening we move to Gaeta where first of all we visit the very famous Montagna Spaccata and the Grotta del Turco. It is certainly a particular place but it didn’t excite us to be totally honest. We go towards the historic center for a walk through the streets and reach the Porto pizzeria to try the Tiella, a typical dish of the city I tried it with onions but the traditional one is with octopus and tomato. I really liked it. Let’s say goodbye to the city with a walk along the beautiful seafront… Ciociaria is one of those areas that we have heard so much about but which we didn’t have a precise idea of;
we didn’t imagine a place so full of places to see. Our exploration starts from Isola Del Liri,
a village that stands out from the others for a particularity. In the historic center of Isola Del Liri there
are two waterfalls: one which is impossible to go unnoticed because it is 27 m high and a smaller one
located in the western area called the Valcatoio waterfall. Both waterfalls are considered natural and given their urban position they represent something unique in Italy; even from above they are a spectacle! Let’s take a walk in the center before reaching another equally fascinating place in a few minutes by car;
water is the true protagonist of this area. We have arrived at the Posta Fibreno lake; it is all made up of spring water and you will immediately notice it from the color
because it is fantastic, it is a truly beautiful blue green It is a jewel located in the Comino valley
on the border between Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise protected as a nature reserve for several years now its biodiversity is incredible. Walking on the suspended wooden walkways you will encounter different species of birds, moorhens and so many aquatic plants. It is one of those relaxing places that we really like to discover. On the lake shore there are clubs and bars where you can stop for a snack. Today with this beautiful sun it is the perfect day! When you are here, also take a trip to the center of the town, thanks to its elevated position it offers a splendid
view of the lake and the greenery that surrounds it . From above you should also see the Rota, a floating island of vegetal origin that moves slowly on the surface of the water driven by the wind. Third and last stop on our micro itinerary in Ciociaria is Anagni. As soon as we arrive we stop for lunch in Piazza Cavour
in a traditional trattoria where we ate very well . Here you can choose what you want, the traditional dishes are all incredible. The city it is a succession of green corners, ancient and majestic noble palaces and cobbled streets with a somewhat mysterious
appearance; it is called the town of the popes for two main reasons: it was the birthplace
of four pontiffs and then there is the slap of Anagni, an episode that began the decline of medieval papal power. What you absolutely must not miss in the village is the crypt of the cathedral of Anagni; with an €8 ticket you will have access to the different
rooms of the museum, to the church and finally to its crypt. Defined as the Sistine Chapel of the Middle Ages, it preserves frescoes created between 1100 and 1250 which are decidedly out of the ordinary. The works of art cover every centimeter of available surface from the columns to the ceiling; an entire painted world that leaves you speechless… And here is another extraordinary area of Lazio:
Tuscia, the ancient land of the Etruscans, is an authentic corner of the world where history is perceived at every step . We had already been there a few years ago
on a previous trip but we wanted to go back to see more, because there is really a lot to
explore and learn about starting from its villages! Ronciglione is one of these. The entrance to the historic center is super scenic with a long staircase that leads to a group of
homogeneously colored houses built on a spur of rock. Famous for hosting one of the oldest carnivals in Italy, its streets are well-kept and full of lush plants, each alley has its own identity and they
almost seem to guard secrets from centuries gone by today, the town with this light and the black sky is particularly evocative Vitorchiano is another example of how much beauty can be found in these parts surrounded by nature it was built to look like a balcony overlooking the valley its houses are entirely built with blocks of peperino, a volcanic stone that gives the village a dark, almost severe but extremely fascinating and recognizable colour. Some houses seem to protrude into the void,
the atmosphere you breathe is always calm and relaxed. The first word that comes to mind to describe
the Sacred Forest or Monster Park of Bomarzo is Enigma A strange and surreal place where you can walk next to giants, oblique houses, tritons and cross large portals inside a mouth wide open for information the entrance ticket is €13 The park was designed in 1547 by the then lord of Bomarzo: Pierfrancesco Orsini after the loss of his wife it is a labyrinth of symbols and statues that challenge the imagination and lead to reflection;
one of the most beautiful inscriptions in our opinion is found right at the entrance on one of the two sphinxes: “you who wander around the world in search of tall and stupendous wonders,

Less than an hour from Rome we find the Roman castles: a set of 17 picturesque villages immersed in the reliefs of the Alban hills; this area of volcanic origin once constituted the Lazio volcano which, with its intense activity, generated a large caldera within which today we find the volcanic lakes of Albano and Nemi. And it is precisely about Nemi that we want to talk to you; built in a
breathtaking position the town is famous for its sweet strawberries. The whole area is actually very green and fertile, ideal for the cultivation of vines, olive trees and fruit. When you are here, walk up to the Belvedere at the top
of the village, for a crazy view of the surrounding landscape. Castel Gandolfo is also well known, home to the Pontifical Villa. Historic summer residence of the Popes overlooking Lake Albano. The town is small apart from its square and the main street there is little to see but for its scenic beauty certainly deserves a visit. Just as we liked the sanctuary of Juno Sospita, located above
the village of Lanuvio and inserted in a park with free entry. The historic center is really small, surrounded
by walls and towers from the medieval era . It is an unusual place, outside the classic tourist itineraries. If you have time to dedicate to the area you could
make a visit but it didn’t convince us 100% to be honest… And finally, let us include in this chapter a village that is located just outside the Castelli Romani, 20 minutes from Nemi,
we loved it and would like to recommend it to you! Artena is immediately striking for its being perched on a limestone hill. The historic center has a particularity: it is the largest
pedestrian area in Europe, a maze of well-kept streets embellished with flowers and lush plants, a succession of stairs,
climbs and descents that preserve the authentic soul of such an ancient place! On this trip to Lazio we met a lot of kitten friends, who I continue to pet even though I’m allergic, it’s stronger than me! In the fifth chapter of this video we take you to the Simbruini mountains we had high expectations for these places but unfortunately there was a very small hitch: bad weather. We really can’t predict that yet. When we arrived in Cervara di Roma we were completely immersed in the clouds. In the streets there was only us and an unreal silence. We managed to grasp all the charm, but we are certain that
with a better day these places are something else entirely. If you come here don’t miss the sculptures in the rock that create an open-air museum , immersed in a splendid natural context and maybe send us some photos of the town
on a sunny day on Instagram to make us cheer up a little . we move and in 20 minutes by car we are in Subiaco but before going to the center there is an area that we want to see. The area of the monasteries is a place of extraordinary
historical, spiritual and artistic importance… Here is the sacred Speco; a monastery built
around the cave where San Benedetto lived as a hermit, after passing through an arch and after a short uphill walk in the middle of a forest you arrive at the square where we see the building
clinging to the rock face of Monte Taleo. Unfortunately, after an initial entrance corridor it is no longer possible to take videos but we can tell you that the complex which is spread over
several levels is very suggestive. Access is free and clear. The town of Subiaco welcomes us with an ancient medieval humpback bridge called the San Francesco bridge . It overlooks the very clear Aniene river and is also famous for rafting. It must be super fun. We tried canyon canoeing but never rafting. We’ll make up for it! We walk to the ancient heart and access the labyrinth of small paved streets through a stone arch. With a short climb we are at the Rocca dei Borgia;
highest point of the town from which you can enjoy a special view of the roofs of the houses and the nature of the valley And as evening falls in Subiaco, we should say goodbye but something is still missing: this time we decided to add a sixth point in the video because we visited such a lovely town on
Jessica’s advice and we want to tell you about it Castel di Tora is located in the heart of the Turano Valley, among lush woods and nestled on the banks of a lake with turquoise waters. We arrived in the evening as the sun was going down and we found ourselves in front of a real spectacle: this area that we really didn’t know has bewitched us; even just traveling through the streets gave us a nice feeling it’s uncontaminated, so thriving and with
spontaneous vegetation that we loved so much. The view of the village from the bridge that crosses the lake is our favorite but even inside the town it’s not bad! there are all these houses decorated with mosaics, quiet streets that suddenly open into small squares or that end in panoramic views of the water, a truly special place to end this part of the adventure… And thanks as always for reaching the end of the video!

Buona parte del Lazio è devastato da una pianificazione dissennata. Molti centri storici, di contrasto sono mal tenuti. Poche immagini da cartolina su una cascata o su una pieve non cambiano la realtà, al massimo la nascondono
Il Lazio, con i suoi piccoli borghi, è come uno scrigno pieno di perle… ognuno ha il suo fascino unico! E tra tutti, Ronciglione è davvero una gemma speciale.

Il Lazio ha una storia piu'.. sommessa di quella dei vicini Toscana e Campania, fatta di papi, grandi famiglie possidenti e borghi arroccati sulle colline, una natura sempre verde e rigogliosa e un clima favorevole. Io conosco abbastanza la Tuscia (mio papa' era di Bolsena) che e' molto bella, infatti sono stato a Bomarzo e sicuramente consiglio il lago di Bolsena e piu' vicino a Roma il lago di Bracciano.

Conosco bene la zona della Ciociaria, Gaeta, la montagna spaccata ecc….sono luoghi che ho frequentato spesso negli anni novanta🥰 è stato bello rivederli 😊. Mancano all appello molti altri meravigliosi posti e paesi e capisco sia impossibile inserirli tutti in un breve video ma nn si può nn citare la bellissima Tivoli con le sue ville storiche, le cascate, il bellissimo centro storico e il panorama che si affaccia su Roma
Salve Io sono un nuovo iscritto del canale, dato che si sta parlando di Lazio volevo nominare la provincia di Rieti. (Oltre al lago del Turano) Non so se già ci siete stati oppure sarà inserita nel prossimo video. Concedetemi un piccolo elenco:
Oltre al centro storico della città di Rieti nei suoi dintorni possiamo trovare la Valle Santa, il luogo prende le sue origini da San Francesco d'Assisi, in sostanza in questa zona egli effettuò i vari miracoli e per ogni miracolo c'è un santuario nella Valle Santa. Se ne contano quattro: il santuario Francescano di Greccio, il convento di San Giacomo a Poggio Bustone, Il Santuario Francescano di Santa Maria della Foresta e Il Santuario Francescano di Fontecolombo. Inoltre ci sono delle sorgenti bellissime a Rivodutri, Le Sorgenti di Santa Susanna. Tutti questi luoghi sono collegati dal cammino di San Francesco (luogo suggestivo è il faggio di San Francesco) . Inoltre nella provincia si sono alcuni borghi molto carini come: Labro, Poggio Bustone (dove è nato Lucio Battisti), Cantalice, Greccio, Leonessa, Cittaducale, Casperia e Borgo San Pietro con la sua vista sul lago del salto. Infine nella provincia c'è anche il Terminillo. Bellissimi video adesso me li andrò a vedere tutti 😍

Consiglierei inoltre anche il Giardino di Ninfa in provincia di Latina, considerato il giardino più bello e romantico dal New York Times e Civita di Bagnoregio, la cosiddetta città che muore, tra i borghi più belli d'Italia.
Almeno una tra Anzio e Nettuno potevate inserirle, non solo per l'importanza storica ma anche perchè sono gli unici litorali romani abbastanza decenti (Ostia inguardabile, così come tutto ciò che c'è più a nord fino alla Toscana)

Il sud della regione è stato pesantemente toccato dai bombardamenti anglo americani del bienno 1943-44, perché a chi ha voluto quella guerra non era bastato costruire nella zona delle paludi pontine le città più brutte d'Italia, in testa l'orrenda Latina ex Littoria; no nella loro ridicola magalomania quei pagliacci in orbace dovevano anche dichiarare guerra agli inglesi e agli americani.

Video bellissimo,da visitare ancora c'era Rocca di Papa,Frascati con le sue ville stupende,Grottaferrata,Monte Porzio Catone ed altri che rappresentano il meglio dei castelli romani…nulla da to gliere a quelli visitati,bellissimi…grazie dei vostri video..
Beh la zona che avete preso in considerazione per la Ciociaria ha tantissime particolarità e forse, la cosa migliore è la possibilità di fare diverse esperienze muovendosi di pochi km… Da Sora in 5 minuti si è a Isola del Liri, gli stessi necessari per Posta Fibreno… Ma anche Arpino merita… Poi se si vuole, armandosi di buona volontà ci sono numerosi percorsi di trekking, ma anche belle salite per il ciclismo…
Siii, molto belli questi borghi. Abito a Roma Est da 25 anni e conosco per di più i Castelli Romani: Frascati, Grottaferrata ,Marino,Rocca di Papa Castelgandolfo, Ariccia .Nemi l'ho conosciuta una decina di giorni fa, quando ho fatto il sentiero degli acquedotti da Genzano a Nemi,fermandomi a comprare le crostatine alle fragoline di bosco. 😋😋😋 In effetti vi volevo suggerire Viterbo e dintorni con Calcata,Civita di Bagnoregio ma vedo che avete già provveduto. Aspetto il prossimo video. P.s. conosco anche Sperlonga,a Gaeta e Terracina mai stata ma sono stata anche a Circeo e al castello di santa Severa sul litorale Nord.
Bellissimo video bei posti ma non sono d’accordo sulla montagna spaccata io l’ho trovata bellissima
Scusate, andate in giro per i Castelli Romani e non visitate Ariccia? Se arrivate da via Appia trovate subito la splendida Piazza di Corte, opera di Gian Lorenzo Bernini e dei suoi collaboratori, tra cui Carlo Fontana. Bernini ha progettato la Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo, le fontane della piazza e il monumentale Palazzo Ghigi, ricco di dipinti, decorazioni pittoriche e sculture. All'interno si svolgono importanti mostre. Nel palazzo c'è anche il museo del barocco e c'è un parco di 28 ettari ricco di cose interessanti da vedere. Poi come non parlare del Ponte di Ariccia che ha il poco piacevole nomignolo di Ponte dei suicidi. Infatti, essendo alto 72 metri, molte persone l'hanno usato per suicidarsi, lanciandosi nel vuoto. Ma lasciando perdere le opere d'arte, Ariccia è famosa in tutto il mondo per la porchetta, che ha il riconoscimento del marchio IGP. Una bontà assoluta da mangiare in panini molto ben riempiti. Poi ci sono le fraschette, dove romani e non, vanno a mangiare le prelibatezze del posto. Il centro storico è un insieme di stradine e vicoli molto pittoreschi, tutti lastricati di sampietrini. Da piazza di Corte, percorrendo Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi, si arriva a piazzale Mazzini col Belvedere, da dove si può ammirare il mare di gran parte della costa laziale a Sud di Roma. E poi, nella parte alta di Ariccia, tra i boschi, c'è una salita dove se lasci andare un palla o rotolare una bottiglia, anziché andare in discesa, rotolano in salita. Si dice per un effetto ottico ma, trovandosi in quel posto, è difficile capire se sia davvero un effetto ottico o se sia una cosa veramente molto strana e inspiegabile. Aggiungiamo infine anche l'aria buona che si respira ed ecco a voi Ariccia, una perla assoluta dei Castelli Romani.

Sono romana e amo la mia città ma il Lazio non è solo Roma. Ci sono meraviglie poco conosciute. Merita una visita, credetemi!
