【世界遺産・白川郷】40分間の散歩旅、春の合掌造りと美しい大自然を歩く
good morning! [Destination Stroll] Kotorippu 🐦️ We are bringing you a walking scene of a small destination. Today we will be visiting the World Heritage Site “Shirakawa-go”. A place where Japan’s traditional scenery is still cherished. We will start from the “Seseragi Park Parking Lot”. Cross this large suspension bridge called “Deai Bridge” and head to the gassho-zukuri village of Shirakawa-go. Right in front of you. The “Shogawa” flows through the bridge, and as you cross the bridge, it shakes and gives you a thrill. However , the view of the mountains and the beautiful river from the top of the bridge makes you feel like you are walking in the midst of beautiful nature.Once you cross the bridge, you will find “Hagimachi Gassho-zukuri Village”, where there are rows of thatched-roof houses.Go past “Akiba Shrine” . There are many traditional guesthouses and restaurants in the village. As you walk through the streets, the gentle air and the scent of trees drift in, making you feel relieved. The temperature in Shirakawa-go this morning was 3 degrees Celsius , which was quite cold. However , the sky was clear and as the sun rose, it got warmer and warmer, reaching 15 degrees Celsius by mid-morning. It’s perfect weather for a nice walk ☀️ Hagimachi Gassho-zukuri Village is lined with more than 100 gassho-zukuri buildings, many of which are over 100 years old and used as guesthouses and shops. In addition to this , people actually live there and continue to protect the traditional way of life, making this village feel nostalgic and warm. Continuing further, we arrived at a small elevated spot behind Myozenji Temple, where a cherry tree greeted us. From this hill, we could look down on the gassho-style village. The contrast between the fresh green mountains , the still-snow-covered mountain tops, and the thatched-roofed houses was a beautiful sight that made us want to gaze at it for a long time. We enjoyed the spectacular view. Let’s get off the hill and continue our walk ☺️ Walking along the footpath and entering the precincts of “Myozenji”, you will see a nice thatched roof and a bell platform with a nice atmosphere . Passing through the platform and going to the right, you will come to the main street of Shirakawa-go, where many tourists are walking. It is still early, so the shops are preparing to open. The water in Shirakawa-go is so clear that you can clearly see the bottom. Just by walking, you can feel the blessings of nature. On the way, I saw a thatched roof being re-thatched. Apparently, this roof is completely replaced once every 30 years. An important culture that supports the beautiful landscape of Gassho-zukuri style. In Shirakawa- go during Golden Week, we saw a special scenery that can only be seen at this time of year: rice fields before rice planting and rows of gassho-zukuri houses.Carp swimming comfortably in the irrigation canal. The sound of water flowing. As I watched the carp swim, I felt time passing slowly.Next , I visited both the Nagase House and the Kanda House. This is an old building with a magnificent garden inside. The well-maintained garden and well-organized houses show how the local people have continued to protect them with care.Let ‘s walk down the small path behind the Kanda House. The small cobblestone pavement gradually loses the number of tourists, allowing you to see a quiet side of Shirakawa-go.Walk a little further along the path. Suddenly, I saw an observatory on the mountain opposite.I continued on, weaving between a small irrigation canal and a rice field. The spring sunlight was soft, and the mountains and blue sky spread out in the distance. It was like a picture. At the end of the path, at a slight curve, a small wooden pier came into view. The sound of flowing water sounded soothing, and I stopped to take a deep breath. There is a peaceful space that makes you want to take a bath. The appearance of the pier is in harmony with nature, making it a very nice sight. As you continue along this quiet road, you will soon see the large gassho-zukuri Wada House, which represents Shirakawa-go.You can tour the inside of the house in a calm atmosphere, and live a simple and beautiful life. There is a water lily pond nearby, which creates a nice atmosphere. If you walk a little further, you will see the shuttle bus stop that takes you to the observation deck. The bus runs every 20 minutes, and there are already many people lined up.Let ‘s continue our walk after leaving the shuttle bus stop.Shirakawa -go has been preserved as just a tourist destination. It is a place where people still live and the traditional lifestyle and culture is alive and well . Residents work together to protect Gassho-zukuri houses in a spirit of mutual help called “Yui.” In addition , in Shirakawa-go, the three principles of “Do not sell, do not rent, and do not destroy” are taken care of, and the houses , townscapes, and landscapes are cherished. Thanks to this , Shirakawa- go remains a beautiful village, both now and in the past. The scenery of the four seasons, the lives of the villagers, and the beautiful nature all harmonize in Shirakawago.Spring is fresh greenery, summer is lush rice fields , autumn is autumn leaves, and winter is snowy. Each season has a variety of charms.Today , the sky was blue and the air was clear, and the weather was truly perfect . I was able to enjoy a leisurely stroll while feeling the original scenery and the richness of nature. YouTube [Destination Walk] Koto Trip delivers walking scenes of small travel destinations.
