It's such a beautiful area! That bridge is definitely unique. It's very pretty but every time I look at it I think all the ups and downs might make it take more steps to cross than if it had been a more traditional bridge shape.
Looks like a delightful place to visit!!
more cathy, more iwakuni yay and why are you stepping on my sushi???
Pasta! Yay!
Iwakuni looks like a beautiful, relaxing town to visit. I love how it has made the bridge its trademark symbol, and the city embraces its historical features💕
Amazing video. Beautiful city.
This gives me inspiration to return to Japan🎉
Great video, very informative as usual
Looks like a lovely place 🙂
peaceful and quiet place there👏👏👏👏👏
The Kentai bridge is about 15 minutes from my house and it's always a fun and beautiful place to visit, especially during Sakura season. Hope you had a lot of fun and were able to find places to stay cool in the summer heat.
The manhole covers you saw not only feature the Kentaikyo but also a fisherman using Cormants, an amphibious local bird, that they have on leashes to catch fish that they've been trained to bring back to the boat which is a local tradition that is carried on today.
Cool 😀
i was actually stationed in iwakuni with the U.S Marines, we occasionally hike up to the kintai castle for going away of a fellow marine or for reenlistment. great memory high recommend, really miss being there
All water under the bridge
Love to see Cathy Cat as the presenter, showing us Isakuni. Watched her for years on Ask Japanese and Japan railway Journal. Beautiful castle and bridge. Cute little stores and coffee shop and a park to walk in.
nice comment
NHK level of quality
If Chris Broad is an angry cat, she's a happy puppy lol
I filmed an oral history of a woman who survived genocide by hiding in the shrubs. Although she and the genocide were famous, it was the only time she told her story of survival on camera. The video went only to the family and isn’t on the web. She opened up because she trusted me, which is why I believe you will be great at oral histories because people trust you – almost instantly! I hope NHK sees your gift and gives you the opportunities.
I have no idea how I got unsubscribed from you. I was wondering why you haven't uploaded all year. YouTube is irritating.
What a pretty place Iwakuni is. I know this city for the USMC base. I wish you a nice and cool autumn soon in Japan! (I know it is very hot in Japan). BTW, 最近デブッた?
Always nice to watch your videos
A great introduction of charming part of Iwakuni, where I ve never been to, though I went past Iwakuni when I was little during summer vacation every year to see my grandparents in Kyushu. I was looking out the windows in the train car around 5am or so, as the sleeper train from Tokyo station passing Iwakuni. This video brought back that time of my childhood memory of happiness that has been buried in my memories for very long.
I was in on iwakuni japan I n 1979 .I love iwakuni .
After we cross the bridge there was a water falls were u had a restaurant surrounding with mountain u can sit and have chicken stand. It was a beautiful place.
I wish I got to explore so much more of Iwakuni when I was stationed there with my family. This is on my bucket list for the next time I visit Japan. Hopefully the chicken shack is still up and running.
So happy to see you were in my town!! I watch you all the time!
Revisited Iwakuni last month and took my wife this time. Walked across the bridge, took the path to the right so that we could view the statue of Sasaki Kojiro, then took the ropeway to the castle. Such a beautiful place! On the way back to the bus station, we stopped at the shirohebi (white snake) museum. Fascinating history. So thankful to have been able to visit, although September is a bit on the warm side. I bet it's nice and cool right about now! First visit was in March of 2000, sakura was in bloom. Was so gorgeous to see the river lined with blooming cherry trees!
Lived in the area for 25 years and never seen anyone this enthusiastic about Iwakuni! lol. The Kintaikyo Bridge is a replica of the original. It's been rebuilt 3 times in the last 25 years due to floods! Visit it after 5pm ish to avoid paying to cross it, and visit the area before holiday seasons to avoid paying for parking on the stone river bed area.
Oh snap! Its my hometown! Sadly, there ain't much to see, its more of a quiet family town where the locals are friendly. Surprised no coverage of Iwakuni Castle nor the yellow brick road (For the night life). Also, most people consider the JR station as the 'real' Iwakuni train station since its right in the city center.
this videos like when you got 300 words left in your essay lol
Very nice video. Great that it is close to Hiroshima, as Hiroshima is on our list to visit.
