PERFECT PILGRIMAGE TO MT FUJI | Bye Nozawa Hello Fuji Kawaguchiko | 野沢から富士山へ 日本 JAPAN | Ep 17 2025
[Music] Kunichi kimono wearers, we say bye-bye sanara snow and hello Kunichi Fujisan. From one Japanese icon to another, like going from Chico Roll to Potato Scolop, both Aussie fish and chip joint icons. [Music] Yikes. After pushing the boundaries on skis and really ripping up the green runs, Noa and the Hulk are resting up and keen on seeing Fuji Sun. The supermarkets and shops at larger Japanese train stations are great for getting something tasty for your travels. It all looks delicioso. Strawberry and cream sandwiches. Genius idea. So, it’s on to the Fuji excursion jump at Shinjjuku station bound for Fuji Kawaguchio. Sounds like a softy, but it is in fact a town. The excitement and anticipation is growing as we catch our first glimpses of Fuji Sun. Fuji Kawaucho is a resort town to the north of Mount Fuji. It offers some of the best views of the mountain compared to other nearby towns. And as a resort town has a ridiculous number of souvenir shops selling the same stuff, especially down by Lake Kawaguchi. Hire some bikes and do a tour to Kawaguchi, visiting the numerous convenience stores around town to see which has the best view of Mount Fuji. Jaffa, Noa, the Hulk, Ramen. You go. No one’s stuck. For less than 3 months of the year, can you hike Mount Fuji? So, we had to make do with getting the best views possible. It’s up the ropeway we go. [Music] The ropeway takes you 400 meters up Mount Tenjo to observation decks giving great views of Fujian. For adults, it’s 1,000 yen for the return trip. Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest peak at over 3,700 m. It’s been a pilgrimage site for centuries and is one of three sacred mountains in Japan. As a sacred mountain, climbing it has long been a religious [Music] practice. Whether Trippy Taka made the climb before joining Monkey, Pigy, and Sandy on their pilgrimage to fetch holy scriptures is unclear. There is a bit to do around town. Museums, hikes, tours on and around the lake, onsons, there’s an amusement park. There are several town bus routes that can get you to the main sites. If you’re just here to get a decent view of Fujian, no need to spend more than a night here. We rest our heads at the Fuji Kawagucho Resort Hotel. They’re not far from the train station and offer to shuttle you between the two on arrival and departure. The Japanese artist Katsushika Hokasai did 36 fuge of Fujisan. My favorite is the great wave off Kanagawa. Rooms either face Mount Fuji or the car park depending on your budget and can either be western or Japanese style. Our room was about 23,000 yen for the night. Once you’ve relaxed from viewing Fujisan, the hotel has a nonsen you can soak in. [Music] There are two tubs inside and three outside. All are a comfortable warm temperature. No accidental poached eggs here. Obviously, I was alone in the onson otherwise I wouldn’t be filming. The hotel serves up a decent brekie. Not huge, but a decent mix of Western, Japanese, and other Asian stuff. [Music] Just following me. Definitely sample as many Japanese breakfast items as possible. That’s why you’re here, isn’t it? You didn’t come to Japan for a McMuffin and Starbucks, did you? There isn’t a Mackers or Starbucks in Kawaguchi anyway. Praise the Lord. [Music] [Music] So, that was our quick visit to Kawaguchi Go and Fuji Sun. We were super lucky with the weather. I’ve heard stories of some people coming and completely missing out on seeing Mount Fuji with cloud and mist covering the mountain. Unless you want to do a bit of hiking, I reckon a night here is plenty. There’s only so many shots you can take of Fujian. [Music] Our one dinner at May Fuji, pretty much directly opposite the hotel. [Music] [Music] As usual, thanks for watching. Remember to like and subscribe. And until next time, stay safe and wear a helmet. [Music]

konichiwa kimono wearers, we say bye bye sayonara snow and hello konichiwa Fuji-san, from one Japanese icon to another, like going from chiko roll to potato scallop, both aussie fish and chip joint icons. That’s right, we are done with the snow and are now making our way to Mt Fuji and Kawaguchiko.
After pushing the boundaries on skies and really ripping up the green runs, Noka and the Hulk are resting up on the train and keen on seeing Fuji-san. In this vid we rest our heads at the Fuji Kawaguchiko Resort Hotel, jump in an onsen, do a Tour de Kawaguchiko bike ride around town and go up the ropeway to get great views of Fuji-san.
