30歲港女裸辭一年【上】:在大嶼山梅窩耕田尋找半農半X的可能性

Two years ago, I moved to Mui Wo and came into contact with the farmland in Hong Kong and learned to grow vegetables from farmers. In this episode, I want to talk about how I started a new life in this farmland after I resigned. Do you know that in addition to the city side of high-rise buildings, Hong Kong also has rural areas and a lot of beautiful farmland where fresh vegetables are grown and retain the original taste. After I resigned last year, I chose to return to Hong Kong and live next to the farmland in Mui Wo, a half-hour boat ride from Central. What is this thing about Hong Kong? In a place with high prices and fast pace, is there any room for us to break out of the mainstream and find our own life? More than two years ago, I participated in the second Seed Lantau Project held by the community building NGO Hao Laotu in Mui Wo. I learned from farmers about growing vegetables. I remember that at the beginning, I didn’t even know how to distinguish between weeds and crops. When weeding, I could pull out all the seedlings, which made the farmers very helpless. The farmer also taught me how to read the weather , saying that growing vegetables is actually related to nature. At the moment of cooperation , I finally understood the wisdom of farming. After the course, I continued to work as a volunteer on the farm. The farmer gave me some land to continue taking care of. Learning farming in Mui Wo for two years felt very real. Every time I touched the soil and smelled the smell of the fields, I felt connected to the land. I slowly recognized the plants grown on the land in Mui Wo and began to know how to distinguish different fruit trees. For example, lychee, longan and yellow bark are also crops grown for our community. It seems that I am very proud of yellow peel, pineapple, broccoli, winter melon, etc. They are much more delicious than those usually sold in supermarkets or at the entrance. I was actually a carnivore before farming. I don’t like eating vegetables at all. But after farming, when I tried to pick fresh vegetables in the field, the fresh farm flavor, I couldn’t go back. Of course, farming is definitely not an easy task , and it is not romantic at all. I actually regard farming as a self-challenge and learning practice, including me. Personal physical fitness, willpower, personal focus and my discipline training. Especially in the summer, I have to get up very early and endure the high temperature and mosquitoes . Farming is really full of different variables. My crops will be eaten by birds and mosquitoes and will be destroyed. At first, I would be so angry that I wanted to cry, but the farmer told me that nature has its laws. The land not only belongs to us humans and animals, but also has the right to enjoy it. Gradually, I learned to accept this truth . I will call this passive. The weather in Hong Kong is getting worse year by year and extreme crop failure is very common. Facing these adversities and difficulties, I learned to face these adversities and difficulties with a calm attitude. These are life lessons that farming has taught me. I slowly learned to be calm and easy-going in the face of everything. I personally am not so persistent and relaxed a lot. Farming gave me a calm heart and courage . Last April, I finally resigned from my full-time job. I have been working from 9 to 5 for eight years , but when I got busy, I could work overtime until midnight. I tried sleeping in a car until I passed out . I had to be woken up by the bus captain to ask me to get off the bus. In addition, I didn’t see any room for breakthrough at work. My position and salary seemed to have reached the top. In my industry, you need to study for a PhD to advance to the next level. But after completing the PhD, my way out will actually be narrower. Just at the beginning of last year, I completed my M.Phil. I think it is an opportunity for me to try to think outside the box and find other possibilities in life. I remember one time when I was working overtime until midnight and taking the last MTR train, I saw my reflection in the glass, as if I had no soul. At that time, I thought that if I didn’t try new things, I might regret it for the rest of my life. Farming in Mui Wo for two years showed me the possibility of self-sufficiency. When I received a basket of tomatoes during one harvest, I immediately took one out and bit it ! It was so sweet that I was really happy at that moment . It was a very simple and pure satisfaction. In fact, life really doesn’t have to be that complicated. Having a place to live and food to eat can already satisfy a person’s most important physiological needs. Even if the situation is worst, I won’t starve to death. I feel that I can do freelancing or content at the same time. creator or some spontaneous projects and creations to see how far I can go. I told my family that I would farm and grow vegetables after I quit my job. Of course they didn’t understand at first and asked me why I still farmed after reading so many books. I told them that farming actually has nothing to do with my academic qualifications and work resume. When there is any conflict, farming is not about giving up or lying down , but it allows me to find the meaning of my life. My friends all think that I am brave , but in fact I am struggling behind the scenes. I am very afraid of failure. I am also afraid that my income will be unstable, but I am also afraid of being stuck in a grid for the rest of my life , repeating the same cycle day after day. I am late. After that, I began to live in a half-farmer, half-X mode, that is, I stayed half of the time in Mui Wo to farm and grow vegetables , or to give some agricultural-related tours and work courses. Once, I went to earn vegetables with my children. They saw the plump vegetable insects and they were not afraid at all. They were as excited as if they had discovered a new world and said they wanted to bring insects back with them. Their smiles give me a lot of motivation. I will also lead some workshops , such as sharing how to make pesto with carrot leaves. Everyone said they were very surprised after trying it. Some participants even said they would go home and try it. Seeing their satisfied expressions really feels like a success. The other half of the time, I will go out of town to participate in some Brand activities or going to tertiary institutions to share some environmental protection experiences. Sometimes I go out of town. After completing all the activities, my whole body is full of pressure and I will be chased by deadlines. I can’t breathe or even drink water. My mind is filled with some unanswered emails or messages. But as soon as I get on the boat and return to Mui Wo, the boat leaves Central. After the pier, you listen to the sound of waves and the engine of the ship, and you look at Central further and further away. The pressure seems to disappear together with the high-rise buildings. The whole person seems to have entered a protective shield. I am finally back to my own place. On the days when I don’t have to go out of the city, I will plant vegetables in the fields and shoot videos. Neighbors will say something like this when they see me dressed up. Aying, you have made a new YouTube video. Sometimes I try to cook some new dishes at home. I refer to the recipes shared by my neighbors. Stuffed tomato rice is a traditional Greek home-cooked dish. My husband said that it is full of color, flavor and flavor. It can completely retain the beautiful shape of the beef tomatoes and the rice is also perfectly blended. Combined with the fresh and sweet taste of tomatoes, I never thought that I could have the taste at home that I tasted when I traveled to the Mediterranean. I also like to walk around to look for traces of Mui Wo beef. In the past, I would especially like Mui Wo with blue sky and white clouds, but now I feel that the morning mist of Mui Wo in spring has a unique flavor, and the air has a little earthy aroma. When I was walking, I saw cows resting and grazing on the grass. I felt very peaceful. This kind of life in a corner of the city is still far away from the city. Many neighbors and I think it is a very ideal state. Time flies really fast. After I resigned, I have lived in Mui Wo for a year and a half. How have I spent this year? What is my biggest gain? In the next episode, I will explain to you that I want to try an alternative life in Hong Kong. In fact, Mui Wo is A good choice is from the end of April to May. There are many activities here , including the Farm-to-Table chocolate workshop organized by my neighbors and me , as well as the tea fruit tasting and mud painting workshops. For details, you can see the introduction at the end of the film. If you want to know more about Mui Wo, remember to go shopping and participate in activities to get to know the neighbors here. Build relationships step by step. Will you try to bravely take the first step for your ideal life ? Share it with me in the message
