On the day of filming, I realized that many shops in Sungai Way New Village close in the afternoon or even operate only in the morning, causing me to miss out on a lot of local delicacies. Such a pity!
Sungai Way New Village is well-known for its lion dance culture. The Khuan Loke Dragon & Lion Dance Association was established in 2002 and has won second place three times in the Genting World Lion Dance Championship in 2000, 2006, and 2024. The association is dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of lion dance.
Khuan Loke’s performances combine traditional and modern elements, attracting lion dance troupes from countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, France, the United States, and Mexico to learn from them.
Every Chinese New Year, Khuan Loke performs lion dances in the village and regularly organizes training sessions to promote the inheritance of lion dance culture.
