In this episode of my round-the-world bike tour, I wake up on the outskirts of Manfredonia after a stealth camp and head into town for provisions. It’s Saturday morning and the streets are quiet as I stock up on breakfast supplies, including a fresh buffalo mozzarella from a local producer. I enjoy a peaceful ride through vineyards and olive groves, stopping in the charming village of Margherita di Savoia before continuing inland toward Andria, where I’ve arranged to stay with a host. As I arrive in the city late in the afternoon, I’m surprised to find it completely shut down—until 5:30pm, when it suddenly bursts back to life. From seaside flats to rolling farmland, it’s a day of contrasts on two wheels.
