300-Year-Old Japanese Festival! | Autumn Day-Trip from Tokyo to Sawara
Find street food, majestic floats & old town charm at the Sawara Grand Festival (aka 佐原の大祭 or “sawara no taisai”)✨ Join Shizuka in experiencing the UNESCO-listed event in Chiba Prefecture.
If you visit Japan during the autumn season or summer, you may just get the chance to see this twice-yearly traditional Japanese festival (“matsuri” in Japanese) just a day-trip distance from Tokyo in the Edo-style town of Sawara — roughly 1.5 hours by train from Narita Airport. One of the biggest float festivals in the Kanto Region, the Sawara Grand Festival has over 300 years of history and is a UNESCO Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.

…and that corn
…um, and the teri-chiki.
I may have a problem.
Real Japan by Food! Great video reporting!
I love you Shizzy
That Kebab!! mmmm! this looked so fun and tasty
low rai dog lol clever
Japan in general sounds awesome & a fun place to visit
What an amazing video of the Sawara festival! In the future I hope you can make a video of Sawara city. Thanks Shizuka!
Whether it’s a LA inspired food school bus or that UNESCO recognised hand carved wooden float, Japanese artisanship is amazing. Thanks for bringing this unique festival to our attention 🙏
japadog shoutout
this festival looks so fun ! would definitely love to visit in the future ! ✨
I saw a Khebab stand in Kyoto this May, and had the spicy Khebab, it was great… But yeah, very rare in the touristic areas…
Shizuka hosts I watch. What wonderful video on the deep rich history of Japan.
I been seeing video where Japan becoming U.S…not the good kind of the U.S either 🫤 please don’t be come like U.S that goes for every country out there 🙏🏾
I now know what I ran into in Sakura last month
Looks amazing!
As a Latino that corn needs some extras 😅 trump24 baby we rule the world again
As a Californian, there are many things that I am not proud of LA. But you guys should try bacon wrapped hotdog! Always wanted to catch one of these festivals but didn't get a chance.
What a little gem! Adding Sawara to the list. Thanks for another great vid.
Wow this vid is packed with friendly people!!!! I like it!!!!
😊
Never understood why people put their condiments on top of the hotdogs; it’s so much neater putting it on the inside of the bun and then put the hotdog over top it. 🤔
Would love to visit! ❤
Japan is now a porn intrustial country…
America and japanese politicians breaking china and Japan relationship for thier political interest…
No need other countries destroy Japan. Japan porn industry destroy Japan and their country birth rate.
May be japanese politicians do porn business for thier gain and destroy beautiful Japan…
Plz Japanese people open your eyes…
❤❤❤
Did Shizuka eat all of that in one evening? 😂
ALWAYS such a great show. So interesting and fun.
That food wrapped around a chopstick looked the best. Great video.
A really cool festival with each story of the food stalls being very interesting
In Japan really aren't many Kebab shops, but I went to one in Nagoya 👍🏻
Why did you change the thumbnail? I thought a new video uploaded already.
great festival
Shizuka cutie ✨
When me and the hubby travel, we love to walk around and have a looksee, rather than having a fully booked schedule of touristy things. So I would love to see more walking around the streets and finding random things in Sawara
food stalls and festivals are my jam, happy it brought some good memories, l need to experience this
Many of these channels are likely for profit making especially since some have local audiences as well. Arguably, they are all advertisements for Japan.
IMO, Japan tourism board should "takeover" a popular channel at some point and make it a bit more overt for tourism. There is an element of a bit of culture shock if an English speaking tourist visits Japan which can be a bit overwhelming.
You are only getting better and better. Yummy!
Japan please mantain your heritage. To bend over like thw euroepans. We asians stick together!
4:40 The girl be like:
YOOO, WHATSAAAAPPPP!!!
I love watching your videos. More please.
