On this day in late summer/ early fall, we took a break from the hot and humid Tokyo to venture north to Akita. We stopped by a city called Semboku in Akita to enjoy their famous Nyuto Onsen and the deepest lake in Japan – Tazawako before ending the night with Akita cuisine featuring their famous kiritanpo nabe.

Not trying to mean or rude but Lake Tazawa in Akita is not the biggest lake in Japan. Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture holds that title.
