  1. Hi Andrew, awesome video and very informative. My question is, when we picked up the pass, will it start straight away? Asking as I'm planning not to use the pass straight away. May be 1 or 2 days after the issue day.

  2. I'm going from Tokyo 3 days -> Hiroshima 3 days -> Osaka 4 days -> Kyoto 5 days. First timer in Japan. Would you split the Tokyo-Hiroshima leg somewhere to use this pass, or is that too much hassle? Thanks!

  3. Hi I'm staying in osaka (next to shin osaka station) for 6 days with planning to do day trips to Hiroshima, Kobe and Himeji which from the sounds of it this pass would work great. I was planning on going to Kyoto for two seperate day trips from Shin osaka. Since this pass won't cover that what would be the best and fastest route for the osaka > kyoto and back? And what sort of price would i be looking at for a return ticket? rather than buying tickets should i just use my IC card? thanks!

  4. I know you answered this already but im still confused on how to actually do it… How can you go to hiroshima if you are staying in kyoto and not osaka ? I mean by using this pass no additional cost

  5. Such a great and informative video. This is the channel I send my friends to when they ask me about travel tips for Japan.

  6. If I buy the pass from klook when the actual timing (5 days) starts counting ? How long before my trip can I purchase the pass ?…. And last question if I start the 5 days let's say on a Monday at 8 am will it end on Friday 8 am or midnight? Many thanks for your help

  7. Thank you for explanatory video. It's really helpful for first time visitor. Can we take ride from Shin- Osaka to Tokyo from this pass

  8. Hi! Just one thing that I don't understand. Can I go from Kyoto to Nara with the JR Kansai Hiroshima Pass, too? Because from the map I found in some websites it seems that, but I'm not sure. Thank you in advance 🙂

  9. Such an informative video, thanks! If I purchase the pass from Klook and exchange for a physical pass in the designated machines in Kyoto, is it a simple tap and go across the route map under this pass (whether it is unreserved local trains or the shinkansen)? Hope we don’t have to queue up for something or print any more tickets as long as we are following the covered route map in those 5 days.

  10. OK, so possibly stupid question, but; the pass doesn't cover the Kyoto-Hiroshima route (directly), but does it cover all destinations in between? For ex. Kyoto – Himeji?

  11. Good day! Just to clarify if we ride from Kyoto to Hiroshima (direct) while using the JR Hiroshima pass how can we settle/ pay the kyoto-osaka sector of the train ride? Thanks in advance.

  12. Hello, please help me. God willing, i will be visiting japan in oct. for 2 weeks, starting and ending in tokyo, and staying in sapporo and kyoto in between. and planning day trips to hiroshima, nara, nikko, china town and korea town. what pass is best for 7 days only please

  13. Hi! thank you for sharing this info! I'm trying to book this pass on the jrwest website but they're asking me for an a identification number, where do i get that number from? thank you!

  14. Is it mandatory to have a reserved seat to ride the sanyo shinkansen ? Shin Osaka – Hiroshima ? Or can I ride it just with the kansai Hiroshima area pass ?

  15. We would be using this pass over New Years, and it sounds like we would be getting reserved seats, which we want anyways since we want to sit together and be sure we get on the train we want. In the video, you say to buy the pass through the JRWest website but then pick up the physical ticket in person at the ticket booth or ticket office. And you can get unlimited reserved seats. I'm confused about the "first 6 seat reservation" rule. There will be 5 of us so does that count as the first 5? Or is it the first trip counts as one? And is this rule only for where you pick up the tickets not how you make your reserved seat? Thanks!!

  16. Hi, is this like the JR Pass where you have to order it before arriving in Japan or can you buy it after arrival?

  17. I saw from your another video about Kansai wide pass from amanohashidate to ine then to asago city to see the sunrise.
Am I able to use this Kansai Hiroshima pass for this route as well? Interested to follow yr itinerary to tottori as well.
I’m going in the fall, mid November

  18. Great video!. Just came back from a 3-week trip to Japan and this video was extremely useful. We saved a quite a lot of money by using the Kansai Hiroshima Pass. At some stations, they have a special counter at ticket offices for foreigners. You can go to these counters to make any reservations. These have almost no queues. A few times, we were able to make a reservation 10-15 minutes before the departure time (free of charge).

  19. Need some help/tips.
Im going to be in Japan in two weeks (10/15)
    Kyoto 10/19 – 10/22
    Osaka 10/23 – 10/26
    Nara: 10/22 (Tuesday)
    Hiroshima: 10:26 (Saturday)
Therefore, if I activate my pass on the 22 it will end by 26 end of day, meaning it would cover my Hiroshima pass as well and use to go to nara too?
If we were to ride one of the first two trains out of Shin-Osaka to Hiroshima in your opinion non-reserved seats would be just fine for my GF and I?
We wanted to reserve cause want to seat together for that trip through the official link but we dont understand how to fill out what they are asking and just might go with your klook affiliate link.
were planning to be there till around 6PM and head back to Osaka after for the night time.

lastly can i pick up my pass earlier or do i need to pick up the day i want to use it?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated and thank you for all you do for us travelers!

  20. I am visiting the Kansai area in two weeks and find your video very helpful. Are there Kansai Tourist Information centers in Osaka other than the one in KiX? Thank you

  21. Great video ! I am starting my trip from Hiroshima airport and planning to spend 2 days there exploring Hiroshima & Miyajima and then activate the 5 day Kansai – Hiroshima pass to explore Amanahashidate , Himeji, Tattori and back to Osaka on 5th day, from osaka i can use local trains to explore Kyoto & Nara, can i get the 5 day tickets from Hiroshima airport and activate it after 2 days ? Also can i get physical sim cards in Hiroshima airport, as my phones doeant support e-sim ecosystem.

  22. Hi Andrew I plan to use this pass from Osaka to Hiroshima and various stops before stopping at Kyoto. Any idea which pass or route to take to go to kusatsu onsen. I plan to use the Tokyo wide pass to go to kusatsu onsen. Is it the only way using a Shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo then purchase the pass and activate, head to the onsen? I wanna take the earliest train. I saw some ppl taking from ueno and shinjuku station to kusatsu onsen. All under 2 to 2and a half.

  23. Is there additional fees for Mizuho or Nozomi bullet train? 😮.. I read some web that there is for jrpass but upon searching, it seems this pass and the Sanyo north Kyushu is exceptional to this rule

  24. Thanks Andrew! I'm glad I came across this video. I'm planning a trip now and it's definitely a bit stressful weighing all options. Tokyo for 5 nights, then, Osaka for 4, Hiroshima for 1, Miyajima for 1, Kyoto for 3, and finish with Hakone for 2. Any other passes make sense for this route?

  25. Thank you so much for posting this. I had so many questions about it that weren't available on google searches. You also gave me a few ideas too. subscribed.

  26. does that mean i can't use it for a round trip from kyoto to nara? i'm not sure I understood this part..

  27. Thanks to your videos, it helped a lot. I just want to ask what is a good pass with my itinerary below.
    Kyoto is my base.
    – Kansai >> Kyoto

    – Kyoto >> Nagoya
    >> Kyoto
    – Kyoto >> Hiroshima
    >> Kyoto
    – Kyoto >> Tokyo Station

  28. Thanks for the video! Can you make another video for 5 days plan to use this hokuriku pass? I followed ur itinerary for kansai wide area pass last may and its a great help.🎉

  29. thank you for this! im already planning my next trip (next yr) and im purchasing this pass. i also saw a comment on klook where they rode the Nozomi from Hiroshima to Kyoto with additional 1,500yen fare adjustment. i was wondering if that can be done through the machine or ill have to go to the ticketing office, cos I plan on coming back and staying in kyoto too.

  30. The first class seats are from Sakura Shinkansen right? So if bought my JR Pass from Klook, can I still avail that ride or not?

  31. Thanks for the detailed explanation! My Itinerary is Kyoto -> Osaka -> Hiroshima -> Hakone -> Tokyo
Does JR Kansai Hiroshima Pass covers the tickets cost from Hiroshima to Hakone? I think it's still worth it even if that's not the case!

  32. Great infos. I was 1st going to buy the JR West but this one will suit my needs better for the places I want to go to. I will buy a separate ticket for Kanazawa and it still will work cheaper than the Japan Pass

  33. Hi Andrew, great video and very informative. May I ask for your recommendation on itinerary for a day trip from Osaka to Hiroshima / Miyajima comfortably…Thank you..

  34. Thank you sooooo much! Exactly what I needed! Since my return flight from Haneda to Kensai on the JAL Explorer Pass is only 130 EUR, with this pass combined I will save around 100 EUR compared to 7 days Train pass. The only thing I'm not really sure about, will I be able to use the Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Kyoto when my starting and final destination is either of these two stations?

  35. i think the reserved seat in the ordinary carts on mizuho shinkansen has the 2 x 2 seating just like sakura shinkansen 😁

  36. Great video thanks, We are travelling direct from KIX to Hiroshima, can this pass be used from KIX to Shin Osaka

  37. Excellent video. I plan to visit in May 2025 and couldn’t figure out how to do Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima, Miyajims (sorry not so much interested in Osaka). This video is exactly what I need. I can buy Tokyo to Kyoto separately and use this regional pass between Kyoto and Hiroshima than, pay a lot of money for JR whole Japan pass. I have to figure out how to ride a green car between shin-Osaka and Hiroshima.
