✋Hello! Today we will go to to the one of only twelve original castles in Japan that have survived wars, disasters and castle abandonment order. From this 17th century historic place you can also admire a beautiful panorama of the city of Matsue.

Matsue Castle is located in the city of Matsue in Shimane Prefecture, Japan. The castle was completed in 1611 and to this day has retained its original wooden form. The main part is a tower-style structure that appears to be four stories high from the outside, but in fact it has a five internal floors, and one underground floor. From 1873, after the announcement of the Ordinance for Disposal of Japanese Castles, most of them were demolished and during this time also all structures of Matsue Castle except the one builing were demolished. When the main tower was about to suffer the same fate, the inhabitants of the city tried very hard to save it and thanks to their work we can now admire this historic building as it was 400 years ago. Matsue Castle is often called “The Black Castle” because of its appearance. In 2015, this place was included in the list of “National Treasures of Japan”, which includes only 5 Japanese castles.
