地下鉄「九段下駅」より徒歩5分、千代田区の「靖國神社」は、明治2年（1869）に明治天皇の思し召しにより創建、幕末の志士から先の大戦までの戦歿者ら246万6千余柱を祀る神社です。「靖國」には「国をやすらかに」「平和な国家を建設する」などの願いが込められています。古くから桜の名所としても知られ、東京の桜の開花基準となる標本木は特に有名です。7月13日～16日には東京の夏の風物詩として親しまれている「みたままつり」を開催。境内には大小3万を超える提灯や、各界名士の揮毫による懸雪洞が掲げられるほか、みこし振りや青森ねぶた、特別献華展、各種芸能などの奉納行事、盆踊りなど大勢の人で賑わう。そのほかにも「初詣」や「さくらまつり」、4月と10月の「例大祭」などの祭事、高さ25m日本一の「大鳥居」「大村益次郎像」など見どころは多く、年間約500万人の参拝者が訪れます。 また境内の博物館「遊就館（ゆうしゅうかん）」では神社縁の宝物や御祭神の御遺書御遺品、零戦等の貴重な史資料を展示しています。

Yasukuni Shrine in Chiyoda Ward, a 5-minute walk from Kudanshita Station on the subway, was founded in 1869 by the will of Emperor Meiji and enshrines over 2,466,000 soldiers, from the patriots of the late Edo period to those who died in war until the last war. Yasukuni is filled with wishes such as “Peace for the country” and “Building a peaceful nation.” It has long been known as a famous cherry blossom spot, and the specimen tree that serves as the standard for cherry blossom blooming in Tokyo is particularly famous. The Mitama Matsuri, a popular summer event in Tokyo, is held from July 13th to 16th. The grounds are decorated with over 30,000 lanterns of all sizes, as well as hanging snow-covered lanterns with calligraphy by dignitaries from all walks of life. The shrine is bustling with people as it hosts events such as mikoshi dances, Aomori Nebuta floats, special flower exhibitions, various performing arts, and Bon Odori dances. There are also many other attractions, such as the “Hatsumode” (first shrine visit of the year), the “Sakura Festival,” the “Regular Festival” in April and October, the “Otorii Gate,” the tallest in Japan at 25 meters, and the “Statue of Omura Masujiro,” attracting approximately 5 million worshippers every year. The Yushukan museum on the grounds also displays treasures related to the shrine, the wills and belongings of the enshrined deity, and valuable historical materials such as Zero fighter planes.

지하철 「쿠단시타역」에서 도보 5분, 지요다구의 「야스쿠니 신사」는, 메이지 2년(1869)에 메이지 천황의 생각 부름으로 창건, 막부 말기의 지사로부터 앞의 대전까지의 전기자들 246만 6천 여주를 모시는 신사입니다. 「나라를 부드럽게」 「평화로운 국가를 건설한다」등의 소원이 담겨져 있습니다. 13일~16일에는 도쿄의 여름 풍물시와 하고 사랑받고 있는 「미타마마츠리」를 개최. 경내에는 크고 작은 3만을 넘는 제등이나, 각계 명사의 휘박에 의한 현설동이 내걸 수 있는 것 외에, 미코시 흔들림이나 아오모리 네부타, 특별 헌화전, 각종 예능 등 봉납 행사, 봉오도리 등 세상의 사람으로 붐빕니다. 그 외에도 ‘하츠사기’와 ‘사쿠라 축제’, 4월과 10월의 ‘예대 축제’ 등의 제사, 높이 25m 일본 제일의 ‘오도리이’ ‘오무라 마지로 동상’ 등 볼거리는 많다 연간 약 500만 명의 참배자가 방문합니다. 또 경내의 박물관 “유취관(유유칸)”에서는 신사 인연의 보물이나 제제신의 유서 어유품, 영전 등의 귀중한 역사 자료를 전시하고 있습니다.
