Japan Trip Oct 2024 : Gujo Hachimam, Takayama, Shirakawa-go

We spent a few days in Gifu, we rented a Toyota Yaris in Nagoya and we drove to Gujo Hachiman, spent half a day there, visited the castle and the riverside under a perfect blue sky.

We really enjoyed the matcha parfait in a traditional tea-house, then we drove to Takayama to spend the first night in Oyado Raku, a small hotel in the countryside.

From Takayama, we organized a day trip to Shirakawa-go, a small traditional village showcasing a buidling style known as gasshō-zukuri, basically a steep thatched roof to withstand heavy snow and harsh winter. It is also a UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
